For the things that have happened so far up to episode 19, there’s been a subconscious thought in my mind – is Ron really doing a good job as an undercover cop? Do you think he’s convincing? Just a thought.
It has been over a year where Ron slowly worked his way up. How was he able to gain Michael.M’s trust? (Or does Michael just use people, but not completely trust them?) Is it really that easy to believe a cop would suddenly become a gangster based on the fact he could no longer be a cop? Surely there are other things he could do; because such a dedicated cop would know what’s right and what’s wrong.
Michael.M has also worked with Ron before so he should also know that Ron is a person who thinks of the bigger picture and is willing to take risks; not necessarily following the exact rules to achieve his goal. Does money seem like a big motive for him? Shouldn’t he suspect him?
I don’t think Ron acted evil enough. Then again, the other gangsters aren’t necessarily ‘evil’, especially compared to the Motorcycle-helmet gang.
When the motor-helmet incidents started occurring, Ron immediately chased after the criminal when he saw it happening on the streets. The moment he decided to chase the criminal reflected that he hasn’t really changed. He was still there to protect the innocent and take down the bad people. When Sammul learns of Ron’s actions, he was comforted and believes that the ‘old’ Ron was still there. That night was Ron’s birthday and Sammul hoped to celebrate with him- unfortunately Ron couldn’t and rejected his offer. However, later that night when Sammul went fishing with Kaki, he sees Lam Ka Wah(head cop) and Ron secretly leaving the dark forest and starts suspecting his identity.
Sammul later confronts Ron for the truth! That part was so exciting XD I didn’t think that Sammul would find out Ron’s identity so early on the series lol. Ron denies it but couldn’t give a convincing explanation. I think Sammul knows now and I guess it is comforting for us, since another person knows that Ron hasn’t actually changed. It’s more risky now though isn’t it?
On another occasion, the two secretly meet up for a drink and chat about their personal lives…

Another suspenseful/exciting scene was when Michael.T (Laughing) starts suspecting Ron!! Ron and Sammul fought against one of the helmet-attackers when they thought no one else was around. Ron wanted to take the criminal back for Michael.M, but Sammul managed to convince him to let him take him back to the police instead. Ron leaves and Michael.T actually saw the whole thing!
I was so shocked to find out Michael.T was actually an undercover cop too!! (Pretty cool actually haha) I suspected he was when Dominic Lam hinted to Ron that some undercovers stay by for more than 10years, still waiting for that one chance. We also learn that Laughing’s ex-girlfriend was also a police but because he turned ‘bad’, she broke up with him and married another man. He loved her a lot (shown after he learns of her death news) and it was obvious he didn’t want to lose her. It gives more reason to suspect Laughing is really an undercover.
Michael.T started beating up Ron when he confirmed he was a undercover traitor.
Laughing: “I knew you were a undercover! You now only have one way out- to die! I’ll give you a choice (tossing a coin), heads-I will kill you myself. Tails you go and die. You don’t even dare? Why be a undercover? Once you’re an undercover, you should have prepared to give your life away. No friends; No feelings- the basic things a person has- an undercover won’t. If you want to be a person, then don’t be an undercover! You can’t even do anything; it’s better off you die!”
He beat him until he fainted-Yet, he didn’t kill him and sent him back home.
Ron considered retrieving his duty as undercover when he identity was revealed. However, Ron decided to take another risk and pretend that since Michael.T let him off; his life belonged to him and that he didn’t want to be stuck in the middle of good and bad anymore- since being undercover, he could not truly belong on either side. To test Ron, Michael.T dared him to attack a police and take the gun off him. Just when Ron was about to go, Michael.T stopped him and the police notices them. It turns out that Police knows Michael.T and reveals Michael.T used to be his student when he joined the police force; but has been kicked out because he was ‘bad’.
When Ron asks whether he’s doing the same thing as him, Michael.T laughs it off, saying ‘yes, we’re both gangsters’.
I feel so sad for Laughing…he really gave up his girlfriend and everything to be undercover 🙁 When he tells Ron that he should use his relationship with Elanne to get closer to Michael.M, Ron refuses, saying that’s beyond his bottom line. For Laughing, there is no bottom line, which makes me think Ron is not doing ‘whatever it takes’ to complete his mission. (To be honest I’m happy Ron decided not to use Elanne; but I wonder if he eventually will?)
Ever since Michael.T started following Michael.M I started to think he’s not that bad afterall. Sure he pretends to act tough etc, but then I can still relate to these “triad people” as normal people to some extent, especially when they start having bomb threats etc from other groups.
Maybe because they haven’t been showing us much of their drug dealings and people dying and getting affected, instead- showing us their love for the people the care about and the ‘goodness’ in them.
Is Ron ultimate goal to arrest Michael.M? Can Ron really succeed to arrest Michael.M by what he’s doing right now? ? What about his daughter Elanne? What is he doing?
And what is Laughing really doing? He would have known where the drug operations were first held near the beginning of the series. If he was an undercover, why didn’t he do anything to stop them? Was he an undercover who turned bad for real? Did he lose himself in the process?

I do find that Ron getting into the gang and gaining Michael M trust too easily… I mean he was a cop before no matter how you look at it.
& I just LOVE Michael T. character in this series. He sacrifices everything in order to infiltrate the gang and in the end lost his lover and everything.
I have a feeling that he’s gonna die… :[
&& is anyone else surprised to know where drug factory is?? I was totally not expecting it… I hope nothing will happen to Kathy and her family relationship b/c of that.

I’m not sure what’s gonna happen to Michael T. after this episode b/c Kathy found out about his undercover identity…
& I’m not sure if he really does like her.. I mean he bought her a necklace and booked the church for Kaki cus she’s getting married to Sammul (which btw, does ANYONE get how they’re just soooo in love and like get married after just knowing each other for how long? a year?).

i just watched up to episode 18, and when sammul started to suspect that ron is actually an undercover, i felt so happy because he wouldn’t feel guilty for taking away ron’s police credential and also wouldn’t have to worry that his good friend has changed, but at the same time, it’s not as exciting when sammul now knows that he isn’t really a bad guy, but it’s still comforting i guess 😀
as for michael tse, i’m still confused over his actions…
so he really is an undercover right? even though he never admitted to it, but then why did he beat ron up at the pier? it doesn’t make sense to me. i sorta feel sad for him because of his relationship with aimee chan. i hope ron doesn’t have to go through that, originally before sammul figured out ron’s intentions, i was so scared that because of the misunderstanding and secrets that sammul would eventually leave ron and not care for him anymore
and i am still looking forward to how ron and elanne’s relationship will grow. i truly hope ron won’t use elanne to become closer to michale miu, but i do want to see them together for real.

^ me too! I’m on episode 18. I was kind of happy Pak Kiu found out but is Ah Man really that good undercover? He’s even having conversations with Pak Kiu while he’s undercover?! Yea, I agree too. What was Michael T doing at the beginning of the series?? What’s his aim? He’s been undercover for about more than 8 years.

I think Michael Tse in the beginning was the one really leaking information when there first hideout was found by the cops and his mission was supposed to be over, but then I think he went back once he realized that it wasn’t over since Michael Miu was going to be taking over. I think he also beat up Ron to scare him from being an undercover to stop him from following in his footsteps but to also see if he was strong enough for the job.
I do find it weird that these triads don’t do a background search or something because being an undercover isn’t too uncommon. It should be pretty easy to see if they’ve been a cop before, and that would automatically make the triads not trust them right?
I’m still loving the series though and I can’t wait to see what happens!
AC: i agree with the background check, i don’t understand why it was so easy for Ron to enter into the triad when Michael M. knew that he is a cop, i mean, as real as that scene that ron did in front of all the other cops in the locker room, i wouldn’t trust ron so easily if i was michael m. or does michale miu know that ron is an undercover and purposely digging a hole for ron to fall into??? hmmm….

To Rin: I was shocked where the factory was too!! 0_0 I didn’t even suspect it and its shocking for Michael.M, but in a sense it is also a reality call. That scene was quite exciting to watch! I hope Kathy and her family won’t stuff up because of that too >< When they mentioned about Kaki and Sammul getting married- I thought it was too quick as well! XD They just started dating... To rachel: mm..thats' the other thing. Ron was never 'so bad' as to Sammul giving up on him.. To kelly : aw..it'll be really sad if that happens! To sugar: yea..Ron and Sammul having conversation (in even public)- scene where they were with the girls drinking coffee. Hmm..Even if Ron wasn't undercover, wouldn't it still possible for him to eventually turn back good (even if he really initially turned bad?)..Something Michael.M should also have considered! Yea..that explains why Michael.T disappeared for a bit (after Tin-gor) got captured, but then had to come back...Michael.T appeared so loyal to 'Tin-gor' as well...to think that he would betray him..then again. He's loyal now to Michael.m too. (sorta)
Just finished watching episode 20- end part of the episode is SO EXCITING!!! awwww I feel so sad for Michael.T!! He almost got there…all those sacrifices…I hope Kathy won’t tell Michael.M T_T
