Synopsis

Magazine editor-in-chief KWO PIK (Liza Wang Ming Chun) will never save face for her superiors, nor will she come to the defense of her subordinates. She shows no mercy to her enemies and does everything she can to keep her son KWO TAK (Bosco Wong Chung Chak) under her thumb. She is an iron lady who can’t afford to lose anything. As she is still full of confidence that she can determine her son’s future life, a plain, geeky-looking girl named CHOW LAI-MAN (Myolie Wu Hang Yee) has already managed to become the wife of TAK. Later MAN resigns from the police force and chooses to work as a magazine journalist, thus leading to even more conflicts between her and PIK.

Not long after, PIK is dragged into a scandal and gets framed by her assistant KO PO-PO (Joyce Tang Lai Ming), which causes her to lose her place all of a sudden. Facing a dramatic career slump and her deteriorating relationship with her son and daughter-in-law, PIK moves to the outlying islands on her own. There she meets a new man in her life, the knowledgeable and talented BUT PING-FAN (Benz Hui Shiu Hung) who was once a convict. From FAN, PIK has learnt how to reflect on herself and let go of the past. As everything seems to be going fine, MAN discovers that there is a conspiracy going on and that the magazine she is working for is in danger of falling apart.

Comments: Another Sequel to series I really enjoyed watching – Wars of In-laws modern version will be out soon =) I remember the highlight to the prequel Wars of In-laws was the very cute chemistry shared between Bosco and Myolie and the whole Bosco’s secret identity thing. It was also the series I started liking Bosco a lot in. The other part of the series would have been seeing how Myolie and Liza would eventually get along. Funny moments. I’m really looking forward to it!

This episode has more on Dayo and Benz where Dayo slowly starts to accept Benz and were see a lot of chemistry between them. Dayo’s good side is showing more and he has become a happier person knowing he has a father’s love =)

At first, Dayo refused to accept Benz after Benz “attempted” to kill himself and took back all the emotional things Dayo had said to him. Dayo acts like he doesn’t care much for Benz, and decided that he’ll recognise him as his father if he’s happy with his “father trial period”, i.e Benz will do whatever Dayo tells him to~ but as Dayo walks away, a genuine smile of happiness is revealed =) Benz uses Vivien’s sympathy, and often puts an act in front of her so that she’ll help him convince Dayo to accept him.

One scene Benz was like the horse on a bike, riding Dayo and Vivien on the back seat. Next, Dayo decided to play Soccer and got Benz to be the goal keeper and Dayo kept kicking the ball at him XD Then the two switched position and Benz had hoped to take his revenge. However, Benz accidentally kicked the ball at the Mayor’s son ( I don’t know the exact title name, but person in charge of that town)~ and they end up being challenged for a 2 vs. 2 soccer match XD The soccer match was entertaining to watch ..of course not all the rules were followed as the other team tried to cheat but moving the goal forward and backwards.=) Of course, Dayo and Benz’s team won from great teamwork and the two go off to celebrate.

At the public bath, Benz is helping Dayo massage but then later Benz hurts his back so Dayo offered to massage for him for a bit. Benz lifts up his shirt and Dayo sees a tattoo of a Bird on Benz’ waist, making a comment on it. It was actually a symbol that was left on Benz in the past when he used to be part of this bad group of thieves, whom are hunting for him at the moment (They are after him for a piece of a puzzle to treasure, but because Dayo took the piece off him, Benz attempts to trick Dayo into thinking he is his

father in order to get it back from him). Benz told him he was a chicken from the zodiac so that’s why he has a chicken. Dayo comments that the chicken zodiac will face bad luck this year and would need something to protect him. One of the villagers see Dayo massaging Benz and starts teasing Dayo, and that they might as well become god-fathers/sons. Upon hearing this, Dayo starts stops massaging Benz, fulls his head back and they switch back places.

On the other hand, Cecilia seems to always be going to Wong Fei Hong’s place and cooking him a lot of food.. I don’t know what she’s attempting…is she trying to give Wong Fei Hong a chance? Is she wanting him to make a move on her? Ether way, Wong Fei Hong is really embarrassing!! XD He’s not good with things when it comes to love and relationships and becomes totally mucked up when trying to ask her out (while his followers and Suk-Gong keep pushing and persuading him, and trying to ‘help’ him, even by speaking for him at time XD). Wong Fei Hong stumbles a lot and become lost in words, often too shy to get to the actual topic. I thought it was really silly how he asked her out, but didn’t actually even thinking of a place to go….I’m really glad Cecilia doesn’t like him.

Once again, Wong Fei Hong fails on his date with her XD The two end up going to the mountains together and Cecilia tells him that she has made some food so they could eat together, and he tells her they’ll eat after he goes and collects herbs/medicine.. XD He stupidly turned his date into a day where he was collecting herbs..and he doesn’t even seem to notice what he is doing wrong. Its quite windy at the mountains so Wong Fei Hong gives her his jacket. He asks her to give him her hand and Cecilia thought this was going to be a “romantic” moment but instead, he was only checking her pulse..lol

In contrast to the boring date Cecilia had, we see Dayo and Vivien together having lunch and laughter together. Vivien comments that Dayo is turning into a person with a loving heart and wonders when he’ll publicly recognise Benz as his father. He said not to anyone, especially Cecilia (the excuse being that she has fake teeth, she’ll easily slip the news to everyone). Dayo brings Cecilia up and I just think that its because she is aways on his mind..perhaps he wanted Cecilia to know indirectly, or he wanted to know how she was now. Vivian jokes that she Cecilia wouldn’t have the time to care about him anymore because she is too busy dating Wong Fei Hong. You can see Dayo’s face expression change instantly and he becomes upset upon hearing the news as Vivien continues on that their whole family think they are a perfect match. Of course, dayo tries to pretend that he doesn’t care..but its obvious he does. Viviven doesn’t seem to notice though as she was happily hinting that if Cecilia and Wong Fei Hong get married, she’ll be next in the family and her mother even asked her if she had someone in mind.

Dayo seems to have gone into his own thoughts about Cecilia being with Wong Fei Hong that he doesn’t seem to notice what Vivien was implying.

Vivien gives Dayo a scarf she had knitted which cheers him up ^_^ In return, he buys her a basket of flowers to thank her for the gift. At this time, Cecilia returns from her date and sees the two having a good together.

When Cecilia comes, she gets Vivien to help her order a bowl noodles to get her away so she could talk to Dayo. Seeing Cecilia, Dayo’s mood changes again and Cecilia warns Dayo that her sister is very important to her and starts questioning his intentions, thinking Dayo is playing with her feelings.

When Vivien returns, Cecilia gets Vivien to leave with her. She tells her sister not to see Dayo anymore but Vivien continuously tells Cecilia that Dayo is a good person- that he has really changed. Cecilis slips out that she had once believed he had changed too.(seems to be referring that she once fell for him). I thought this was a bit odd that Vivien’s response was like she was unaware Cecilia had fell in love with him before…

I quite liked the next scene too. Dayo and his follower were sitting near the seaside and Dayo was continuously saying bad things about Wong Fei Hong, about how he started pursuing Cecilia once she looked pretty, and since Cecilia never dated, she’ll easily fall for it. It showed that Cecilia being with Wong Fei Hong really bothered him.

His follower started commenting that he shouldn’t be too angry about it since he has Vivien .

Synopsis

“Equal Justice Under Law”
It isn’t Slanted by Prejudice or Bias of Any Kind.

Righteous young man SUN MAN KWAN (Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming) comes from the grassroots. To put the doctrine “All men are equal before the law” to the test, he study law at university. After a few years of hard work he has finally become a lawyer. Although his boss appreciates his unconventional way of doing things, his colleagues always try hard to avoid him. His personal assistant, CHEUK WAI MING (Sammul Chan Kin Fung), is an exception. MING admires KWAN’s out-of-the-box style and always lends him a hand on the quiet. As time goes by, two men become good friends.

KWAN defies the rich and the influential. In light of this, he looks down upon SUEN LEI LEI (Ella Koon), who is also a lawyer, for what she does and how she behaves. Their frequent co-operations very often are full of hilarious episodes. In LEI’s eyes, KWAN is no different than a rascal who leads a lousy life and who always dallies with women. Later on, LEI is attacked and almost gets killed because of a lawsuit. Fortunately, KWAN comes to her rescue. Not until then does she realize she loves him indeed. But fate has it that she and MING have become lovers for the sake of her father’s business. Meanwhile, just when their relationship is at a standstill, MING learns that his ex-girlfriend, CHENG CHOI YUK (Selena Li Sze Wan), is pregnant with his child.

Comment: Awhile back when I first heard that three of the main casts from the original Survivor’s Law (Raymond Lam, Myolie Wu, Bernice Liu) weren’t going to be in the sequel, I was quite disappointed as Sammul was my least favourite among the four characters and still prefer them over the current casts. However, I really enjoyed Survivor’s Law so I’m really looking forward to its sequel! I enjoy watching Lawyer series (an exception being When Rules Turn Loose) and the cast here does look a bit refreshing. Hope the series won’t be a disappointment =)

(Around episode 32-33 ish)

Later, Moses steals a copy of the video-recording of Gigi’s death from Yoyo and gives a copy to Kevin’s father. The confrontations between Kevin and his father causes Kevin’s father to be hospitalised after hearing the truth coming from Kevin and as Kevin blames his father for all the deaths. He blames his father for being conservative. He did everything to save his father’s ‘face’ so his relationship with another man had to be ‘underground’. When Kevin wanted to break up with his male partner, his partner threatened to reveal their relationship to his parents so Kevin was ‘forced’ to kill him. Next, Kevin murdered ‘Derek’ who blackmailed him after finding out about his past relationship, and accessing the intimate photos. Finally, Kevin believed Gigi had betrayed him by telling Moses that she found Derek’s pen at his place and that Kevin was previously blackmailed by Derek. Gigi also knew Kevin was gay so he got rid of her too…

Moses turned into another Kevin as he was blinded by his hatred and desire to live for revenge.

(In the car talking, after Kevin confronts Moses for showing the video recording to his father)

Fire: How can you do that? The one who has done wrong is Kevin, its got nothing to do with his family. You’re too slack.

Moses: I just want Kevin’s father to know what kind of person Kevin is.

Fire: Because of revenge, you’ve overdone it. You’ve already made the first wrong step, you can’t continue on.

Moses: Why do you have to keep challenging me? The one who is wrong is Kevin.

Fire: Kevin is wrong. Even though the legal system hasn’t punished him yet, he would sooner or later get what he deserves. If you’re doing the wrong thing, you will just continue going down the wrong path. Listen to me, let go, and then you’ll receive freedom.

Moses: If you’ve got so much morals, why don’t you say them to Kevin? He’s the one who killed Gigi, that’s why I turned into the way I am. It’s he who turned me into this. Kevin’s father has the right to know what kind of person his son is. His heart attack is all because of Kevin’s wrong doing.

Fire: You’re so stubborn, just because you want revenge. And you’re also doing whatever is takes..then how are you different to Kevin? You are both walking on the same path. If you continue on like this, I won’t be able to help you!

Moses: Then don’t help then!

After this, Kevin starts threatening Moses’ family. On Moses’ sister’s birthday, Kevin sent her a cake on behalf of Moses and when she opened up the box, a toy clown popped/exploded out of it with confetti, scaring them all. Moses’ brother-in-law thought it was a bomb…

Kevin: How was it? Did you like the cake?

*Moses sees Kevin playing with a toy-clown*

Moses: What is it that you want?

Kevin: What do you think? We gotta be fair when we’re playing games. You played with my family, of course I’ll have to get your family involved too. It’s more funner that way. To see if they are playable, we’ll only know when we play further.

Next, Kevin gets some marketing person to lead Moses’ nephew away after school to ‘test’ a game for them. Later, they found his school bag tossed nearby with another toy-clown inside. This was to mislead Moses into thinking that Kevin had kidnapped him. After taking Kevin back to the police station, Moses keeps demanding him to tell him where his nephew is. To have their talk, Moses even switches off the video-camera in that room, where Kevin gets Moses into more trouble by knocking his own head onto the table, saying that Moses has attacked him.

Later, the angry Moses takes the disk with Gigi’s death recording and attempts to submit it to the press, but luckily Fire followed him.

Fire: Moses!

Moses: Don’t get in my way!

Fire: I know, you want to give the disk to the press. You want the case of Kevin killing Gigi to be released all over the world.

Moses: You don’t need to worry about much. Just don’t try to stop me.

Fire: No, if people find out the source of the disk, you’ll be in big trouble! I won’t let you do it.

Moses: Mind your own business !!

*Fire snatches the disk off Moses and breaking it, then tossing it onto the floor*

Moses becomes so angry that he punches Fire across his face and grabs onto his shirt.

Moses: Why are you stuffing me up!??

Fire crunches his fist. At that moment, Yoyo appears and splashes a bucket of water over Moses.

Yoyo: Are you done with being crazy!? Just because you want Kevin dead, you stole a copy of my file. Do you want to stuff up everyone so we all lose our jobs? Why won’t you listen to us!? You just keep doing wrongs. Can you not be so persistent? Just let go.

Moses: You just keep telling me to let go, but I’m telling you both, if Kevin isn’t arrested I won’t let go!

Fire: You’re only torturing yourself by doing this! You’re not dealing with Kevin!

Moses: Gigi is dead…do you understand how I feel? If you two were me, would you be able to let go? Can you really just watch Kevin being released out there?

Fire: The pain you’re suffering now isn’t because of Gigi’s death, its for your own revenge and hatred.

Moses: I don’t care, all the pain I’ve suffered, Kevin will have to suffer ten times the amount.

Hi everyone!

You may have noticed that my “Current watch” list has gone from two series down to one. Yup, you’re right. I have decided not to watch The Building Blocks of Life. After watching the first episode of it, I couldn’t bring myself to watching the second one. I’m not sure whether this series will get better later on, but I wasn’t in the mood for it so decided to let this series pass. Therefore I won’t be making any posts further on that series.

Marriage of Inconvenience will be a series I’ll be watching (conveniently as it airs during my dinner time) but will most likely be another series I won’t be posting about. Sure it is kind of amusing watching Bobby and Angela, but Toby really gets on my nerves. I don’t like her acting or her character and she would make me cringe every time she appears on screen.

I’m not really interested in either series that are currently airing..so what will be posted on this blog instead? My plans are continuing posting entries on the previous series I’ve watched and liked. There’s quite a far bit of draft posts I’ve written up previously but haven’t finished or published. Since the year is coming to an end, I hope to clear them by finishing them off and posting them, so the next few weeks will be entries on different TVB Series. For example, the post below, is from Episode 12 of Men Don’t Cry. I intend to complete episodic summaries on that series =) Other series entries may include: The Ultimate Crime Fighter, Word Twisters Adventures. If you have any other requests, you can leave me a comment and I’ll consider it but it all depends if I feel like it.

Finally, a new layout!! ^^ This one should work well with both Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers so I’m quite happy with it…and its GREEN! I think most of K for TVB‘s visitors like the green a lot lol

In this episode, Cecilia gets her teeth fixed!

Thanks to Dayo who has accidentally fallen onto Cecilia in the previous episode, Cecilia falls flat onto the ground where some of her teeth snap off. When her mouth is closed, she looks normal, but when she opens them, she looks uglier than before. Her teeth make her look like a Dracula XD

Dayo immediately runs away because he gets freaked out in what she might do to him and pretends to have broken his own teeth (using radish) as an apology to ask for forgiveness so she won’t kill him.

Luckily, Jenny (played by Charmaine Li) has been able to contact the top Dentist in England (who happened to be in Guangzhou for a few days) to help her get fake teeth that look exactly like real ones! Dayo and his follower see Cecilia with the English man thinking Cecilia has already gone around finding men just because she looks better when her mouth is closed. The two sit close by and watch the scene. Dentist saw Cecilia’s beauty and started taking advantage of her and harassing her and Cecilia slaps him cross his face where he angrily states that he won’t help her fix her teeth. Cecilia tells Jenny that she’d rather have ugly teeth than to her sell her body. Dayo witnesses the scene to realise Cecilia wasn’t after the man…and in hope to help Cecilia, Dayo ends up blackmailing the dentist to help Cecilia fix her teeth. That’s so nice of Dayo ^^!!

Dayo dressed up as a women and took photos of them together in some room in bed XD XD Who would of expected a villain to do something out of kind heart? I really hope that Cecilia would find out one day that Dayo had helped her.

Things seem to have gone a bit awkward between the two after Cecilia’s teeth is fixed. In the following scene, Wong Fei Hong took Dayo to apologise to Cecilia where they met for the first time after her teeth is fixed. I’m not sure how Dayo is feeling now that Cecilia is pretty. He helped get the dentist to fix her teeth but I guess he also doesn’t want her to know that. He just seems a bit sad..(maybe because Cecilia might start showing off her ‘luck’ or ‘beauty’..or maybe because Dayo can’t find a way to put her down anymore. Maybe because other men might start pursuing her?) I know dayo wanted to help Cecilia so she can be happy for once she can live looking beautiful. Still, he doesn’t seem to joke around her much anymore. He has gone more quiet. Dayo still tries to find ways to put her down, saying she only has ‘fake’ teeth..so her outer beauty is also fake.. but does making her feel bad really make him feel happy anymore?

The screenies below show Cecilia dressed up and visiting Wong Fei Hong. She said Jenny helped dress her up and even complimented her, saying she looked beautiful. She ends up falling over because of her shoes and Dayo started saying mean things to her again, saying that she asked for it herself.

A strange thing I found in this scene was that one of Wong Fei Hong’s student commented that Cecilia was their future “Si-Mo”(Mater’s wife)..I don’t understand why and how Cecilia would go out with Wong Fei Hong, or vice versa. She never loved Wong Fei Hong..and after Wong Fei Hong’s talk about Inner beauty being more important than outer appearance..then why is he only pursuing her now that her teeth is fixed.

The rest of the episode shifts focus away from Cecilia and Dayo’s relationship and onto Benz’ story, the play, and Dayo and Benz (who pretends to be Dayo’s real father to use him to get back some pieces of a puzzle that Dayo took off him previously) . I thought it was really slack considering Benz used Dayo’s emotions (even though Dayo used Cecilia’s one before) The fatherly love here also reveals the good side of Dayo, Dayo’s desire to be loved and he slowly continues to change..

The episodes from Gigi’s death onwards were quite exciting and I really wanted to see how Kevin was going to be arrested. Moses tried so hard to help avenge for Gigi and slowly he started to change…Moses wasn’t allowed to be involved in the case but he continued to nevertheless. He went through all means to gather evidence, including driving a car with a fake number plate to scare Kevin’s brother by pretending to run him over ( I personally found that quite shocking) As a police he would beat up people to force them to give him information. However, each time evidence was brought to court, Hugo (played by Marco), being the evil witty lawyer managed to help Kevin get away with it, twisting reality or making the evidence invalid or questionable because of the relationship between the person and Kevin. Kevin’s brother, thinking that Kevin wanted to kill him because he witnessed him drowning Gigi stood up in court as a witness. As expected though, their parents stood on Kevin’s side and didn’t believe him, thinking he was only accusing him out of hatred. Hugo got Kevin’s father to talk to him, leading him into a trap by revealing Kevin’s brother only wanted money and voice recording this.

On another note, Moses ends up illegally accessing ‘Derek’s files through Yoyo, and the photos Derek used to blackmail Kevin- the bed scene photos.

Finally, their last hope was finding a video-recording, one which had Kevin drowning Gigi..Unfortunately, Moses dealt with the video recording as he got the video recording before giving it to Yoyo’s father (another police officer). Yoyo’s sister Elaine overheard this and ends up telling her boyfriend Hugo!!! Its so annoying. At the end, they couldn’t bring the evidence to court because the law states that any evidence directly dealt with a personal related to the accused is invalid because the video-recording could be a fake -_-

I mean, seriously..a video recording of Kevin killing Gigi wasn’t enough ? ?..This was the major disappointment ..there was not enough evidence to charge Kevin guilty and he manages to be set free after murdering three people!

This causes Moses to go insane..doing illegal things to get back Kevin himself. Moses distributes the photos of Kevin and his partner all over the internet.

Moses: Are the photos pretty?

Kevin: So its really you who did it!

Moses: This is just the beginning. We still have a lot to play.

Kevin: You still want to play? In the last court case, you were almost finished.

Moses: You’re not even dead yet, how can I be finished? Since we’ve started playing, we gotta play it to the extreme. Do you think you’ll be finished first, or I’ll be finished first? Don’t think that you’ll get away with it that easily. Even if the legal system doesn’t get you in prison, I won’t let you go. One by one, I’ll leak out all the bad things you’ve done. I want the whole world to know. I want the world to judge you.

Kevin: You’re trying to scare me? That means I gotta do the same to you. My brother told me that someone used a car and tried to run him over. As a CID, you were plotting to murder, misleading the witness to give false evidence in court, misusing your legal powers to do illegal things, its countless. Do you really have what it takes to play?

Moses: Go and try it. You killed Gigi, this is reality, nothing can change that fact. And remember, the legal system is based on evidence.

Kevin: Whether its the reality or not isn’t important. The important thing is that no one will believe it. Fighting in court is a game which uses money. Do you have as much money as I do?

Moses: Money? I don’t have any. Life? I have one. Lets see later if your life is really that good.

Kevin: You want to take me with your life? That’s also what animals do. Humans are smarter than animals because humans can manipulate and have a deceptive face. But if they’re forced by their enemy too much, they’ll fight back and take revenge the same way. When they’re vicious, they’re more vicious than animals.

Moses: Don’t talk crap with me. Whether you’re a human scum or a beast, has nothing to do with me. I just know that you’ll have to pay the price for the things you’ve done.

Kevin: You too, you’re playing so big this time, I don’t think you’ll be able to pay the price.
