Happy 1st Birthday [K for TVB]!

[K for TVB] has turned one years old ^^ yappeeee!! I’m quite surprised how time flies and didn’t realise this blog has been with me for a year now. I’m quite happy with how its turned out with the hits this blog has gotten! I actually tried blogging almost at least once a day … almost quite got there until I started slowing down a litte in the past month XD Nevertheless, this blog was quite fun to keep updating and it turned into a little extra bit of Homework which I had to keep a bit of time of on the side to work on. Thanks to all the readers who’ve been with me sharing my TVB experience~ You guys are awesome..

Also I’d like to thank Chibi for making that lovely banner gift ^__^

Thanks for the 313,400 hits!

Raymond told Charmaine that he didn’t really understand why Myolie got so angry at him after he gave away the soup she made for him to the other guy they worked with and Charmaine tells him that its because Myolie has a crush on him. Raymond didn’t believe her but Charmaine assured him that her female instincts were correct. In fact, she knew a long time ago and ended up getting Raymond to test Myolie to prove her point.

So for Myolie’s birthday, Charmaine told Raymond to ask Myolie out to dinner alone to celebrate with her, and said that would definitely dress up extremely nice and wear a dress. If he asked her what she would like to eat, she would say she wouldn’t mind and that he could decide. If he ordered something she doesn’t really like, she’ll say its fine anyway and give it a try.

When asked if she knew why he invited her out along, Myolie went shy and said she didn’t know, asking him why.

Charmaine then said that what she has planned to do after will cause Myolie to change her mood and attitude and become really upset.

Everything Charmaine said came true..
Charmaine appears with the Birthday cake, singing the birthday song and telling her that they planned to give her a surprise. They gave her a birthday present saying the two chose it together. Charmaine later tells her that after dinner they plan to go karaoke together and that she has brought along a lot of decent single men for her to meet, who are also looking for a girlfriend….
Myolie excuses herself going to the washroom and Charmaine claims to Raymond that her theory was correct. Raymond told her that they still have to work together and she told him not to worry because she already “hinted to her to back off”. Raymond said the rest of the dinner would awkward and Charmaine assured him that Myolie would say that she’s not feeling well and leave early.

I felt really sorry for Myolie’s character..I thought it was really really mean and slack of Charmaine to treat her like that. Raymond should feel bad too for pulling that kind of prank on her with Charmane, but I blame Charmaine for all those ideas.. Just to prove her own point. She doesn’t care about other people’s feelings and leaving that kind of memory for Myolie on her birthday. How would she feel?

Synopsis

Ballroom dancing emphasizes rhythm and mutual trust between the partners. If we can apply the same philosophy to our daily communication practices, we are likely to find ourselves in greater harmony and our lives will surely be enriched.

Dance lover LEE SUM-YING (Bernice Liu) is going to audition for a place in the Hong Kong Dance Company. Before the audition starts, she bumps into her brother LEE LIK-KEUNG (Wayne Lai) and his colleague CHING KA-TSUN (Steven Ma) at a supermarket, where she is accidentally run over by TSUN’s trolley and hurts herself. Due to her leg injury, YING does not perform well in the audition and fails the assessment. At the invitation of TSUN’s mother, YING goes to teach Latin dance at a local community center, in the hope that she can save up enough money for further studies abroad. YING has a very warm personality and is well-liked by many of her students. Her popularity eventually lands her a teaching job at a dance workshop, which makes another dance tutor CHING KA-MAN (Fala Chen) incredibly jealous. MAN dislikes YING so much that she means to make things difficult for her in every possible way.

YEUNG SZE-MAN (Kate Tsui), the daughter of TSUN’s boss, is appointed to take charge of the company. In order to improve staff morale, MAN has announced a series of reforms. She needs her staff to learn dancing so that they can get more physical exercise. YING is hired as the dance teacher of TSUN and his colleagues. TSUN who has some knowledge in dancing has soon resumed his interest in this expressive form of art. YING and TSUN have gradually developed a close bond with each other and even decided to take part in an international dance competition as partners. But the pair’s relationship is put to the test when TSUN and KEUNG later fall out over business matters. The discord between the two men has put YING in dilemma …

Adjustments to the synopsis given by TVB:

*Bernice teaches Latin dancing at the same place the whole time, i.e Steven’s mother’s dancing school.
Comments: I think the promotional image looks quite interesting with the characters all in nice looking costumes! I can see the three leads from The Brink of Law! I’m expecting to see some really awesome dance moves in this series =D

Currently up to Episode 16 of [Fathers and Sons] and [Episode 26 for The Drive of Life] and I’m really enjoying both series- both of different genre and style, so its a nice combination to be watching them together.

Watching both series that 10 episodes apart, I’m finding some similarities between both series happening at the same time while I’m watching it which is what this post will be about ^^ As usual *this post contains spoilers*

[Parental Secrets]

Episode 15 of FAS

The truth comes out about Bobby’s real parents. Always thinking that his father had abandoned him and his mother for another women, and having his own separate family- we learn that Bobby and his mother were the actual ‘third party’.

Episode 24-25 of TDOL

Benz and Ron’s real relationship is revealed as father and son. Ron is actually Ben’s child (from a women other than his own wife), but kept this secret from his wife, and left Ron to be adopted by a close friend of his so he could always look out for him. Ron’s adopted father suddenly planned to migrate to Australia to live with his family so Ben wanted to keep Ron close to him, to hired him to work for his car business and offered accommodation as well. It turns out that Ron already knew that Ben was his real father but didn’t want to cause any problems for him so he continued to act like he didn’t know. He wasn’t angry at Benz at all (what a filial son! he’s such a good boy..) alnd was really happy when Benz invited him to dinner and asked him to work for him because he could always see him. When Mary (playing Ben’s wife) found out about Ron, an argument broke out where Mary accidentally injures Benz and he was sent to hospital. It turns out that Benz had some serious Liver problem and needed a liver transplant! Upon hearing the news, Ron immediately offers to donate his liver to his father and Ben’s wife begins to accept him in as part of their family.

In both series, we have a man who has cheated on his wife and ended up having a son with the women. Both Ron and Bobby’s mother have passed away. Despite Ron and Bobby’s characters being the”third party” to the family, we still like them because they are innocent (we’re not supposed to hate them lol) Why are men so unfaithful?
[Secret Crush and Photo Moments]

Episode 16 of FAS

Episode 16 had more Tavia x Wong Hei moments (like episode 15). Up to this point, Tavia has secretly fallen in love with Wong Hei but he doesn’t know her feelings (until later in the episode) Tavia and Wong Hei accidentally kiss each other and a photo was taken of this. (I actually found that part very ‘forced’ The situation didn’t make sense for the two to kiss each other, unless they were planning on kissing the little girl but it didn’t look like they were planning to) Tavia kept the photo in her diary and takes it out often to look at and smile at XD

Episode 26 TDOL

In this episode, Myolie returns home to Hong Kong and her father and grandma suddenly brings up the fact she should find herself a boyfriend rather than focusing solely on her job as she claims there isn’t time for that kind of stuff. When teased by her grandmother about Raymond taking care of her, Myolie becomes shy and goes back to her room. There she smiles as she looks back at the photos she had taken with Raymond <3

[Supporting Casts]

  • Myolie’s father (TDOL) and  Bobby’s boss (FAS)
  • Joe’s mother (TDOL) and Tavia’s mother (FAS)

Both appearing in both series, with both characters not having any interactions with each other, my mind often goes blank for a second or two when I see them appear in different show right after each other. This isn’t really much of an comparison but I just like to put it here =)

[Resemblences..?]

As I watch more of Fathers and Sons (and little Jacky-boy there) the more I feel Jacky has a lot of resemblances to Sammul Chan! I’m not sure if I’m the only one who thinks so, but I decided to share it with you all anyways ^^; Oddly, both Sammul and Jacky have been in “When rules turn loose” but I didn’t really notice…maybe I was really annoyed with Jacky there I could hardly bare to watch his scenes there.. I think its also because Sammul has a baby face and there are times they give off similar expressions. I tried taking screencaptures of the two to compare but that didn’t turn out quite successful XD Can’t capture those moments, you’ll just have to see for yourself I guess. Lemme know if you’re seeing the resemblances too!

Starting from October 1 Every Monday to Friday 9:45pm on Australia TVBJ Satelite (replacing Welcome to the House)

Cast: Esther Kwan Wing Ho, Elaine Jin, Alvina Kong Yan Yin, Shek Sau, Au Kam Tong, Stephen, Vin Choi, Angela Tong , Geoff Wong…
Episodes: 120 episodes
Release Date: April 2007
Genre: Modern Sitcom

Synopsis

Wong Ka-Lam (Esther Kwan), who returns from overseas, comes to know Tai Chi master, Ng Hang (Elaine Jin) and her grandson Luk Chit (Vin Choi) by chance. LAM has trouble getting along with HANG, but she is on very good terms with CHIT, who is eighteen years younger than her. She even joins the advertising firm where he works and becomes his colleague.

LAM’s talent is recognised by the firm’s vice president, YIN WAI-SHUN (Geoff Wong), and is promoted within a very short time. This arouses jealousy and hostility from her colleague, the wicked TAI ON NA (Kong Yan Yin). The firm then becomes a battlefield for LAM and NA, who fight and compete incessantly.

Meanwhile, HANG is uncomfortable with LAM becoming CHIT’s colleague. She seems to be hiding something from CHIT…

The theme video reminds me of the one used for The Green Grass of Home. It gives me a similar feeling: both sung by actual singers and they both used borders. At the beginning,of FAS we have a bunch of people running forward and waving, while in TGGOH we have the group shot at the end, both with the green grass background. i wonder if they really got the idea off each other or put together by the same person.

Hi Everyone! Hope you’re all well and happy =)

I feel bad for not updating as frequent/daily as I used to! I’m quite happy to see the tagboard still so active though^^ Even I feel guilty with the lack of updates; or coming back and seeing the same ‘Phoenix Rising” Final episode post. Something just feels a little strange these days- I don’t have much to say about the TVB series I’m watching. I feel I need some new ideas to keep K for TVB nice and refreshing! I know I can always make series screen-captures to share for Fathers and Sons and The Drive of Life which I’m currently watching but somehow I don’t feel like it. strange. I also get the feeling that even if I did, it wouldn’t make much of a difference. What’s everyone reading about on my blog nowadays? What are you all anticipating?

KTVB feels a bit..empty.

A short update. Current Up to…:
Fathers and Sons – Episode 5

I’m finding the series ok, but not as funny as I’ve anticipated or heard from others. I hope it gets better now that Jacky came into the series and it doesn’t get annoying (I tend to find his roles annoying XD)

After seeing Yoyo in Heart of Greed, I keep thinking Yoyo here is Sui Mak Mak. Not good.

Wong Hei’s character acts like a women at times its freaky, like those “Gong Gong”. His behavior reminds me a bit like his character in Tough side of a lady too. I do like the way he loves this daughter though, unlike Halina who seems to care about herself over anyone else.

The Drive of Life – Episode 15

A nice serious series that gets me into the serious mood! So far I’m quite enjoying Drive. Raymond is so hot here (esp when his hair is straightened) XD I like the bond Raymond, Myolie and the other guy (who works with them) have and their interactions are quite cute. I really like watching for Raymond’s character. After the company declared insolvency and de-registration I really hope that Raymond ends up changing for real (so far I’m convinced) and I hope he will succeed in the car manufacturing company. I want him to prove to everyone that he’s got what it takes! ^^ Hope nothing bad happens again =( Raymond and Feng’s relationship started off nicely, but now they have turned into rivals and we can see that Feng gets jealous when Raymond is with Chiu Ngor(Seen Sin).

On the other note, I don’t really like Joe Ma’s character. Maybe its because I know he’s going to turn bad later on, but it looks like Jessica’s boyfriend genuinely loves her and they seem so happy together I don’t want him coming into this relationship. In an earlier episode, I felt he was selfish after seeing Jessica’s boyfriend go all the way to Beijing to give her a surprise but he didn’t tell her and deliberately took Jessica away to spend the day with him instead.

The three brothers’ relationship appears to be getting better =) Liu Ging Sang(2nd brother) really cares about Damien upon hearing news about the collapse of the economy and company and even offered him to help him out at Beijing. He openly accepts Raymond (his nephew) to come help him at the car Manufacturing business in Beijing and looks after them there. In a way, it seems like the 2nd brother is using Raymond to deal with structural changes for their business to become more competitive since his father-in-law objects against this idea. Nevertheless, Damien appreciates it.

A turning point for Damien and Michael Miu (3rd brother) would be the scene where the two fight each other; or more like Michael blaming and bashing him for “causing” him and Sheren to divorce. The two eventually make up ^^ and Michael and Toby go back to Hong Kong with them.
