Hey everyone!

Sorry for the slow updates these days, realised I haven’t blogged for a whole week now! But yes, my exams are finally over so I’m back to do more updating and blogging! It’s been a year since this blog has launched so I’ve been looking for a new layout change to keep things refreshing. Unfortunately I haven’t found one suitable yet ^^; so I guess I’ll just have to stick to this one for a while longer. I’ve also been wanting to make a new banner, since the Steps one has been used for a month already! I’m still wondering who should be featured hehe..

Brief thoughts on the current series I’m watching..
The Ultimate Crime Fighter

I’m currently up to episode 26 of The Ultimate Crime Fighter and I’m really finding Kevin’s storyline very exciting XD I can’t wait to see more of it ^^ I find it quite convincing lol (esp Kevin’s ‘partner’) I also really like Natalie and Yuen Biao’s father/daughter relationship and everything Yuen Biao did for his daughter, but it was also really sad watching it as well because we know the truth before he does. It’s like we’re taking part in lying to him yet we see how much he puts his life at risk for her…awww…such a good father..

Moses and Gigi’s relationship seems so mucked up. They’re arguing so much these days it just doesn’t seem like their relationship will work out. They still love and care about one another, getting jealous when the other is with Kevin/ Yoyo. Still, I felt this type of problem existed from the start of their relationship because it was in their different personalities. Gigi can become really annoying a lot of the time (and not giving him some personal space) and I can see why Moses can get frustrated with her. Similarly, I just don’t feel Moses loves Gigi enough. He doesn’t seem very sensitive to her feelings. The two don’t seem to understand each other..or maybe its the difference between men and women.
Word Twister’s Adventures

Up to episode 11 for Word Twisters Adventures and I’m enjoying the series at the moment. Its enjoyable to watch though I’m not really hooked onto it. I like the cast and characters and the elements of romance so far. At first, I quite liked Charmaine and Michael together because how they fell in love was quite romantic lol But then later, I’m really disliking Michael’s character and growing more fond of Jordan Chan’s character. He’s quite funny and silly..very childish and spoilt but I don’t see evilness in him. Even though he can be quite immature at times, pulling pranks and the alike, he just acts like a kid that needs to grow up. At the same, I feel he’s more innocent and is actually a ‘nice’ person, unlike Michael who is always scheming and selfish. I also like it how he loves his mother so much, listens to her and pretty much does anything for his mother (other than give up on being a lawyer)~ he is always getting punished lol Hence, I look forward to Jordan and Charmaine’s characters getting together <3 They're pretty cute, always arguing with each other, yet at times can get along really well. I also liked how Jordan pretty much lets Charmaine do anything she wants after they got married. He lets her sleep in a separate room. Charmaine doesn't fulfilled her duty as a wife or daughter in law, doesn't do any house chores or anything at all...but Jordan's mother still treats her like a daughter-in-law (the part where Jordan's mother prays, pleading the she would be cursed instead of Charmaine if the curse was to come..). What more can Charmaine ask for..? Even though they 'faked' the wedding Jordan still claims Charmaine as his wife and gets pretty jealous when he sees her with Michael^^ He knew Charmaine and Michael were lovers and let them be, but when other people started saying things about it, he actually takes action ehhee.. Suki just appeared in the series. I'm not too fond of her character, but if she keeps Michael away from Charmaine then I'm happy lol

TVB’s 40th Anniversary Awards 2007

Last night I stayed up to watch the TV Awards Presentation 2007 live, which was showing on TVBJ Australia from 11:30pm-1:30am which left me quite tired this morning XD I was a bit disappointed with some of the results because some of the ones I had hoped to win, didn’t win, but most were nominated at top 5 which leaves me quite happy as I cheered for them when I heard their names being announced XD (e.g Dayo Wong being nominated in Men Don’t Cry!!)

The presentation this year didn’t have any performances (other than Eason singing at the start) but that’s ok I guess, considering I just wanted to wait for the announcement of results! i liked the first part of the show where the artists were all arriving and each were introduced~ it as cool. okies..onto the results!

Best Actor

Top 5: Bobby AuYeung, Raymond Lam, Ha Yu, Moses Chan, Damien Lau
Winner: Moses Chan (Heart of Greed)

Yup, Moses won two awards, just like Charmaine did last year. Congratulations to him! He was pretty much expecting the award ^^; (as he said in his speech) I still think that its already heaps awesome if they one won award, would have been nice to give the second award to someone else. I would have liked Bobby to have won some kind of award this year though, but it was funny he kept getting mentioned throughout the show XD I’m really starting to like seeing Moses around and he really stood out in Heart of Greed.
Best Actress

Top 5: Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Hsuan, Susanna Kwan, Louise Lee, Sheren Tang
Winner: Louise Lee/ Lee Sei Kei (Heart of Greed)
A well-expected deserving award though I would have thought “My Favourite Female Character” suited her more. Congratulations Sei Kei-jie! I think her speech was a bit extreme though, saying it would be her biggest sadness/regret if she didn’t win the award..

My Most Favourite Male Character

Top 5: Moses Chan, Ha Yu, Raymond Lam, Bobby Au Yeung, Dayo Wong
Winner: Moses Chan (Heart of Greed)
Really hoped Dayo would win this award, but I knew he wasn’t going to get it because of the HK audience, but I was really really happy he got in Top 5! ^^ Bobby was nominated for his role in Fathers and Sons, but i preferred his role in Dicey Business. Raymond’s Alfred character was so loved by the audience and I thought he would get a high chance of winning it..but I guess Moses’ Dak Dak Dei is still the one that wins them all..
My Most Favourite Female Character

Top 5: Charmaine Sheh, Susanna Kwan, Louise Lee, Linda Chung, Gigi Lai
Winner: Susanna Kwan (Heart of Greed)

Congratulations to Susanna! I think she deserves an award though again the category sounds a bit mixed up to me. How can her ‘Sai Kai’ character be the most favourite female character ?? XD How can her character be likable? ^^;

Best Supporting Actor

Top 5: Paul Chun, Benz Hui, Wong Cho Lam, Louis Yuen, Ng Wai Kwok
Winner: Louis Yuen (Heart of Greed)
Another Heart of Greed winner..out of the top 5, I wanted either Benz Hui or Ng Wai Kwok to win this award. I believe they were better supporting actors and didn’t find Louis that outstanding.
Best Supporting Actress

Top 5: Leila Tong, Florence Kwok, Gigi Wong, Mary Hon, Fala Chen
Winner: Fala Chen (Steps)
Yay for Fala! I’m quite happy that she won an award! (and that was Gigi Wong didn’t win it….XD) Still, i would think Florence or Mary deserved the award instead since Fala is still..improving.
Most Improved Actor

Top 5: Amigo Chui, Wong Yi Hing, Wong Cho Lam, Stephen Huynh, Chris Lai,
Winner: Amigo ChuiVery strange and unexpecting. I don’t think Amigo’s an actor (haven’t seen him in any series, but he has hosted some shows) so I was scratching my head when I saw him on the nominees thinking ‘Is this really the Most Improved Actor Award?’ Then I saw all the variety shows he’s been in~ I still think its very odd, like they put him in the wrong category. Oh wells, congratulations to him! XD I was expecting and hoping that Chris Lok Yi would win the award though, so I was a bit disappointed with the results.
Most Improved Actress

Top 5: Natalie Tong, Kate Tsui, Bernice Liu, Fala Chen, Toby Leung
Winner: Kate Tsui (On the First Beat, Steps)
I was disappointed with Kate winning the award. I was really hoping Bernice or Fala to take the award. I guess I just haven’t come around to accepting Kate’s acting yet, though Kate is definitely improved more than Toby. Actually, I prefer Sharon being nominated instead of Toby.
The following 2 are special awards that haven’t been presented in previous years.

Mainland Viewer’s favourite TVB Actor
Top 5: Bosco Wong, Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Bobby AuYeung
Winner: Raymond LamYay for Raymond! Seems a lot like a popularity contest though ^^; I’m glad Raymond did end up win an award this year!

Mainland Viewer’s favourite TVB Actress
Top 5: Gigi Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Shirley Yeung, Liza Wang, Jessica Hsuan
Winner: Gigi Lai

Gigi looks so sleepy and tired when she was up there making a speech. It was either that or she didn’t sound all that enthusiastic about the award ^^;

Best Series Award

Top 3: Heart of Greed, Dicey Business, The Family Link
Winner: Heart of GreedCongratulations to the Heart of Greed Cast! Everyone pretty much knew Heart of Greed was going to win this award so it wasn’t unexpecting. I was really happy that Dicey Business got in top 3. I think deep down,I wanted Dicey Business to this award though..

Best Host

Top 5: Lydia Shum, Sammy Leung+Miriam Yeung, Gigi Wong, Di Na, Harlem Yu+Patrick Tang
Winner: Harlem Yu + Patrick Tang (Foodie 2 Shoes)
I liked these two hosts as well ^^ They’re great hosts for Foodie 2 Shoes!
Most Creative program
Top 3: Foodie 2 Shoes, More than Words, I Love U Summer
Winner: Foodie 2 Shoes

Yay for them again! I don’t watch the other two shows so that’s all I can say.
Most Appreciated Value Program
Winner: Ten Years After

Best Variety Show
Top 3: Foodie 2 Shoes, Secrets Of Soup, On the Road
Winner: On the Road (Sr.2)

How come Sammul Chan didn’t get a turn to do a speech?

Best promotional Clip
Winner: The Drive of Life – Intro Chapter

A nice clip though I thought they were going to show the top 3 nominations =( I wanted to see the other clips they were competing against .I wonder if it was a mistake?

Overall Comments?

Most of the awards went to the Heart of Greed Cast..I’m actually quite disappointed that Dicey Business cast or series didn’t win any awards =( Every time Bobby and Jessica appeared I’d be rooting for them! looks like The Drive of Life didn’t do so well either..considering they were not nominated for Best Series or many with nominations with awards.
I’m surprised that Michael Miu , Michelle Yim, Steven Ma didn’t get nominated for anything. Maybe the competition this year was just really high..Speaking of Michael Miu, he didn’t even turn up to the ceremony i wonder why..along with Jessica Hsuan, Gigi Wong, Daimin Lau, Leila Tong, Dayo Wong (they just had a picture of them when the showed the top 5 nominees). It doesn’t seem like Bosco, Ron or Kevin had much luck this year. I’m glad Raymond still got nominations and even won an award ^^ It’s nice this year Dodo didn’t make any rude remarks about Raymond getting nominated in top 5 =)

Screencaptures will be coming another time! Will have to get back to studying for my exams!

Screencaptures I’ve taken from the performance from the [Men Don’t Cry] Crew in TVB 40th Anniversary Lighting Ceremony ^^ I left this part and only started watching this after completing the series because I think it would make more sense and decrease the number of spoilers XD Like Benz calling Dayo as his son.

It would have been nice if the female casts were in-character as well ^^  I quite enjoyed the clip, quite funny seeing them in character  😀

[Men Don’t Cry] Themesong Lyrics

Lyrics written and sung by Dayo Wong

Download this Song: Full Version

Here is my attempt to translate this song (I put a lot of effort into it XD ) but its a bit hard because of how colloquial/slang the language is, so let me know if I’ve got anything wrong~ Its the literal translation of the song written up with help from a few friends, which takes on the persona of Gan Yan Geen (Evil Kin). Please give credit back if reposting translations =)

So cheap/low life that new ideas/meaning are born
Pretends to laugh, pretends to cry, pretends to be crazy
So deceitful that juice comes out
So deceitful that horns come up (as a devil)
This “deceitful” word
The stinking injustice is like a manure pit
Because of one problem
have the guts to try

Is there true love?
If there are emotions in this world
When the rainstorm hits your head
Just pretend its watering the flowers

For my friends, I’ll be deceitful/evil boy Ah Geen
I’ll have a deceitful heart, deceitful face (surface/appearance)
Use my dodegy/sneaky moves to defeat evil ghost/spirits/monsters

Break my arms, legs, feet, and lose everything, but I’ll still be eating
Fame is just dirt under our feet

Long empty nights, having an intimate friend
is it wrong?
Lonely world
Try to release your worries
Is there true love?
Let me feel the love
Be a silly person.

—-

I quite like the themesong and lyrics because it reminds me of the series ^^ It’s even better that its sung by Dayo Wong himself who actually plays Gan Yan Geen. It just gives the series the extra touch =) I think it describes his character quite well and the way he sees things.
He doesn’t care about recognition, fame or getting any credit for the good things he does because he doesn’t it do it just to show other people. (Revealed later in the series when he turns good) ” Fame is just dirt under our feet”

Warning: Ending Spoiler!! [All my posts contain spoilers, but this is the ending, so an extra warning message ^__^]

// I’ve just finished watching the last episode and can’t help but to jot down my thoughts of the ending. I’ll be posting up more episode summaries of Men Don’t Cry after my exams! So stay tuned~//

==Contains Spoilers==

Aww..I’m so sad that it’s finished T_T And I’m so disappointed with the ending because Dayo and Cecilia don’t end up together! The fortune-telling guy lied… the two didn’t even get to have a good talk with one another..After doing so much, Dayo just leaves…Cecilia never got the chance to tell him her true feelings. Cecilia never found out all the things Dayo did for her (like blackmailing the dentist to fix her teeth)
On the other hand, I’m happy that Cecilia chose not to be with Wong Fei Hong ^^; I never liked this couple or Wong Fei Hong at all. Its obvious Cecilia has never loved Wong Fei Hong so I’m glad that she wasn’t persuaded by Charmaine Li (who plays Jenny). I don’t think anyone can replace Dayo in Cecilia’s heart..
I also hate the fact that at the end, the truth doesn’t come out and everyone still thinks Dayo is a bad person. No one finds out what a heroic, courageous person Dayo is, except Wong Fei Hong. It’s so unfair!!! Wong Fei Hong takes all the credit . I know it was Dayo’s choice but I feel unsatisfied with the whole thing =( Dayo deserves so much better..and he definitely doesn’t deserve to be lonely for the rest of his life.. Why can’t they just make everyone know the truth and he returns to the city to protect it together?

The ending I wanted was for Cecilia and Dayo to end up together, Vivien accepts them because she knows how much they love each other and how willing Cecilia was to sacrifice herself for him. It would have been nice if they showed Ah Pao come back and have a scene with him and Dayo talk. I wouldn’t mind any other funny comedy at the end..it would have been nice..

The real ending of the series was quite funny ^^ Will talk more about this in a later post ^^

==End of Spoiler Posts==

I want Dayo to win Favourite Male Character Award! I just love his Garn Yan Geen character!! His character has changed so much through the series and he becomes SO LIKABLE! We see the smooth transition, and he redeems himself towards the end and becomes a truly selfless person..I grew so much pity for his character.. Dayo portrayed his character so well… his character had so much personally and was enjoyable to watch. I loved watching Garn Yan Geen‘s softy-side, the way he says one thing, but actually means another ^^; He has very good chemistry with the other casts (Cecilia, Benz, Dominic (Wong Fei Hong), Vivien)

This series deserves a much higher rating than it has been received. Men Don’t Cry is one of my favorite comedy TVB series! (I can’t think of other comedies as enjoyable as this one). It exceeded my expectations..It has a lot of funny stuff, a great story line, a great romantic plot which keeps me engaged to the screen and I just wanted to watch more and more. A TVB series I love is one which keeps me wanting to watch the next episode, I just couldn’t enough of it.

There’s not many TVB series that could do this to me lol so its a truely *thumbs up* for TVB. I truly enjoyed watching this series and I hope they’ll make more productions like this one!
Unfortunately this series was not well received in Hong Kong..so..I’m not sure of the likely chances of him getting the award *sigh* Hope he gets top 5 at least.

Recommend? If you like Romance Comedy, this series is a much watch! The cast doesn’t appear that strong, but Dayo’s chemistry with them all makes it all the better. As previously mentioned, I did not like the first few episodes, but the story picks up quickly so don’t give up on the series! It becomes so much better all the way until the end ^^ It’s so funny, romantic, and enjoyable to watch !!! It beats so many TVB series released this year, one that should DEFINITELY not be missed!

Episode 6

And Dayo’s plot continues..Going on a date? He takes Cecilia to come rock and starts writing their names on it~

Dayo starts thinking he wants to vomit just by looking at those words XD

Cecila is really touched and Dayo faces the ocean, screaming out that he loves her. Cecilia turns and does the same.

– —

Dayo made another surprise for her which truly moves her. She feels happiness ^^; There Dayo starts telling her about ‘their future’ together because he is serious about their relationship. She tells him that she feels the same. To celebrate their ‘happiness’, the two drink wine, where Dayo purposely makes her drunk.

The next morning, Dayo makes Cecilia think they slept with each other after being drunk the night before, telling her that he’ll take responsibility for his actions. Cecilia doesn’t believe that he loves her because no one has ever been so nice to her. It was too good to be true. Dayo ends up convincing her and she embraces him with her dodgey english of “I love you” XD

There Dayo continues on with his plans, saying they should go and find her parents right away so that he can propose and arrange their wedding. All going as planned, Ah Pao pretends to captures him (while Dayo tried to ‘protect her’), holding him as hostage. The only way he would let him go was for exchange of Cecilia’s god-mother’s land right (after all, that was the aim from all Dayo’s acting). The poor Cecila falls for the love trap ends up taking it to exchange for him…as soon as she does, Dayo reveals is true face and humiliates her in front of everyone, telling them all about how she fells for him and even slept with him. Making matters worse, he tells another lie, saying that the one she actually sent the night with was Ah Pao (his follower), taking out a piece of her clothing as ‘evidence’…

Side note: I wasn’t too sure about including the above scene as a part of this post..since i wanted to share those funny ‘romantic’ attempt scenes from Dayo and Cecilia rather than a more serious scene, but decided to include it anyways for completion purposes for those interested. It shows the true evil nature of Dayo (Garn Yan Geen) and it seems impossible for the two to fall in love (or for Cecilia to ever trust him again) but the story just gets better..

These are all a part of Dayo’s scheme in making Cecilia believe he has changed into a good person and trying to make her fall in love with him.

From Episode 5

The Dinner

Here, Cecilla has truly believed Dayo has changed and the two have dinner together. There’s a part where Dayo holds up the cup and looks at Cecilia, using the cup to cover up from seeing Cecilia’s buck teeth, thinking she looks better without them. Cecila thinks that Dayo is peeking at her lol

The Cave

The next day, Dayo takes Cecilla to a cave which were filled with lots of shining crystals and Cecilia is truly amazed. He tells her than he remembers she likes looking at stars so he took her here to watch the ‘stars’ with her. Dayo even offers to pick one for her and she points to a very large one.

As Dayo climbs to get it, he accidentally slips and falls and Cecilia catches him. ..ehehe..the catch was quite funny and as you can see in the screen caps, Cecilia asks ‘Are you ok?’ and Dayo immediately looks away to avoid her ugly face. Facing the other way, he holds up the crystal to her “this is for you” XD

Dayo pretends to confess his ‘true feelings’

Inner insecurties and Secrets Revealed!

As soon as he said those words, a lightning struck the opening of the cave, and the rocks crumbles, blocking out the exit. The cave becomes pitch black where we see Dayo’s true inner feelings and insecurities, revealing his secret (i.e his past)

Later, Dayo starts wakes up thinking ‘ah..so comfortable’ ..to shockingly realise he was sleeping on Cecilia’s lap XD He realises that he must of been crying because of his eyes, but has completely forgotten everything that had happened XD

When Cecilia wakes up, she reminds him of the things he has told her, and promises to keep it a secret and that she would help him. Dayo didn’t trust her and attempted to kill her off but then Cecilia’s family found them and rescued them.

Having a Picnic?

Dayo starts having self-pity on himself, saying because one of his leg is ‘disabled’, he cannot compare to Wong Fei Hong. He tells her that he doesn’t blame her if he doesn’t believe he has turned good because of all the bad things he did before, but then comes about saying ‘It doesn’t matter if no one believes me, as long as you do.’

Cecilia moves closer to him: “I’ll always believe in you!”

Dayo ends up looking the other away again because he can’t stand her XD

The turns back around and faces her, trying hard to stare her into her eyes and Cecilia smiles sweetly back at him. Dayo thinking to himself: Don’t turn your face around~ Don’t close your eyes. Hold from vomiting, don’t vomit. I really can’t stand it, look lower a bit..lower a bit, no! The teeth..look up a bit more, go back up. Hold on ‘Evil Kin’, this part is very crucial, once you past this stage, she would believe that you love her! Girls really believe the eyes, hang in there! Oh no, here comes her teeth again..

It’s so silly that she can’t tell from his face expression what he really is thinking~
