Red windmill please spin, bless my family
Pleading the wind to stop, the raindrop lowers, flowers don’t be afraid
Safflowers bloom, having a smile, blessing my family
Clouds floating around, listening to the wind speak, child don’t be afraid
Crescent moon, in time will become a full moon
Raining, snowing, obeys the sky
Missing you is like a kite, not seeing each other, having a thread to lead
Red windmill please spin, bless my family
Like separation, the raindrop lowers, child don’t be afraid
Daddy and Mummy are thinking of you.

Chibi’s Comments: I admit, when I first heard this song (before watching Beyond the Realm of Conscience) I didn’t like it. It sounded like a baby song, especially when little kids start singing along- not my cup of tea. However, I quickly grew fond of it once I started watching the drama 🙂 There are many instrumental variants of this song played in the background, but usually during sad scenes. It’s a lovely piece and Charmaine has a soothing voice-very pleasant to the ears 😀 The song lyrics convey a lot of innocence, which suits Charmaine a lot.
Hope you like my translation! What do you think of this song? Leave a comment and let us know 🙂
As usual, if I’ve misinterpreted anywhere, feel free to correct me. Thanks!
I agree with you Chibi! I wasn’t found of the song at the start but hearing Charmaine’s version, I thought it sounded quite pretty and innocent-child-like. The instrumental when it gets played in the series is <33333. It gives that bittersweet feeling to it.
Yeah ^_^ Watching a drama with the music playing can make a dramatic difference to how much we like a song. Normally if we like a drama, we like the music that accompanies it, since it reminds us of it 😀
That’s what I found with this song.
Bittersweet indeed 😀
Nice translations chibi : D
I must admit I wasn’t too fond of this song either; will probably grow on me when I start watching the series though!
hehe, thanks! Yes, I’m sure it will 🙂
We don’t hear Charmaine (character) singing it in the drama.. except her child self. Actually, I have yet to hear this specific song with Charmaine’s vocals used in the drama during ending credits.
I had the exact feeling about this song. Thought it was a kids tune when I heard it for the first time. Then immediately liking it after watching the first episode. I think this song’s really suits Charmaine and Tavia’s childhood life. This song is like their sad childhood themesong (during their scenes with Krystal Tin). It reminds me of the end of eps 1, so sad and touching! *sobs*
we r a muslim family in malaysia who have enjoyed every single episode of your show (even by understanding via subtitles only)we love the windmill song n especially ADORES lau sam ho!

Cheers!
A lovely song…simple but moving. Its haunting quality fits the show well. It worked particularly effectively with the last scene when Sam Ho (Charmaine Sheh) along with her daughter met up with Hin Yeung (presumably) on the street. With the “King” flower blossoms falling in the background, the camera pans wide and the scene freezes…the song comes on followed by the rolling credit…now that’s indelible.
Hello, could you please upload another file for the Charmaine version?
Because the for the CD version, it states that page is not found.
So, if the CD version is that, could you please upload another link or something?
Greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Yunying.
