The Beauty of the Game

Synopsis

Setting out on their quest for fame and fortune, three female TV stars of different backgrounds are resolved to achieve their dreams at any price. But after so many ups and downs in their acting careers, they finally come to discover the secret of true beauty.

Driven by sheer vanity, KO CHING MAN (Kate Tsui) takes part in a beauty pageant despite the strong opposition of her mother, a long-retired actress named CHEUNG LAI HUNG (Yuen King Tan), and leaps to stardom soon after winning the championship. Rising actress TONG HO YEE (Sharon Chan) feels threatened by MAN and decides to join another TV station to look for a breakthrough, which is not supported by her production assistant friend DEACON CHONG (Chris Lai Lok Yi). Leading actress KEUNG CHIN FUNG (Christine Ng) used to be a bitter rival of HUNG. Realizing that MAN’s acting career is taking off at top speed, FUNG means to approach her as a mentor, through which she hopes to drag the girl into her moral downfall bit by bit. Desperate for everlasting beauty, FUNG injects herself with illegal substances in an attempt to slow the aging process. But things do not really go as planned and her face starts to change in shape. Her advertising deal with a cosmetics company is subsequently canceled and MAN has soon replaced her as the new product endorser. Even the Award of Best Actress, which she has won for years, is slipping out of her hands. To vent her anger, FUNG seeks to extract revenge on MAN, finally plunging her into a world of pain and trouble.

is this like another BTROC? only not grand production…where ppl just hate each other, and yell at each other…haha

  • jojo says:

hmm seems interesting! they all look really pretty in the picture too ^^

  • Kayy LOVES RI says:

maybe this might be something i’ll watch…

  • KTVB says:

It sounds like they’re going to be a lot of bitching and scheming ..which can get quite annoying lol Hopefully it won’t be too annoying to watch. The idea sounds kinda interesting though (Not too fond of the cast though)

  • kinki says:

Off wiki, it says that almost all of the characters in this series are antagonists (*eye rolls*). I mean isn’t this a bit too much?! Personally, I like Christine Ng and Sharon Chan. Kate Tsui, not so much.

  • Rin says:

Doesn’t sound too bad but um.. ANOTHER Kate Tsui series? D:
I hope she’s not the only “good” girl in there and like the other two are scheming evil witches lol.

    • KTVB says:

They go in phases..Sharon and Kate start off good, they go bad and then they turn back good after lol

So at the end- everyone turns back good lol

      • TerrficallyMagical says:

Why, of course >.> it IS TVB. so the “bad” people MUST turn good somehow. sigh, when will they learn?

  • Chris says:

Ah, now this is a series that I look forward to enjoying over my winter break.

Gonna watch this and start on BTROC.

Lol I like Kate Tsui. It’s going to be funny seeing her in a beauty pageant again! XD

And also Wong Cho Lam, I heard he was going to be a reporter or something, gonna be funny! XD

  • Kassy says:

    It seems interesting!

But, I’m don’t feel like watching another Kate series. Im sick of her. Sorry, I dont mean to be rude or anything but… goody goody? lol. Kate has the face of a devil~~ mean girl fits her more.

I can’t wait to see Christine and Sharon tho!!

    • Sora says:

You sound like a very superficial person (sorry if it sounds offensive). Just because some looks nasty, it doesn’t mean they are evil. Looks can be deceiving. Kate can play whatever role she wants.

    • amy kawaikami says:

that is very rude honey, imagine if you
were to act, and someone criticize you for how you look how would you feel ?!!!
sorry that i had to cuss but you know, that is not nice to say…..

    • Jason Zhu says:

I agree. You shouldn’t judge people like this, though that girl cussed, I think you totally deserved it sorry.

    • I rock says:

Ummmm…sorry? but I agree with you Kassy! 🙂
but…not that she looks like a devil…but it’s just that she’s not pretty 🙂 but her acting is fine…

  • Tim says:

support kate and hope to see drama soon

  • chibi says:

nnoooo..don’t really like watching Kate >.<

    But I dunnoo..maybe I'll give this series a try…

Only of people recommend it enough though, hah!

    • fiona says:

LOL…i think i just said above that this series looks pointless to watch…but I just started watching it last night…and by today, I’m already on the 4th episode…it’s actually pretty good! 🙂 I would recommend it… 😆 and OMG. Christine looks so pretty with her straight hair. like seriously stunningly pretty. LOL never thought she would look so pretty like that

and Gosh even though Kate was goody goody…I still hate her…well…don’t like her XD

  • boy says:

    I love kate
    I support Kate
I can’t wait to watch this drama

  • Anna says:

    this series is awesome!
I’ve watched the first couple of episodes already. this series is pretty much about the life of being a celebrity, and then there would be stuff like fighting for roles playing tricks on each other to become famous and stuff.
I don’t care what you all say but kate tsui is awesome. kate tsui! <3333

  • Kennyo says:

Kate Tsui is crap. She can’t act, she can’t sing. She’s just looking pretty. Totally talentless. Yeah, I’ll call her that – Talentless Tsui.

    • I rock says:

nahh…sorry…but LOL i don’t really her in every way possivle…don’t think she’s pretty either…i guess her acting is okay…like really okay…LOL

  • Kennyo says:

Now Christine Ng, that is one fine woman. Totally sophisticated and beautiful in spite of her age. She’s like fine wine, gets better as she age. She can act, that woman can act!

  • Fiona says:

Gosh guys…whoever didn’t start watching this series sould really start watching it! Like its really really good!! Kate Tsui…I’m on the 9th episode…where she’s just a goody goody…but seriously. I really still don’t like her…
As for Christine Ng…LOL…I don’t know if anybody watched Moonlight Resonance, but she’s just like Michelle Yim all over again…except Christine’s not as old and prettier 🙂
    and Sharon…as always, she’s okay…fine, i guess 😀

    • TerrficallyMagical says:

That’s what i thought! Sharon’s character bugged me too. i’m not done the series but i think that they rushed how sharon “becomes” bad but i found the sharon and chirs pairing cute.

  • kinki says:

I am watching this series too.
I have to say Kate’s acting is better than Sharon for sure. But I dunno why I still (and always have) like Sharon more than Kate ?? And Christine’s doing her part too!

As for the boys, Cho Lam’s really funny as usual and Lok Yi’s acting is more like Sharon’s…lol~

  • Fungyi says:

Do you have the themesong to this drama? I finished watching this series, it’s kind of ok. Cho Lam is really funny. But the ending really sucks

  • Rose says:

Anyone happen to know the necklace Kate Tsui wore, what brand is it? Or where can I be able to get it? It’s the gold necklace she had on.. thx!
