  • TVB Lives of Omission
  • Just finished watching the series! I didn’t find the finale that exciting..I’m not sure whether it’s because they showed us the episode preview the night before and it had most of the spoilers; or if it was predictable, usual typical kind of the ending. There were also a lot of flashbacks which I felt were repetitive…
  • Overall, it was an enjoyable series but it unfortunately did not make it to my top favourites of the year. The ratings were high but I wasn’t kept interested throughout… it felt like something critical was missing. I felt EU was a  lot better. I liked how Laughing’s character is pretty much the same as in EU and incoporated into his “Laughing-Sir” role. It was like “this is what Laughing would be doing if he lived from EU, completed his mission and returned to the police force”. When Laughing once again returned as an undercover in episode 15; it wasn’t that suspenseful because we already knew he was one but I was looking forward to him being in action again anyway. The important characters in the movie knew his identity and he also had the support from the woman he loved so he wasn’t that lonely/misunderstood. It felt like they overused undercovers in the series and I noticed Laughing used the same method twice (saying MCJin and Derek were his people when they were busted) to get away with things. I think Laughing got into “Yee Fung” too easily.
  • While Laughing was the main character in the series and I like his character a lot, it felt like Bosco’s “Bai-Co” stood out more and Laughing was playing a more supporting role.

[K-TVB.net] Happy 5th Anniversary!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY K for TVB!!!

  • Happy Birthday from Laughing XD

10 September 2011 marks K-TVB’net’s 5th year online!!! 😀 I’m really proud that it has made it this far- it didn’t feel that along ago when I first started it and it was a tiny little personal TVB blog XD I didn’t think it would become so big and successful; and it grew rapidly after it first lauched. Five years is a  very big personal achievement for me and this online blog remains a special spot in my life haha It grew older with me and been by my side for the past 5 years.  Over these 5 years, there has been ups and down but I’m happy to say that K-TVB.net is still standing strong and commited to sharing TVB  thoughts and updates. Visitor hits continue to average 1,000 a day!! And we’ve also launched to facebook this year too 🙂 [Join us if you haven’t yet!!]  A  lot of TVB Blogs have shut down and eventually K-TVB.net could share the same fate. All good things come to an end right? Here today, I would like to  happily announce it isn’t K-TVB.net’s turn just yet! Hopefully there will be many more anniversaries to come!

I would really like to take this opporunity to really thank you guys!! I wouldn’t have made it this far without all your support- your comments, praises, word of encouragement; sharing the same excitement as I have while watching these TVB dramas; your regular visits and sticking by my side! You guys are awesome XD

And Last, but not least,  thanks chibi for her continous support from the very beginning! :)..And the awesome new banner!!!!

The Life and Times of Sentinel Ending

  • The 2 hour finale was really exciting to watch!!
  • I really like the last episode because it was really suspenseful and action packed. All the truths were revealed; all Kenneth (Fuk Chun)’s evil doings/scheming- all the people he killed; Grand Empress’ deeds & changing the will; Steven (Lip Dor Bo)’s true identity
  • Natalie (Gwai-Lun) finally realises Kenneth never loved her and reconciles with Elaine (Man-Kwan) (although Elaine can no longer can move or speak)
  • Selena(Ji Ying) and Steven share some really sweet scenes and risk their lives to save each other as they try to escape from the palace together
  • In the 2 hours, 50mins of it was the palace scene where Kenneth was trying to take back his throne. A lot of it was shown in episode 1 and I was sitting there anxiously trying to find out what was going to happen! I know Steven has something up his sleeve but I didn’t know what it was. I sat there watching Steven “help” Kenneth and reveal the Grand Empress’s wrong doings and revealing the will Sunny had written!  Everyone was going against Power Chan (Hong-hei Emperor ) as Kenneth has successfully manipulated and bribed everyone; his 5th brother Tsui Wing ( Sheung-Ning) , his father in-law’s army; Evergreen; Stephen Wong’s father etc
  • Just as Kenneth was about to sit on his throne; the biggest  secret and  twist to the story was revealed which turned the tables: Steven is actually the 4th Prince whom the Grand Empress thought she had killed when he was only a baby. He was also the “Tai Zi”, which meant he should have been the Emperor all along.
  • It was also a very emotional scene; watching how show grateful/shocked/guilty the Grand Empress was to realise who Steven really was (coming back to protect Power after all the bad things she did to him); the devastation and denial written all over Kenneth’s face(I still pitied him); the saddness Steven showed- the truth  just shocked everyone- such impact!
  • That part was so awesome!!! I was so shocked/surprised/impressed with what I was seeing!! I never thought I’d feel this satisfied from an ending episode. I didn’t see it coming at all – I was just overwhelmed by everything
  • I thought it was really sad how Steven had to suffer so much through the series to come to this conclusion…he finally freed his vengeful heart which he couldn’t let go of through the series
  • While the awesomness was happening; it suddenly occured to me that this truth made Steven and Selena brother and sister  🙁
  • When Kenneth was going to suicide; Steven stopped him by grabbing onto the blade with his hand >< then slapping him across the face to wake him up and to make him realise they were all one family-the whole “family” thing was so touching!!
  • Steven leaves the palace; leaving his 3rd brother Power to continue as the Emperor; the Grand Empress realises all her wrong doings but Steven forgives her and shows her he no longer hates her. He bids farewell to her and calls her by “Grandmother” -very touching scene. He made me no longer hate the Grand Empress either…
  • Power gives two cups of wine to Kenneth- one supposedly having poison and the other not. Kenneth thinking they both  have posion in them anyway drank both of them. It turns out neither of them had poison as Power wanted to let him off. Kenneth and Natalie are let off together in a far away place; living a normal life. Their son is kept in the palace as Power did not want the son growing up like his father. While Kenneth laid on the grass in the open, he happily daydreams and calls Natalie by “Man-Kwan”(Elaine). Poor Natalie…what can she do though if he doesn’t love her =X
  • After all the mess that was happening in the palace; it was finally brough to an end and I could feel the relief and peace again.
  • The only thing that was left a bit sad was Steven and Selena’s pairing. Steven finds Selena who thought she could spend the rest of her life with him. In the last 5 mins of the series, Selena gets killed by her servant on the streets just before Steven got the chance to tell her >< She ends up dying in his arms. I felt this was TVB’s way to “resolve” Steven and Selena’s relationship. I know there’s more to life than love, but while it is a sad ending; it might be more sad for her to face the truth. At least she died, without knowing she could never have been with him; which she revealed was her biggest wish… : ( Still so heartbreaking though!
  • One year later..I think Steven turned into a monk..(At first I thought Kenneth’s character was quite tragic..but I don’t think he can compare to Steven at all) I felt really sad for his character..what does he have left..?
  • Overall,I really enjoyed watching the series for its storyline and characters. Another series to add to my like-list of 2011  😉 I thought Steven and Kenneth were brillant in their roles and sad that Steven will be leaving TVB 🙁 I really hoped the series would get good ratings ><
  • The ending was brilliant!- probably the best/satisfying TVB ending I’ve seen in a very long time!
  • What did you guys think of the ending?

Nancy Wu & Wayne Lai @ Autograph Session Sydney

Hey all! The once a year Sydney TVB Jadeworld Carnival has come and gone. This year we had Nancy Wu and Wayne Lai come and I was quite excited when I first heard about it, given they’re from the awesome No Regrets series and will be playing a married couple in the upcoming grand production “Forensic Heroes 3” later this year. Much anticipated 🙂

It has been about 2 years since I went to one of those Jadecarnivals as I have always been busy with studies/exams during that time. This year I planned to go see them but unfortuntely was down with the cold 🙁 I stayed in bed for the day hoping to recover or be in a better state to see them at the autograph session instead (which was today). I did watch some youtube clips that someone has kindly uploaded to share and saw the 2 singing 🙂 Anyone go to see them ? Any experiences to share? It looked like pretty nice day outside.

This morning I woke up not feeling so great, but thought I’d go see them anyway(last chance!) XD When I got to Sussex Centre around 2pm, I didn’t see much of a crowd so I got a bit confused on why nothing was set up given start time was approaching. I then later realised half an hour later they were having it at the Food court upstairs- wtf??? That is one weird place to have an autograph session. People are trying to eat there… =.= There was a huge crowd this year with quite a lot of old grannies and gramps lol I’m guessing they were there mainly for Wayne??

Anyways, I managed to find myself a nice spot right at the front to take some photos and video recording of them 🙂 I would have had some better videos/photos if the security guards didn’t keep standing in my way. Wayne and Nancy look exactly like on TV lol Extra friendly of course, Wayne and Nancy kept smiling and waving at me ^^ Nancy talked a bit about the Boxing series, while Wayne mentioned Forensic Heroes 3 (releasing in October as this year’s grand production), filming new series with Kent, and “The Great Eunuch”. The session went pretty quick (half an hour in total) and they soon left. Chibi managed to get autographs (I’m so jealous XD)

I’ve compiled the clips together and uploaded on youtube:
