Loading ...I’m currently up to Episode 15 😀 Absolutely hooked on this series!! I love Kenneth and Steven’s characters here a lot. I love watching Kenneth so scheming and intelligent lol, pretty impresed with his role here. Although he is a semi- “villain”, I still love watching him and root for him. Steven gives his usual great performance as “Lip Dor Bo”. I find that these righteous ancient characters suit him a lot and he’s always so charming in these roles- can never get sick of him! I love watching the two of them together 😀
As for favourite couple, I vote for Kenneth and Elaine XD He seems so in love with her! I think Selena and Steven look good together as a couple althought not much is happening with them at the moment.
Can’t wait to watch the rest of the series!!!
Im absolutely loving this drama too!! Especially Kenneth’s portray of Fuk Tsuen; his eyes always glinters with a hint of evilness. I wouldn’t even call Fuk Tsuen a villian, he is just a tragic person who doesn’t want to bow down to fate..

“Evil” in the sense he appears like he’d be a very ruthless Emperor(compared to Power Chan)- just by seeing the tactics and scheming..I don’t blame him at all- hate the Grand Empress!!!
I am also really in love with Kenneth´s character in this series. I don´t hate him even he did a lot of bad things, but which on the other hand of course shows his cleverness.
His performance is amazing. When I think back, I couldn´t imagine that he can portray Funk Chun so great. Love him in this drama.
Also really like Kenneth and Elaine. He loves her so much. Really like to watch him to do so many things for her. I think she also still loves him, but cannot change anything. I really want to know what happened to their relationship. Why do they break up? Really like to watch episode 16. It seems so promising.
yeah, i was wondering why would kenneth and elaine break up, it could be because that tai wang tai hou favors elaine and power that she wanted them to be together instead of elaine and kenneth, it could be that tai wang tai hou bribed elaine to break up with kenneth…idk we’ll see
Yea..I think the breakup would essentially come down to those two options lol Elaine was most likely forced to marry the emperor and become a concubine. They also said “tai wong tai hou” liked her a lot, and chose her personally.
My thoughts exactly. Tai wang tai hou could have foreseen that Elaine will be a very good empress, so naturally she’s selfish and wants Elaine to end up with Power. Or Tai wang tai hou could have a stranglehold over Elaine’ family….
Yeap, same here, i really like to watch Steven and Kenneth Ma here, esp Kenneth Ma, he is really great in this series … although he is semi villian , but still like to watch him , and his colaps with Natalie is sweet after i watch them in The Other Truth, wish there is more pairing of them in future series 🙂
I don’t think Natalie suits ancient dramas, she looks a bit out of place. It was interesting to see Natalie and Kenneth as a couple here since they had a tragic ending in “The Other Truth” XD I don’t really like Natalie’s character here though; bet she’s going to cause more trouble later on.
U mean Natalie has modern looking facial features, right? I do feel she looks teleported from the modern ages too!! However I think Natalie is doing a great job; my impression of her previously stops at just someone’s girlfriend/some student, but I think she has matured alot from the looks of this series. Even Elaine’s acting improved!!
I really like Elaine!! I think this is my favourite Elaine role lol She’s so pretty here ; would make such a nice empress.
The slight thing I’m not used to in this series is the lack of Emperor’s brothers and concubines lol Seems like such a small family (which makes sense given Sunny “passed away” fairly early…
I really like the scene where Kenneth discovers that Elaine also still really loves him. Unfortunately, they will not end up. I really want to know if Kenneth can give up the throne when he instead can be togehter with Elaine. But I don´t think so.
Finally hoarded enough episodes! Will start watching this today! Steven Ma has been promoting it every day and all those promotions are working on me. Am excited to watch it!

i’m up to episode 20 and hooked! 🙂 At first I wasn’t really interested in the series, looked like another palace scheming series to me, but Steven and Kenneth’s portrayal of their respective characters have been so good! I initially thought it’s be just another regular righteous (Steven’s character) and evil (Kenneth’s character) but both characters are well-written. Like how Kenneth is bad but he was made this way by the grand empress dowager! And how Steven’s character wants revenge despite being so loyal to the emperor. If only the grand empress dowager hadn’t schemed so much just so things would go her way, she wouldn’t hv so many problems now – so many ppl really have died for her!
I’m growing to really like Power’s character- he is such a good/kind-hearted emperor! I know he’s always been this way..but I guess watching him and Elaine’s relationship grow; the trust he places in his brothers and Steven Ma makes me really want to protect him from Kenneth’s evil scheme.
i like Power as the good, kind-hearted emperor he is, but in recent episodes I feel he has been making such bad decisions, and trusting the wrong people! I guess it was written as such to provide some complications to the story, but he’s ostracizing himself fr the good ppl (Nalan Xingde, Elaine, etc.) :S
Every bad thing that happens in this show is orchestrated by Kenneth, which makes him both smart and scary! But he’s scariest when he’s being “honest” in front of Elaine. I really wish Elaine would just tell the emperor everything but i knw she won’t coz then Natalie will be implicated as well :S
i just finished ep 23 and the ending was so frustrating!!
Poor Stephen Wong!! He is the most loyal one to the emperor..and that’s what he gets ><
Yea I dislike Kenneth's character so much in these later episodes.. (I regret voting for him in this poll!!! XD I liked him at the beginning though…) He is pure pure selfishl!! I think his huge emotional character change in ront of Elaine is so freaky =.= And his fake "goodie goodie" act in front of the emperor, his 5th brother etc ion these ending episodes makes me so angry.
I'm glad Elaine hinted to Power to be careful of Kenneth though..that should spark some warning signs to power given that he completely trusts Kenneth at the moment. Hopefully he'll find out before its too late..
ok last episodes like the last episode of Life and Times of a Sentinel just goes to show that TVB is CAPABLE of producing DECENT last episodes, unlike the nonsense they come up with most of the time (read: The Other Truth) !
Enjoyed the last episode so much! So dramatic and suspenseful and what a twist! :O
The ending/truth was definately a huge twist!!! SO DRAMATIC!!! huge spoiler though, so I don’t want to talk about it here XD

Agree the last two episodes were great. All one did a great job, especially Steven Ma. Also Power Chan was superb. He impressed me as the king, because at the beginning I didn´t like him in this role.
