Official Synopsis

Widow TONG SUK-FAN (Louise Lee) is saddled with hardship alone, struggling to bring up her two sons CHONG YAU-CHING (Ruco Chan) and CHONG YAU-KIT (Ron Ng). The brothers join the Intelligence Unit and the Operations Unit of Anti-Terrorist Force respectively, and both gain recognition from their superior SHUM CHI-NGO (Eddie Kwan), which is supposed to be a comfort to their mother. Unexpectedly, their brotherhood is turned to enmity owing to an intelligence. Through a reliable source from a journalist YIP TING (Yoyo Mung), YAU-CHING probes into a secret organization, during which he nearly gets himself killed and cannot resume duty immediately. After seeking aid from his girlfriend CHUNG YAT-KA (Aimee Chan), who accesses the database in secret by leveraging her duty as the intelligence analyst, he uncovers that there is a mole in the intelligence agency. His younger brother YAU-KIT not only suspects him of being a traitor, but also takes advantage of his absence to court YAT-KA. Just as YAU-CHING is caught helplessly in a dilemma, fortunately, he gets help from YIP TING, and the two gradually develop romantic feelings for each other. However, in an attempt to ferret out the culprit, YAU-CHING does not hesitate to use himself as the bait, walking to the path of no return. Long-gone seems to be the days when fidelity, love and righteousness still mattered to him……

Louise and Ruco again? Ruco’s character here kinds of remind me of his character in Brother’s Keeper.
Regardless, I’m looking forward to these fresh couples 🙂

  • Flick says:

Gosh, I love Aimee and Ruco after Outbound Love. But damn, the storyline is decent! Up to ep. 15 and I am full of theories to who the mole is in ATF. I’m just loving it. So good.

And it seems like half the Come Home Love cast is in here 😛

My only compliant is Yoyo’s hair. Four words: What were they thinking???

    • Flick says:

And just wanted to mention, one of the best series in a long time. Storyline twists and turns got pretty intense in the last 5 episodes, really well thought out for once. I could nitpick but heck, it’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a series so much.

Sad that it’s ended – but a must watch!!! And as usual, Ruco and Aimee, please feel free to keep acting together. Cause I kinda love you two.

    • KTVB says:

hehe I haven’t seen Outbound Love so this is my first Ruco x Aimee series!

I actually don’t mind Yoyo’s hair- it kinda suits her

  • Jason says:

Currently at ep. 20. Storyline is decent, and like it that they are going after a mole in ATF.

Don’t really like the role Ron is playing though. Too much of a hot-head imo.

    • KTVB says:

I think the series really picked up from episode 11-ish onwards!! Sitting at the edge of my chair for most of this! Brilliant!

Argh..Ron kinda ruined the series for me lols

      • Jason says:

Serie was great, but think the ending was a bit too hasty. They didn’t mention what happened with Negative (Chris Lai) and the mother (Louise Lee) was unmentioned for example.

And Ron was so useless in here. Only creating trouble and shouting nonsense, lol. One of the worst characters ever.

  • Jessica says:

    This drama is great!
    loved it alot. 🙂

The ending was crap though. The way that tvb ends their dramas is really bad and sometimes is typical.

    *spoiler*
Dont really get it though. Did Ruco like just fall asleep or die in that last scene after drinking that drink? 😛

    • Jenny says:

So disappointing to hear this drama also has a bad ending. So typical of TVB to struggle with their endings..

    • h.k says:

*spoiler* carson killed himself according to carsons weibo.

      • KTVB says:

It’s kinda sad…I really hoped he didn’t have to kill himself 🙁 I wanted him to end up with Yoyo..

        • W says:

Actually I was glad they didn’t go there, it wouldn’t have made sense if Carson suddenly liked Yoyo (even though she did save his ass, like literally). I didn’t think Jessica would actually kill herself though, and Carson dying was a little dramatic (probs TVB’s way of showing is undying love for her haha).

My issue is with how useless Ron’s character was. He only ever caused issues. So frustrating to watch.

But besides that, what a ride!

        • KTVB says:

          *spoiler*
I agree that Carson suddenly liking Yoyo would have been too forced but would have liked to see these two develop something a bit more than allies. I just wished TVB didn’t make Carson die and left Yoyo and Carson’s relationship room for potential development in the future that would have been good.

OMG don’t get me started on Ron =_= hated his character from start to finish lol

    • KTVB says:

Oh gosh I loved this series!!! Glad I came back to watch this one!!

  • kikibean says:

I haven’t watched TVB drama for ages. Living overseas,it’s very hard to find them on internet. Regardless, I came across this show on my parents’ house. After much searching, I was able to find it. I’ve also love cop dramas. This show is fresh and twisted almost til the end. I really hated the ending. I think many viewers agreed that Carson committed suicide at the end. For being such a responsible and righteous person, I hated his cowardly, irresponsible action at the end. He overcame so much, even surviving at the edge of death, but to end his life like this? He was so sure of what his doing during undercover, even if it meant to arrest the one he loves, he still stayed on the good side, and he ended his life like this? I don’t care how much guilt he felt. It was Jessica’s choice. He was brave enough to do undercover work, he was brave enough to “betray” jessica to bring her in even if it meant pointing a gun at her, but he couldn’t endure the result. It just ruined his character for me.

I want to see Ruco and Yoyo as a couple in the future. I actually think they look better together than Ruco and Amiee. This is my first drama watching Ruco. In fact, I don’t know him at all, but his character makes me fall in love with him 😛 I’m going to see if I can find other drama of his keke

    • KTVB says:

      Hi kikibean 🙂

Thanks for sharing your thoughts/comments! Good thing you got hold of this one, because “Ruse of Engagement” is a pretty good series in my opinion 😀 I agree on the ending, I can’t believe he just ended his life like that. Some people say its because he loved Aimee too much…I guess Aimee would rather he die with her (as twisted as it may sound) than wishing him to live on happily without her…I felt there was just something twisted about Aimee’s character (esp towards the end!)
