Scary..very scary. This episode has to be the most intense and suspenseful episode ever. I was left sitting on the edge of my seat fearing for everyone’s lives. The whole mood suddenly became so much darker; the end is drawing near. There’s only 3 episodes left, can you believe that? Our journey of exploring the world of [Beyond the Realm of Conscience] through these blog entries are coming to a conclusion! It’s quite exciting but there’s still a few more posts to put together (please look forward to them).  For now, let me calm down and take a deep breath before I get started on this. My heart is still beating really fast!

This episode focuses heavily on Kwok Lun’s evil scheme, taking down our beloved Kwok Keung while Tavia’s attack on Selena reach new heights!

Moses, Kevin and Kwok Keung discuss in secret, planning ways to get Kwok Lun down. The day Selena’s baby is born is the day Kwok Lun will rule over the Country! Selena was already 7 months pregnant, which leaves them with very little time to take action.

Kwok Keung sees Selena with Tavia

Kwok Keung notices Tavia’s fragrance

Kwok Keung goes to visit his beloved daughter and finds her accompanied by Tavia. He becomes very suspicious of her when he recognises an aroma around her. When the two are alone, he asks Selena about her relationship with Tavia, where she happily says she has been very good to her, always staying by her side to keep her company. This raises his concern even more, especially when she tells him she hasn’t had much appetite lately, or slept well.

As Susanna is getting beaten up on the ground, Kwok Keung rushes in to stop them! Kwok Lun had previously owed him a favour, so he requests him to set Susanna free in exchange. I thought it was very manly of him for pushing the guard away from her 🙂 You can see how much love and concern he has for her, amplified after realising she had his child!! *squeals like a fan girl* >.<; He owes her too much, and I can’t begin to imagine how much regret and remorse he feels for “neglecting” her. Thankfully, this episode contains quite a few happy moments for the two which I really enjoyed watching. Finally the truth is out! Oh.. how long have I waited for this moment 😀

Kwok Keung comes to rescue Susanna

Kwok Keung saves Susanna

Meanwhile, Kwok Lun is extremely impatient by the lack of news on Charmaine’s disappearance. He highly suspects she has already left the Palace and asks Moses for permission to search outside. Moses disagrees with his thinking, saying it’s no easy task for a servant to leave the Palace grounds. Kwok Lun pretty much hit the nail by saying he suspects Kevin has run away with her, which makes escaping highly probable. (haha, Kwok Lun is still persistent they’re having an affair) Just when Moses was left in a pinch, Kevin returns to the Palace! What a relief! Kwok Lun is obviously very confused, hahaa..but what came next was even more of a shocker!

Charmaine is soon discovered in the Palace, who apparently had fallen into a well for several days unconscious. Kwok Lun raises an eye-brow over her story but with Mary backing her up, he has nothing to say XD His lost facial expression was very amusing!

They are all back in square one with Charmaine’s marriage to the Prince to resume. It turns out the two came back for Moses because they felt it was wrong for them to leave him behind with all the mess. In a sense, it feels like the whole ordeal was such a waste of time. Was there any point of them running away to begin with…?  Well, not really, except for some fan service and love making XD XD I’m probably a bit too skeptical on this part, but I can’t help but think the story writers made them leave just so the audience gets to see them intimate; seeing as they would never do that within the Palace, lol. Otherwise they just wanted a way to get Charmaine pregnant for story purposes, and didn”t want her breaking palace rules since Charmaine is so pure and good- (yet they secretly married.. Great).</rant>

Charmaine and Kevin return to the Palace

Charmaine and Kevin return to the Palace

Kevin and Charmaine tell Moses they have a plan to make the Prince not want to marry her. There is a particular substance which once applied to the face will cause allergic reactions to the skin, causing it to dissolve and swell. This would make Charmaine unattractive, and so would his desire to marry her. I thought this was pretty smart move until it turns out the damage is PERMANENT. What the hecccckkk? Why are their ideas getting worse and worse? The characters are usually so smart, yet this time they go to so many extremes. FAIL. EPIC FAIL. Moses soon realises this and stops Charmaine just in time. I know Kevin and Charmaine love each other very much, and it’s very romantic for him to say this, but come on.. Kevin is joking when he tells her “I love you for your kindness, your personality,  not your outer beauty.” LIES! LIES! XD We saw from the moment they met he was always staring at her face.  This is slightly random, but I’m sure Charmaine’s success in the Palace also had A LOT to do with her having a pretty face as well as her personality. Don’t try to convince us it would have been the same if Charmaine was dead ugly. No one would even give her any attention.

Seeing as Charmaine would go to such lengths, Moses comes up with his own plan…

Tavia completely loses her composure, exploding with jealousy over Moses defending Charmaine from Kwok Lun and not her. “Why is everyone standing on your side, always helping you?!” It seems now things have become very personal. Only when Charmaine is non-existent can she have “good days”.  No matter how much she tries, Charmaine is always a few steps ahead of her, including being Moses’s favourite, despite being the concubine. I can kind of see where she’s coming from, but come on..is it necessary to hate her so much when really, it’s Moses’s heart she cannot control? *sigh* Emotions can be quite illogical and Tavia acts on them quite impulsively.  Her possessive and competitive nature is becoming ever so prominent.

The Prince falls for Charmaine

The Prince falls for Charmaine

Tavia borrows the Goddess of Mercy painting from Selena and deliberately drops it on the ground where the Prince was present. He becomes very fond of the Goddess’s beauty and Tavia explains it’s based off a real person, Charmaine! She praises Charmaine as a living Goddess and Selena also joins in to compliment what a lovely person she is, without knowing Tavia’s actual intent. The Prince becomes very interested to meet this lady and secretly peeks at Charmaine in the Garden. lol, What a pervert! He becomes completely mesmerized by her beauty with the desire to make her his woman. He speaks to Moses and requests to take Charmaine as his bride! Moses and Kevin become very shocked and worried by his request… but what can they do? How can they say refuse and risk a broken alliance?

Upon hearing the news, Charmaine is devastated as her heart and soul belongs with Kevin (heck, they’re married!) Selena feels awful for Charmaine, especially knowing she praised her character in front of the Prince too. This of course was all part of Tavia’s evil plan to rid her.. but to her surprise, Selena found a way to save her! She suggests to Moses to take Charmaine as his concubine!! This of course backfires Tavia’s plan which makes her even more angry, but Moses wasn’t keen on agreeing. To Moses, Charmaine is married to Kevin, he knows the two belong with one another… How can he go back on his words to let them live happily ever after? But is it worth putting the entire country at risk for two people’s happiness? What a dilemma…

Charmaine and Kevin

Kevin and Charmaine’s future is under Moses’s hand

Eventually, Moses decides to let Kevin run away with Charmaine.. huh? WHAT!? I actually thought this was the most ridiculous plan I have ever heard..that’s just asking for war!! Since when has running away ever solved a problem?  I can’t believe he suggested this, but he has no other way and will deal with things as they come. Uh-oh….I really fear for Moses >.<

Cupid Stupid

Synopsis

How would one’s horoscope be interpreted and affect one’s love life? A simple note that reads “Getting to meet the most important person in your life” is strong enough to draw fishmonger CHI YAT PO (Steven Ma), toy shop assistant KAN NGO LAM (Tavia Yeung) and toy designer KOON SING HO (Michael Tse) into a torrid love triangle. When making their way out of the maze, the three of them begin to hesitate. Can one’s love life really be predicted?

Unlike his childhood friend LAM, PO does not believe in horoscopes. But this does not affect their friendship at all and they are even closer than ever. PO is held up to ridicule while trying to save LAM from her lovelorn woe. Believing that PO is her Mr. Right, LAM seeks every opportunity to express her love for him. Sadly PO has realized this too late, and LAM is already going out with HO, with whom she is very compatible in terms of star signs, personalities and interests. HO’s ex-girlfriend FONG CHEUK KEI (Mandy Cho) cannot bear to part from the man, forcing LAM to give up on the relationship reluctantly. During this most difficult time, PO has once again stood by LAM with tender loving care. As time goes by, the pair has gradually developed a genuine affection for each other. All of a sudden, HO turns up and asks to get back with LAM. To LAM, HO is a dream while PO helps keep her feet on the ground. Who is she going to stay with in the end?

[Beyond the Realm of Conscience] Episode 27 is quite an exciting one! There is a great focus on Michelle and Susanna which was actually very pleasant to watch! Let’s jump straight into the synopsis, shall we? 🙂

Vin successfully beats Susanna up, leaving her in tears and pain… She smiled for a second, thinking he came to save her but was shocked to find it was the opposite! Her heart is completely broken knowing her own son put in the effort and money just to hit her 🙁 I secretly hoped lightning would suddenly strike, but I guess that would be too superstitious XD What a nasty scene, and Vin was really stupid!! Arghhh… Poor Susanna :'( I pity her so much. (On a random note, I actually got spoiled this scene once during dinner….I was like, “What?! Susanna has a kid? Ram is dead??” Yeah..poor me, I got spoiled THAT much by accident….  It was obvious from what she said that Vin was her child. I wonder why he didn’t catch on? XD Oh wells, the audience is just that much smarter!)

Vin beats up Susanna

Vin beats up Susanna without hesitation

Michelle expected Susanna to not do any of her work, but she proves her wrong by performing above and beyond. Michelle is surprised seeing Susanna work so diligently which reminds her what a reliable person she is. When questioned her motive for working so hard (even in pain), she explains she simply wants to help her out.  She has always wanted the best for her but because of Ram’s passing, she has doubted and misunderstood her. Michelle becomes confused, by what she sees and how she thinks of her. Has she perhaps really misunderstood something? Mary has been impressed with the House of Proceedings yearly results since Michelle became the Head- but Michelle knew it wouldn’t have been possible without Susanna’s help.

Michelle soon learns from Vin that he had bashed Susanna and threw back the shoes at her. Michelle is surprised by the extent of his treatment! As doubts start flowing into her mind, we start seeing signs of guilt. Alone in Ram’s room, Michelle reflects back on what Susanna had said to her- how she didn’t see Ram at first, but then admits she did see him. Which is the truth and which is a lie? “Ram, please tell me if she really is the murderer or not” she whispers to herself. Suddenly an old creepy voice calls out to her O__O HOW SCARY!! lol This was so creepy and comical at the same time (not sure if it was intentional XD) Did anyone else get sudden chills? haha! It was quite amusing.

In [Beyond the Realm of Conscience] episode 26, Charmaine finally confronts Tavia for her evil-doing and scheme! In this blog entry, I will be mainly focusing on their scenes and sharing my thoughts on the matter 🙂

Upon discovering the unburnt paper, Charmaine asks Selena whether or not her mother really used a voodoo to harm Tavia’s baby. Selena admits she doesn’t know for sure and can only trust that her mother is saying the truth. However, what she does know is that the voodoo she was aware of was in fact destroyed- she burnt it personally. As to why a second one came up is still a mystery. This raises Charmaine’s alarm… it was all a scheme?

Charmaine asks Selena about the voodoo

Charmaine asks Selena about Yi Kei and the Voodoo

The next morning, Charmaine confronts Tavia about her baby’s death date, revealing the unburnt paper she had found. She managed to put all the pieces together to make up the full picture (with 100% accuracy XD), knowing she was used as part of her evil scheme. Tavia angrily snaps back, claiming she didn’t do anything wrong, which prompts Charmaine to tell Mary the situation. Tavia becomes extremely desperate and begs Charmaine not to tell Mary, playing with her emotions and making her feel guilty for being ‘so cruel’ to her. Charmaine stays unmoved and just when she starts walking off, Tavia spits out blood! She has been in-taking too much medicine in order to hurry her health back to a state where she can conceive again. In order to survive in the Palace, she has to constantly aspire or she’ll easily become nothing. She claims everything she did was to protect herself. She brings up the past, saying she knows what it feels like to do good things- she used to be a good person herself. (Is she admitting she’s a bad person? o_o) The difference is, she’s only good to Charmaine, while Charmaine is good to everyone. Does this make Tavia a bad person? She stays firm she didn’t do anything wrong and Charmaine takes off once again..

Whose logic/argument do you believe in? Is Charmaine being naive in thinking one should not scheme or plot, no matter the circumstance? Or do you believe her thinking is right, and Tavia has taken it too far? I personally think Tavia’s argument is much more convincing, and Charmaine is being too unrealistic, especially in a place where it’s always the survival of the fittest. However, if Tavia really thought that- it would be okay, but it seems she does harm others with intent, and often without reason 🙁

This scene reminds me an awful lot like in episode 7 where  Charmaine confronts Tavia for calculating against June.

Charmaine confronts Tavia

Charmaine busts Tavia’s evil scheme and plans to report

As Charmaine is walking to see Mary, flashbacks of both the good and bad times reappear. This was one very emotional scene! I started crying, it was so heart-breaking being reminded by how good Tavia used to be and the things she did for Charmaine :{ I’m missing the old days! If you were in Charmaine’s shoes, what would you do? Would you dob in your best friend?

Ah, finally a good episode to watch where I don’t have to cringe every few seconds seeing Tavia and Michelle! In episode 25 of [Beyond the Realm of Conscience], the story focuses more on Charmaine and Kevin, something we haven’t seen for quite a while! I must say it felt interesting and refreshing 🙂 Be prepared for some tears though as there are some really emotional and touching scenes! *sniff*

After much power-play between Moses and Kwok Lun, Kevin’s father is finally release from the prison cell. It was a very happy moment for them and Charmaine and her father visit to congratulate him. The fathers teased the lovebirds, asking when the two will be getting married and starting a family. They decide to celebrate and catchup with drinks and snacks the next evening. Charmaine will be cooking up some food and her father will be preparing some quality tea. It would be a good chance for their fathers to play the new chess set, too. It was such a delight to see them so happy and optimistic!

Kevin, Charmaine and their fathers

Kevin, Charmaine and their fathers having a good time (lol, Kevin’s grin looks sus! Dirty thoughts? XD)

The evening came when Charmaine, accompanied by Kevin was heading over with some food. From afar, they see the old men by the chess table asleep. However, upon having a closer look, they have both been poisoned!! Charmaine’s father had died and Kevin’s father was in a serious critical condition; he only had a few hours left to live.

Kevin’s father lays fragile on his bed, with tears dripping from his eyes for not seeing his last wish fulfilled; which was for Kevin to get married and have kids. So sad!! 🙁 🙁 Charmaine suggests to Kevin for the two to get married immediately. Kevin initially refuses, but she insists that it’s not acted on impulse nor an  irrational move. She never got the chance to even hear what her father’s wish was. Now that Kevin has the chance, the least he can do is to let his father leave without regrets.  Moses overhears the conversation and despite it being a taboo, he graciously gives them his full support.

While his dad is half dying, the two proceed with the wedding ceremony they quickly put together. awww…it was so so sad..yet sweet at the same time ;'(  When Charmaine offers tea to her father-in-law, he says his last few words and passes away.. he never got the chance to drink the tea 🙁 I loved this whole scene- I thought it was really beautiful and Charmaine and Kevin shared some much needed chemistry. Anyone agree?
