In episode 24 of [Beyond the Realm of Conscience], Michelle and Tavia continue to annoy the heck out of me (Michelle more-so than Tavia)! Their purely bitchy behavior, illogical and senseless minds drive me crazy XD!! Does everyone agree that Michelle is possibly the most irritatingly ‘stupid’ and illogical in the drama? [quote] I felt like slapping her silly for her childish behavior and her so-called ‘justification’. None of her self-pitying scenes touch me, and I just wish she can go die somewhere >_< *takes a deep breath* I shall now go onto the episode synopsis..

Susanna nervously stands by the pond at night, praying her son is alive and safe somewhere. Michelle had previously said if there is no moon on the night of the 15th (which is unlikely), she will tell her of her son’s whereabouts. Just as Michelle is laughing in Susanna’s face under the full moon, a dark cloud roams through the night sky, sheltering the moonlight. Despite this miracle, Michelle doesn’t keep her promise and continues to toy with her. “If I’m in a good mood, maybe I’ll tell you” Oh shame on you Michelle…

Michelle doesn't keep her promise

Michelle doesn’t keep her promise

At the House of Proceedings Council, when reviewing ideas for an upcoming event, as predicted, Michelle continues to bully Susanna. This time however, Susanna is prepared and stands up for herself and her ideas. She challenges Michelle’s poor judgment by showing her how well-thought out and meaningful her concept is; along with the solid research she has done to back her up. Michelle continues to argue, throwing whatever lame excuse she can to have her way. In order to reach a compromise, Susanna suggests Mary to make the final verdict. However, Mary has already approved of her idea before this meeting even began so Michelle is left speechless! haha! Yay, go Susanna :D!

When the two are alone, Michelle starts whining like a 5 year old for talking back at her, making her lose face in front of everyone. Well duh, does she really think she’s going to sit there and let you run all over her because you told her to? Get real! Susanna is tired of Michelle’s games, and will no longer care about learning the truth from her because she won’t say anything anyway. HAH! Sucked in. That’s what happens when you’re a liar and don’t keep your words. When Michelle brings up Ram’s death again, Susanna reiterates that she can go ahead and report it if she has any evidence. If she can bring Michelle up, she has the potential to pull her back down too. AWESOME! I really admire Susanna’s strong character and values. This scene made me feel very happy for her. Finally to fight back!

Susanna and Michelle

Susanna will no longer be pushed around by Michelle

This is followed by a scene where annoying Michelle is pitying herself. She realises she doesn’t have anything left to really use against Susanna now that she doesn’t care. She is sad she still hasn’t found any evidence pointing at Susanna for being the murderer- I’m so sick of her! Isn’t this saying something? If she can’t find evidence then stop the stupid assumptions. She doesn’t use her head and is always going with her (wrong) gut instincts. Does anyone still feel sorry for her?

While Vin is performing magic tricks for the palace maids in the garden, Susanna overhears him explaining how he was left by the river as a baby and that Ram had saved him! Her heart sank, eyes started to become teary.. she finally found her son! Charmaine notices Susanna’s rather pale, concerned expression and ask if everything was okay. Seeing how Charmaine is the only one person she could trust, she tells her about the secret. To confirm Vin really is her son, the two decide to test which zodiac he is to determine if their ages matched up. The two easily succeed and are overwhelmed with joy. Unfortunately, when asked about his background, he expresses resentment and hatred towards his mother for abandoning him. He believes she is cold-hearted for leaving him to die, and hopes to never see her. What a stab in the heart 🙁 I feel awful and sad for Susanna… and what do you know? Michelle is nearby and sees everything. Why does this keep happening?

Susanna finds out Vin is her son

Susanna finds out Vin is her son

Michelle starts being a stupid attention-seeking kid again, revealing Vin is indeed her child (when Susanna already knew). She starts tormenting Susanna by saying Vin only sees and loves her as his mother, rubbing the fact that he hates her. Come on, tell her something she doesn’t know already. Is this talk even necessary? Susanna is again under her control, when she threatens to tell Vin the ugly truth about his parents (not being married when he was conceived), making him an socially-unaccepted child. We hear the same line again “I will if you keep me happy”… Everything Michelle does is selfish and pointless. I wonder if this is just another excuse Michelle made up to keep Susanna under her control? She does genuinely seem to love and care for Vin; would she really tell him the truth and break his heart, just to get back at Susanna?

Meanwhile, Tavia also started copying Buddhist sÅ«tre, following Selena to impress Mary and Moses. Selena on the other hand paints a picture of the Goddess of Mercy, who co-incidentally happens to have Charmaine’s face. Everyone agrees that it is much fitting since Charmaine is like a living goddess and shower her with compliments. Tavia gets agitated with all the praises but joins in complimenting Charmaine, associating herself with her. (Does anyone think this is a bit too much praising? *shivers*)

Under Mary’s order, Charmaine created 2 items,  a pearl necklace for Tavia and a hair piece for Selena. The name of the hair piece resonates the idea of having a child. Since Charmaine takes the persona of a goddess, it was as if a goddess was blessing Selena with a child. Moses personally places the hair piece onto her hair, making Tavia extremely jealous.

Tavia deliberately makes Selena fall onto the ground

Tavia deliberately makes Selena fall onto the ground

Tavia is obviously very pissed and when walking in the garden, she deliberately pulls her necklace apart, making Selena slip on the pearls and fall to the ground. She hopes this will badly injure her so she cannot possibly have babies in the future. Huh? How does falling like that do permanent damage? XD Charmaine of course suspects it wasn’t an accident, due to the way the thread was forced apart. When Charmaine brings this up to Tavia, she becomes cranky that Charmaine is always suspecting her out of all people. The argument gets no where and Mary soon arrives to see Selena.

Upon check-up with the doctor, it turns out Selena’s injures weren’t too serious and instead, a new discovery was made- she is actually pregnant! Selena is absolutely thrilled and Mary seems to give credit to Charmaine for her blessing. Need I say Tavia was extremely..um… take a look at the picture below:

Selena is pregnant

Selena is pregnant and Tavia tries to gain attention

In order to take Moses’s attention away from Selena, Tavia pretends to be ill from missing her unborn too much. However, to her surprise, Mary comes in to see her instead of Moses. When she notices the jewelery/items that were initially left for her unborn lying on the bed, she tells her to pack it away since it’s not good luck having it around now that Selena is pregnant. lol, I actually thought this was very amusing! Is Tavia running out of ideas? She seems to think that by using her baby’s death as an excuse, she can win Moses’s heart again. I’m sure by now even the audience has gotten over it- the baby’s death is a thing of the past. Everyone has moved on and accepted it to be an unfortunate incident. Yi Kei, who was responsible for it (or so they thought) is already dead. What more does she expect? Her thinking is a bit too naive here. Let’s see if she can come up with any better ideas. On a side note, if Moses’s attention to one concubine (Selena) is enough to make her go crazy, what happens when he takes more in the future? XD Surely she doesn’t think her beauty and charm can keep him forever?

What do you think of Episode 24? Does Michelle annoy you here as much as it did for me? What about Tavia? Do you think her plans are getting weaker? How do you feel about the characters referring Charmaine as a goddess? Drop a comment and let us know!

Awesome episode sypnosis! You really seem to despise Michelle, haha so do I.
She seriously is the most unreasonable person; immature and childish. But her nature isnt evil, especially when compared to Tavia!
Poor Susanna.. always getting bullied XP And so heartbroken to see her own son hate his mother like that :[
Oh, and the comparison with Charmaine to a goddess was so over-dramatic! XD Everyone just adores Sam Ho in a way thats over the top, like jeez!
Cant wait for the next post!

Michelle was driving me absolutely crazy!! I couldn’t stand watching her! Keep updating the summaries!!

    • chibi says:

Thanks Cooldudejohn! Good to know I wasn’t over-reacting..which I wonder a lot of the times. I think ‘Can someone really be THIS annoying?’ and all I need is to see Michelle in any scene and the answer is clear! XD

  • engsamnang says:

Michelle totally the bitchy of all but can be even an evil person. athought her performance always hold at the high peak, her charactor developed too strong on her hatred which refund a immature and unreasonable apsect to susanna while chamarine charactor. TOO TOO goddess and TOO pure kindness. How possible this kind of people exist in our world? she really bore me out of the series especially with her watch over tavia scene gave out non-thriller and mystery theme but revealed her as stupid and pointless. FOr Tavia backthen flavoured me to a trickable and clever villian but in this episode, Her scheme just not only unclever and so routine which reminds her only her baby’s death to be the brige to won over Moses’s heart. Who care about the death? everyone now need to care about the born as now Selena’s prenancy may decreased the palace’s sadness and unfornate event, especially let the time for moses more with selena but no time for Tavia to controlled thoes recycle trick to persuded him into her line. I thought Tavia must need better idea to conflict what she want. Overall, This episode consist a lot of affort and bright idea to lying around the series but the script had ruin it all with poorly-development and pointless idea. Heard Beyond had the number of writer. I will be blame the one who write this episode for their typical script whict contruct a amount of negative view to destroy the story of the grand production which had all but a golden script.

    • chibi says:

I agree with many points you have written about the series, but I don’t think the drama is totally ruined by it, it’s still a very good watch 🙂 I just can’t wait until the truth comes out to see Michelle’s face XD

Thanks for sharing your thoughts ^_^

      • engsamnang says:

No, i don’t mean that the script ruin the whole series but just this episode with too draggy and illogical point, represent the mistake involved to the story. Moreover, I never said a word bad to this drama but i love it so much with its theme, the previous episdode were so gripping and intense with my taste even better with point. However, It’s ok. Just your mistake reading my comment as well as mine too. Thank you for reply and wait for your next update for beyond.

Michelle is driving me crazy, and she continues to do so. She’s such a bitch! (the character, i mean!) ><
Can't believe that a few episodes ago (that is the start of 22), i really loved watching her. She potentially would be my favourite and most hated character of this series. Seriously, because i think her character is well developed. Compared to like Charmaine who definitely does not exist in real life, being so pure and goody-two-shoes, and Tavia, who is so evil and yet not very smart! surprised that she could survive for so long. In a sense, i think that susanna and Michelle's characters are more believable, because they are less extreme. But michelle's headstrong character definitely exists, with all the unreasonableness and the bitchyness and all. Because I've been on the receiving end of such things, (yes in school no less!), though to lesser extent (thankfully). And yes, there is a time to fight back and hold your ground! Like susanna^^
I enjoyed susanna when she fought back! Though at this point, I kind of, kind of, i reiterate, pitied michelle because i feared that she would be stripped of the position. Yes, imagine me who has used the word 'bitch' and 'annoying' to describe her pitying her! (For a very very brief moment) Before she annoyed me so severely again!
I definitely don't think that michelle is evil, she's just horribly irrational, blinded, unreasonable and childish! need i say annoying and bitchy?
I did think that Michelle truly cares for and loves Vin (why, good question! because, well, he treats her well, ram treats him like a son, they have chemistry, and yeahh..) and there's an episode that proves that, but she indirectly got him into the predicament in the first place. then she looked so lost and stuff, and like when she lost ram. she can't think straight when such things happen, even when it involves Vin. She seems to not be able to control anything whenever something happens to someone close to her. other times she seems so much more rational!
I pity Michelle (as in the actress) for having such an annoying character that even those people who love the actress keep cursing her character to die here! But really, how can she be so annoying! I'm sure it's not just the script! For those who have seen her elsewhere, she's so endearing! (esp when she plays moms! :D)
She's more annoying than tavia, even though michelle can't even compare to tavia in terms of evilness. but tavia can't compare to michelle in terms of annoying-ness. tavia's annoyance seemed so insignificant compared to michelle.
Ugh, why is she so annoying!
And don't curse her to die just yet! Because i'm already not happy with the ending. if she dies! omg. i will explode i tell you! okay i better shut up, in case well… D:

    • chibi says:

Seriously, because i think her character is well developed.

hmm..not sure I can agree with that one XD I mean she has a lot of different sides to her, but a well developed character can’t be this annoying, right? Watching her has become so unbearable because she feels too “dumb”. It does make her more rounded as a character as oppose to say, Charmaine- who is only one side (perfectly good) but I think she still has too many personality flaws ^^; Makes me dislike her character too much.. (are we suppose to hate her THIS much?) I’m not sure if that’s what TVB had intended, either.

Tavia, who is so evil and yet not very smart!
Yeah… after watching so many episodes I think we already know her capabilities and the tricks she uses~ they’re all very similar. I guess her recklessness makes her a easy target. Think about it, Charmaine busts her EVERY TIME XD No one else seems to..

Because I’ve been on the receiving end of such things, (yes in school no less!),
That really sucks for you >.< Glad things aren't as bad as the drama! But the thing is.. you mention it happening at school- Michelle is nowhere near school-age XD She's probably in her mid 50s by now.. surely she doesn't need to act like a immature high schooler? XD The way she behaves makes me think otherwise.

I kind of, kind of, i reiterate, pitied michelle because i feared that she would be stripped of the position.
aw, you have such a soft-heart ^.^ I didn’t feel any pity towards her. She didn’t deserve the Head position to begin with 🙁

I pity Michelle (as in the actress) for having such an annoying character that even those people who love the actress keep cursing her character to die here! But really, how can she be so annoying! I’m sure it’s not just the script! For those who have seen her elsewhere, she’s so endearing! (esp when she plays moms! )
Must say I’m a bit disappointed… before watching this drama, I liked seeing her- but now she’s so unbearable to watch elsewhere >.< Maybe it's her costume and the way she looks.. it just doesn't give me a good feeling towards her! argh! She's even more annoying than in Moonlight Resonance.

tavia’s annoyance seemed so insignificant compared to michelle.
      Agree. No where close!

      • *xueling* says:

I don’t know, but maybe it’s just be being biased against characters who are like perfectly good or perfectly bad (charmaine and tavia being two fantastic examples here!). But yeah, she does have alot of personality flaws, (being dumb and annoying happens to be like two of the major ones!).
I actually don’t think that we were supposed to hate her this much, really, but she’s like SO annoying. I’m wondering if the scriptwriters underestimated (and severely at that) how much annoyance she’d cause or whether it’s her acting. Because i doubt it makes sense for them to want to split the “hatred’ amongst two characters, fine if the eviller one (or the one that they want to get more attention, ie. tavia) gets most emotional response from the viewers, but no, it happens to be michelle.

tavia is not very smart, if not one charmaine won’t be able to bust her (then again, it’s just bad scriptwriting. as with michelle’s character)

there is a reason why i’m reacting so badly to michelle playing this super annoying role! but yeahh, she’s nowhere near school age. I mean her character, one must never link her roles with the actress, because she’d be evil. (well, that was last time with brink and moonlight). Now she’d be evil and annoying! omg >< but i doubt that many other people could take this role and be THAT annoying, seriously. she annoyed the heck out of me.

I don't fully agree that she didn't deserve the head position, (based on ability) because the empress dowager favours susanna over michelle and when she chose susanna, she didn't even think of michelle at all. And she was like "now that you bring it up, she is indeed not too bad a candidate" . So i think talent wise, she's actually on par with susanna in the show, especially since we start off the show with michelle being a higher rank than susanna. So i'm actually fine if she was given the head position (well, not by threatening susanna, that is. maybe if let's say susanna decided to give it to her or something).
Maybe, you could say that if she got stripped, she might be beaten or something. And thrown out of the bureau.

I liked seeing her before and after this show. No difference to me, because it's just this show that's annoying. And i think you will recover from this michelle as an actress is annoying when you get to the later parts of the show. Because it really does get better, if not i would not have finished it. but for now, be "content" with cursing her everytime you see her. She(the actress) really wastes alot of my emotions, I seldom get so annoyed with people. My annoyance with tavia was negligible compared to michelle. Seriously. (the scriptwriters fault. or they underestimate her acting ability severely.)
She's really so endearing (can't believe i'm saying this) in shows like heart, academy, and gentle!

        • chibi says:

It’s possible it’s the way Michelle portrayed her character.. a bit too extreme. A lot of it had to do with the way she spoke and the facial expression. x_x

So i think talent wise, she’s actually on par with susanna in the show
True, though I’m sure there’s more to the criteria than just the talent- but also personality and character. (Wouldn’t it be so funny if Charmaine became it instead? ahaha XD)

And i think you will recover from this michelle as an actress is annoying when you get to the later parts of the show. Because it really does get better

          Okies..that’s good to hear!

Yeahh, she looked like a bitch, spoke like a bitch, acted like a bitch. ._. She did have to keep reiterating that her character was not bad, so i doubt she would have purposely done that? o.0

“True, though I’m sure there’s more to the criteria than just the talent- but also personality and character. (Wouldn’t it be so funny if Charmaine became it instead? ahaha XD)”
It would be distasteful if charmaine got it instead. Distasteful.
The other criteria, i thought, happened to be whether the empress dowager liked you (much like in real life). and she happened to like susanna, so yeahh.

          “Okies..that’s good to hear!”

That’s not before it climaxes however. :O prepare for somemore of this nonsense, though the focus kind of shifts away already

  • dreamlucky says:

haha, yes. i nearly couldn’t continue watching this show because of the way michelle treated susanna. if i were susanna, i would have taken my revenge on her. but i loved the way susanna talked back to michelle! ^^

  • Fiona says:

**** ANOTHER AWESOME EPISODE!!!!! I mean, Michelle and Susanna talking then all of a sudden the moon gets covered by the clouds! LOL that’s really awesome.

Yeah…getting really pissed off at Michelle here too 😆

  • 'Muff says:

When I was watching the drama during parts where Michelle started doing all these mean things to Susanna, I was so disappointed that the friendship she had with Susanna, which had gone through a lot, was broken up like this, and seemed like it would never get better. I liked watching the two as friends 🙁 So seeing Susanna get picked on like this was bad D: but good on Susanna for standing up.

Michelle does really care for Vin though, so she was just threatening Susanna so she could feel as if she was in power again. xD

When I saw that Charmaine had made such a pretty hair piece for Selena and her gift for Tavia seemed so much blander in comparison, I thought this was sort of her way of getting back at Tavia, by spending less effort on her gift, haha. And I was thinking, “Uh oh, Tavia’s gonna hate on you even more.”

I thought when Tavia threw down her hanky, she was testing if Charmaine would notice and pick it up, but saw that Charmaine just kept talking to Selena. Looks like she actually had other intentions though XD (She was getting really desperate to bring Selena down) But when she broke her necklace, it was more of a rushed thing, with no planning beforehand.

She didn’t consider what a silly thing it was to do; as Charmaine pointed out, the wire/string was too tough. Tavia hasn’t been keeping her previous life as a jewellery worker to heart, heh.

How ironic it was that while Tavia cursed Selena to lose ability to reproduce, that the doctor comes out to announce that Selena was pregnant! What a blow. Selena kept getting ‘miracles’. Ooh, Tavia’s getting really jealous.

    • chibi says:

I was so disappointed that the friendship she had with Susanna, which had gone through a lot, was broken up like this

      yeah..it makes their friendship feel so shallow and weak :{

I thought this was sort of her way of getting back at Tavia, by spending less effort on her gift, haha. And I was thinking, “Uh oh, Tavia’s gonna hate on you even more.”

lol!! You actually thought that? XD hahaa..now I’m not sure if that’s how she really felt- I just thought Tavia didn’t take it to greatly because of the whole “goddess blessing a baby” thing- moreso than she got a prettier jewelery.

I thought when Tavia threw down her hanky, she was testing if Charmaine would notice and pick it up, but saw that Charmaine just kept talking to Selena. Looks like she actually had other intentions though XD
Good point..what was with the dropping hanky thing? O_o

But when she broke her necklace, it was more of a rushed thing, with no planning beforehand. Totally acted on impulse… wrong move Tavia.. you seriously think no one would suspect you if you just pretend it was an accident? Come on! lol it’s too suspicious.

  • hello says:

anyone feels that michelle looks funny wearing the head of proceedings outfit? I feel that she’s abit too thin

    • chibi says:

I have noticed that actually! Michelle seems a lot skinnier these days (thin around the neck especially).

I think she looks strange in the Head position outfit because we are so used to seeing Hor Wai wear it (and she’s slightly more chubby)

  • Kayy LOVES RI says:

Tavia is running low on evil ideas she keeps using her baby’s death. i dont think anyone really care about it and they are getting sick of the baby’s death. What else does she want them to do? kill someone else? to make her feel better.=)

  • Random says:

I know 😛 If you guys noticed at the part where Tavia pretended to sucide she was alone and said son, I will take revenge for you… So techniczally it made it look like she actually thought that the mother or Selena killed her son 😛
