Episode 12

The Essay

*At work, Kenneth asks Ella to help read through Bobo’s homework because there were a lot and she does for Bobo. It was an essay:

My Mother
My mother left me and went to the heavens when I was little. But I’ve already found the ideal candidate to be my new mother, her name is Lily Suen. She is really nice to me, taught me many beautiful things and besides, I really like her. She is like my guardian angel sent from the heavens to protect me. Not only beautiful, but also brings Daddy and I a happy life, so I really want her to become my new mother.

Ella was quite amused and really happy to realise how much Bobo loves her.

Kenneth: Ah, so , uhm..the essay, is it ok(does it work)?
Ella: Ok! I really like it.
Kenneth: As long as you like it ^^
Ella: Bobo is so smart, I think I gotta reward her, what do you say?
Kenneth: Whatever you say~ ^^

// From how it looks, when Kenneth asked ‘if the essay was ok or not’, I think he was referring to the idea of Ella being Bobo’s new mother , but Ella’s response made me feel she was saying the essay was good, rather than the actual point of being Bobo’s mum..Kenneth seems to have misunderstood thinking Ella has accepted him.

*Kenneth tells his friends at the bar that he has won Ella’s heart*

Ella finds out the Truth

Ella gives Bobo a present for her well written essay when Bobo tells Ella she didn’t write the essay. Ella realises that Kenneth has been lying to her and she becomes more annoyed when Kenneth’s friend called her “Ah So” (Sister In-law).

Ella: Would you know why Ah Fei would call me “Ah So”?
Kenneth: Ah, they’re just ‘Mo-liew’, they like to play around, don’t worry about them.
Ella: Can’t be more ‘mo-liew’ than you pretending to be your daughter and tricking me!
Kenneth: Yeh, I wrote the essay and drew the pictures and pretended Bobo did them. You saw it and was happy, that’s all it matters. Who cares who drew it?
Ella: Who cares? You’re lying to me!
Kenneth: Do you have to make it sound like a serious problem? I only wanted to make you happy.
Ella: You’re always like that, always playing around. You give people the feeling you’re not serious about anything, don’t you know? And also, before at the bar, you must of used me to gamble with your “pig/dog friends”
Kenneth: I can’t control what they gamble and the things they say. And also, they’re my friends! Not “pig/dog friends”
Ella: If it wasn’t for you, they’ll do that? You can’t toy around with things like this! You’re too immature!

//Did Kenneth honestly think Ella has accepted him? XD Since Bobo likes Lily and wanted to help her daddy be with Ella, I thought at least she would actually write that essay and help him out with the act.

*When Rebecca and Waise were arguing in the office, the other employees stand outside the door listening and one of them tells Kenneth to help say something.

MK: Husband and Wife are just quarreling/playing around, it’s just a part of living, don’t need to be so serious about it, right Lily? (Kenneth puts his arms around Ella’s shoulders)
Lily: Do you really think there’s no problem with that?
MK: What problem? Joel Chan is confessing his love to the women he loves, there’s nothing wrong with that.
Lily: You don’t even know where you’re wrong.
MK: It’s to do with me? I’ve done something wrong? (Lily gets MK’s arm off her)
Lily: You’re always like that, always playing around and not serious about anything.
MK: Where have I been just playing around? I am serious about you!(Lily pushes him away)
Lily: You’re crazy!

Kenneth’s Confession

In a Court Case which was about a man (played by Joel Chan) who had confessed his love for a married women (Rebecca) has hugged and kissed her in public. Kenneth was trying to argue that there is nothing wrong with being honest and expressing yourself. He is applying the case to his own relationship with Ella and half way through he turns and faces her, saying that he really is serious about her. This embrasses Ella and she leaves the court room.

Outside, Lily sees Noel (Queenie Chui) kiss her father on the cheeks in the car and becomes really upset and angry. Not knowing it was the wrong timing, MK approaches Lily and tries to reinforce what he had said in court. MK leans forward towards her and Lily angrily slaps him across his face.

Episode 13- Scene continues

MK: Why did you slap me for!?
Lily: Do you think love is that unstable, you can just be with who you want to be with?
MK: You still didn’t have to slap me! I took the risk of having being sued in court, to confess my love for you in court!
Lily: Did you think about my feelings?
MK: What feelings? If we like each other, just be together
Lily: What do you mean just be together if you like it!? (Lily runs off)

//Can’t Kenneth see Ella’s face expression?? She doesn’t even seem in the mood for it.

YAN who works at a coffee shop meets a romance comic artist called WONG CHI-KWAN (Natalie Tong). Being misled into believing that the girl is from a rich family, YAN decides to chase her. He would never have thought that someone as calculating as himself would end up falling into a love trap.

When I read the first paragraph in the synopsis, I thought that Kevin would be playing the one who is “money-minded” ^^; I guess I was also influenced from the 2007 Sales Presentation clip for The Seventh Day when Kevin was with another girl. It sounds like a simple love story , or maybe the synopsis isn’t giving away too much. I hope it’ll turn out to be very romantic story because it actually doesn’t sound that exciting…

Episode 11

The Gentle Side revealed

There’s a school function at Bobo’s school where the students and parents are planting and caring for the environment. Because of the late notice, Kenneth doesn’t call Ella and gets his friend Mary (who works at Power’s pub), to be Bobo’s “mother” for the day. However, she gets a hangover from drinking too much the night before and Ella shows up, so Ella takes her place. Before she leaves, the two girls have a talk in the female toilets where Ella learns another side of Kenneth, and realises he’s not as “bad” as he seems.

Mary: I remember at that time he said to me that people should love themselves. It doesn’t matter if people look down on you, but you can’t look down on yourself. He also helped me find this job, he can look out for me.
Ella: He would do social work and help people? Be careful that he may have other intentions, and eat you. Mary: You don’t know how much I want him to have other intentions. Don’t see him that he’s always sweet talking and flirting with girls, a lot of the time he’s just saying it. He is, yes, he is very nice to a lot of girls, but it’s all genuine and sincere. Men are supposed to protect and look after women. I’m telling you, men I’ve seen too many, even worse and bad ones I’ve seen, but great guys like Kenneth, there really isn’t that many.

Kenneth is wiping his face with his hands and Ella gives him a tissue. Ella bends down and helps Bobo wipe the sweat off her forehead. Ella was suddenly nice to him and he saw a gentle side of Ella as he watches the two. He doesn’t realise he has continued to wipe his face with his hands and Ella ends up wiping the dirt off Kenneth’s face for him. You can tell Kenneth realises something for her..and he looks really shy lol

Ella helps Kenneth put on sunscreen.

Kenneth asks Ella why she was suddenly so nice to him and she told him it was because Mary had told her some things about him in the past and she didn’t know that he could be so manly~ so she decided to reward him ^^ Ella then mentions that he should find Bobo a properly mother or it would affect Bobo’s growth (rather than having different women take care of her).

Face Slapping in Court

June’s boyfriend has accused Power of slapping him, leaving bright red hand marks on his face. Ella finds a key point to help Power and slaps Kenneth in Court. I thought this part was quite funny, I mean the usual lawyers don’t do this, which makes the lawyers in Survivor’s Law more entertaining to watch.

Kenneth realises what Ella was trying to say and slaps himself on the other side of his face really hard, showing that if you get slapped by someone else, or slapped by yourself, the hand marks are different. Judging from the photos, June’s boyfriend had actually slapped himself.

To kiss his face well?

To celebrate Power being freed, they are at Power’s pub.

Kenneth: I wouldn’t have guessed that you’d be so clever this time, to think of something like that.
Ella: Just learning from you. Sometimes in court, we don’t have to go the proper way, but whether it works or not.
Kenneth: It works, but this slap hurts so much that my face is still very painful.
Ella: How painful ? Let me see? *holds onto his chin then pinches his cheeks* It really is red.
Kenneth: If you keep pinching, I won’t be able to stand it.
Ella: Do you want a kiss?
Kenneth: Really? You said it, you can’t go back on your words!
Kenneth’s friend: Lily, don’t think you’re just scaring him, I’m scared you won’t be able to pay the price!

Lily: I’ll kiss then. Close your eyes first.
Kenneth: Did you hear? *closes his eyes*

*Ella signals Bobo to kiss him on the cheeks*

Bobo: Daddy I kissed you back, does it still hurt?
Kenneth: It doesn’t hurt anymore, but someone doesn’t stick to her words.
Ella: What..? I helped you win your case, you should be the one who is thanking me.
Kenneth’s eye’s widen with a big grin.
Kenneth: Ok! Let me kiss you back!
Ella: You wish! Shout me dinner.
Kenneth: Dinner , simple, ok.

Ella: It’s not simple, I don’t eat chicken wings, sausages and stuff like that. I want to eat French dishes.
Kenneth: No problem, I mean what I say, not like some people XD

The Classy Dinner

Kenneth arrives at the restaurant first and notices his suit is the same as one of the waiters that work there XD When Ella arrives, he couldn’t help but stare at her.

Kenneth: Today you’re really…really.. really beautiful.
Ella: Of course, I’m always am. You’re not bad either, for a moment I thought you were a manager.
Kenneth: Well you said to come to this high class place to eat. I’ve been matching it for a whole afternoon, give me some face.
Ella: Needing Lawyer Sun to put so much effort, I must have a lot of face!
Kenneth: You know, then its good. I’m seeing that you helped my brother.

Ella: I also have a huge present for you! *Kenneth moves his chair closer*
Kenneth: A huge present? What is it?
Ella: Remember last time I told you that you need to seriously help Bobo find a mother? This person really likes little kids, and knows how to care and look after Bobo. And most important, both you and Bobo like her.

Kenneth: I think so too.
Ella: Actually I’ve already found the right candidate.
Kenneth: really?
Ella: Yup! *Turns around and calls out Noel’s name. Kenneth’s face expression immediately changes* My friend.

Ella introduces the two again and Kenneth realises that Ella was trying to pair the two together lol What disappointment for him ^^;

Bobo is extremely hurt by the Kenneth, accusing her of stealing the money and then not wanting her.

Ella went to the bar to find Kenneth for accusing Bobo for stealing the razor. Ella was the one who gave her money to buy it. It was wrong of Bobo to lie to him but he shouldn’t have told her that he doesn’t want her anymore. Kenneth still says that he is still not sure whether Bobo is really his daughter because the results of the DNA test isn’t out yet. When Ella asks him what he would do if she really wasn’t his daughter, Kenneth claims that he’ll send her away to the Homeless (?)! Bobo was actually there and had heard. She starts crying and Ella takes her away trying to cheer her up. Bobo had came with Power to the bar, who had begged Power for a long time to take her to apologise to her dad…awww…poor Bobo!! So slack..even though I don’t think Kenneth really meant that..

Kenneth’s view towards Bobo had alway been affected by his past relationship with Bobo’s mum, “using” him, and then later running away with his brother’s money. Seeing that Kenneth kept blaming Bobo’s mum, affecting the way he sees Bobo, Kenneth’s grandma comes out to tell the truth. She was the one who actually stole the money years ago to help a friend, and everyone thought Bobo’s mum took the money because she “conveniently” had ran away at the same time.

Kenneth waking up to find Bobo’s hair clip on his bed. While he is eating his breakfast by himself, he notices his leg shaking and remembers the time Bobo pointed it out to him. Kenneth misses Bobo, thinking about the good times they shared together. Something seemed empty and missing from his life.

Bobo ends up staying at Ella’s place and Kenneth tries to find ways to contact her and apologise to her. The vice principal wanted to see Bobo’s parents so Ella and Kenneth both went. She was concerned about what was affecting her recently, and how she kept asking about DNA.

Kenneth apologises to Bobo, and Bobo admits that she was wrong to lie as well. Kenneth explains to her what a DNA was, and why the test was made. This really bothered Bobo, and wonders if Kenneth would really send her away if she wasn’t his daughter. Ella tries to cheer her up saying the results aren’t out yet, so their DNA may be the same. Ella decides to take her to play at her swimming pool, hoping Kenneth would come as well. Ella tells Bobo to show Kenneth the photo they took at a amusement park, and it featured Bobo, Ella, Ella’s dad, Noel, and a “cut and pasted photo” of Kenneth. Kenneth is reallly touched when he sees the picture agrees to come along ^^

Daddy Seal

At Ella’s home, Bobo was still pretty down about the DNA thing and wasn’t in the mood to play with the water.

Ella: Is it really important whether or not she’s your own daughter? Besides, you two have been together so long, as if you don’t have any feelings.

Kenneth: If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be so bothered.

Ella goes inside to get Bobo a drink. Kenneth tries to cheer up Bobo by jumping into the pool and swimming up to her. He decided to imitate a seal to make a performance for her lol

Half way when Kenneth jumps into the pool, he doesn’t come back up for a while, and Bobo jumps into the pool where she starts to drown. When Kenneth “appears” out of the water, he doesn’t find Bobo to realise she was in the water and quickly saves her. Bobo tells her that she wanted to play with her daddy seal.

Bobo: “Bobo only knows that she only has one daddy which is you. Please don’t not recognise me”

Awww!! Very sweet scene!!! ^^

Bobo and Kenneth are together again and closer than ever! Bobo goes home with her daddy ^__^ Kenneth realises that it wasn’t important if Bobo was his real daughter or not because the feelings and bonding were there. Kenneth’s grandma returns with the DNA results and Kenneth becomes extremely nervous. He goes into his room then later starts running out in joy, saying the results did prove that he and Bobo were blood related!! I was really happy for him then, though I did find it a little suspicious when his grandma said : “Good it didn’t waste my effort“.

On the other hand, Ella tried to help Sammul by offering him to work for her dad. It was an excellent opportunity for a turning point for his career. However, he wanted to test Sammul’s ability first.

Selena’s dad is still not happy with Sammul, but after Selena’s mum saw how much the couple were committed to each other and when Sammul promises to marry her daughter and take care of her for the rest of his life, she got their blessing. At that moment, Sammul said he’ll marry Selena but next he changed refused to marry Selena because he felt it wasn’t the right time yet. He wanted his career to go well before he gets married.

Selena did not know how to tell her mum when she found out Sammul’s intentions. Her mum had already persuaded Selena’s dad in accepting Sammul as their son in-law and organised a dinner to discuss about the wedding. However, Sammul does not turn up to the family dinner, saying he has a very important meeting (gone to see Ella’s dad). Sammul’s parents are not impressed by Sammul’s priorities and how much he cares about their wedding, so they leave. At the shopping centre, they see Sammul with Ella looking at something at a shop (angered to see that Sammul’s important meeting was being with another girl) and in hope to ask for an explanation, they rush down to find them, using some other side eixt. Being in a rush, Selena’s mum pushes open a door (where screws were loose) which was pulled open before her on the other side. As a result she falls over and injures her back, and the family “pendant” breaks in half. They hope to sue the shopping centre for compensation for the injury, as they failed to provide adequate safety precautions. Selena’s dad wants to find Kenneth as their representative lawyer and Kenneth accepts the case.

However, the shopping centre was owned by Ella’s dad and he gives the case to Sammul, as a chance to prove himself worthy.!! >_< poor Sammul who is stuck in the middle…having to choose between his career or his lover. Sammul ends up taking the case, hoping Selena would understand tha he wanted a good career so he can earn money to bring her happiness…

Kenneth ends up losing to Sammul and is unable to claim compensation for Selena’s mum. Selena can no longer face him and breaks off their relationship 🙁

Hey Everyone! Gong Hei Faat Choi! Wishing everyone a prosperous new year! 2008 welcomes the year of the rat! I can’t believe how fast time flies..especially the 12 year cycle! It’ll be reaching the year of the rabbit in no time XD scary thought lol let’s just take each year as it come, shall we?

On another note, in a few days time I’ll be off to Hong Kong and Japan for a two week holiday! ^___^!! yay~!! I’m quite excited about it all! ! I’ll be off very soon 🙂 I hope it’s not freezing over there…! It’ll also be my first trip to Tokyo, Japan. I’ve always been interested in the Japanese Culture and into anime, so I think it’ll be fascinating to see anime come to life ^^ (minus the hair colours etc of course)

As I leave Australia for HongKong, I will be moving away from my TVB episodes from satellite, to TVB on Hong Kong television hehe~ (which is about 2 weeks ahead of what’s been broadcasted in Australia satellite) I don’t know if I’ll be watching it there, but it is always an option. It’s good to take a break though =)

Does this mean there’ll be no updates for the next two weeks? Not quite.. ^^ you’ll have to come back and see for yourself =) However, because of my absence for the next two weeks, it is unlikely that I would be watching The Gentle Crackdown and Wasabi Mon Amour properly. It may be the two series which I’ll skip, and when I get back, The Master of Taichi and The Seventh Day will be releasing soon! *anticipating*

Finally, K for TVB will be having its own domain name soon! As a Chinese New Year present from Chibi (K for TVB’s host from http://moonsticks.org), the name has been bought and registered and is currently under processing. It will be working in a few days time! As a result, will be changed into http://k-tvb.net (nice and short and hopefully easier to remember^^)! Thank you Chibi!! 😀

*KTVB votes for Survivor’s Law2

The two series that have just finished airing in Hong Kong: Wars of In-Laws 2 and Survivor’s law 2. Both of them are sequels to two popular series I quite enjoyed watching, Survivor’s Law which was released in 2003, and Wars of In-Laws in 2005. For WOIL, the sequel was a modern-day version of the ancient prequel. For SL, it continued on from the prequel, but there was little link, having new characters.

Looking at the current poll results, Wars of In-Laws 2 seems to be making the obvious lead and I also believe it is because of the popularity of its prequel and original cast.

In Survivor’s Law 2, only Sammul’s character was kept, while the other original three leads: Raymond Lam, Myolie Wu and Bernice Liu were removed. Out of the four, Sammul’s character was my least favourite.

I personally found both series enjoyable to watch, but towards the middle and latter half of both stories, I didn’t like them as much. The story got very messy, especially in Survivor’s Law 2 because things seemed very rushed.

Understanding and Forgiving: The Ex In-laws have their talk

Myolie has dinner with Liza and tells her the bad news about Elva. Liza already knew what had happened.

Liza: Actually, I have nothing to do with Elva anymore, so you don’t have to report anything to me. You haven’t worked at Elva that long either, so you shouldn’t blame yourself too much or feel too upset about it.

Myolie: Don’t you blame me for not doing it so well?
Liza: Actually there are a lot of things that you can’t control. You’ve been able to hang on this far, it’s really good already, it’s not bad.
Myolie becomes touched and becomes teary.
Myolie: It’s the first time you’ve complimented me.
Liza gives her a tissue.
Liza: Are you saying that because you’re grateful to me, or blaming me?
Myolie shakes her head.
Myolie: I really regret that I didn’t get along with you in the past. And now, you’re not my mother in-law anymore. Now even Elva is gone, we’re no longer related…*Myolie starts crying*
Liza: Sometimes, if it hasn’t gone to the last moment, we wouldn’t know.
Myolie: It’s already at the last moment, there’s no turning back. Kyle and I, with you, with Elva, will never have any relationship anymore..
Liza: Why would that be? You are my ex- daughter in-law, and I’m your ex-mother in-law. We’re also ex-boss and ex-employee. And we’re also living in the same city. There’s still a lot of way where we can be related. You really are pale today, you didn’t sleep well last night did you? No, don’t leave tonight. Audrey, prepare her room. Later after you finish your meal, go back to the room, take a shower and rest You’ve been working too hard lately.

I loved this part!! A little emotional but I really like Myolie and Liza’s relationship the way it is~

Back in Bosco’s bedroom…Myolie remembers the time when Bosco bought her a pair of golden shoes: a matching couple set.

The Apology-Myolie resigns from her position and announces the end of Elva.

Liza(Ophelia) appears with Joyce (CoCo) and announces in front of the media that she has successfully bought Elva!^__^ Vivien (Athena) had intentions of selling off Elva so Joyce had previously pretended to side with Vivien (Athena), and deliberately breached copyright issues so that Elva’s reputation is damaged. As a result, the buyer no longer wants Elva, and the value of Elva has dropped. This allows Liza to persuade her Vincent (Mark)’s dad to sell her the business. He also finsd out and tells his wife that Athena is actually on their competitor’s side to take down Elva.

Athena loses Mark and his mother’s trust and she angrily confronts Liza and Myolie, saying she underestimated them because she thought their relationship was bad and that she was only up against Myolie. She was also fooled by Joyce and she angry walks off, slipping on an orange peel lol

The T-shit Proposal

Derek had previously yelled at Joyce and slapped her across the face in front of everyone when they found out that she was the “traitor”. Here Derek asks his twins to help ask for forgiveness and then proposes to her! It was pretty cute~ He had “Marry Me” written on the back of the t-shirts, but they stood in the wrong order and then later fixes it. Derek gives a t-shirt for her to wear and Joyce tells him that she didn’t know he had such bad taste , and the shirt was too small. Derek replies, saying that he can change the size for her if he wants, and she tells him there is no need. She tries really hard to fit the shirt through her head XD The family of four walk off together holding hands..on the back of Joyce’s t-shirt reads “yes” hehe~~

The Dream- Bosco returns home

In Myolie’s dream, Bosco returns home and he apologise for leaving without telling her. He tells her that he completed the house, to show that he can give a sense of security to those who need it, to prove that he can protect her, look after her, and give her happiness. Myolie was so happy to see him, she didn’t care “It doesn’t matter, as long as you’ve come back“. Myolie wakes up calling out for Bosco…

Bosco is Missing..

Myolie receives a call from the place Bosco was volunteering at, saying that a landslide had occurred and Bosco went missing.

Myolie promises Liza that she would find Bosco and bring him back to her.

Bosco and Myolie are happily jogging,wearing their matching golden shoes.
Myolie: The winding blowing towards us sure feels comfortable!
Bosco: The air sure feels fresh!
Myolie: The air in Hong Kong is now getting worse and worse.
Bosco: When I’m with you, industrial areas will turn into a perfume factory.
Myolie: Sweet talking with me? ~ but I like it!

The above is my own English lyric translation of the themesong (so please credit if repost) ! Of course, if there’s something I have misinterpreted, feel free to let me know and I’ll fix it up 🙂

The song is sung by Kenneth Ma in the perspective of his character “Sun Man Guan” (MK Sun). He mentions in the first part about “resenting this love” and I believe he was referring to his past experience with ex-girlfriend (Bobo’s mum). He was deeply hurt when she had left him, however, he was later able to find his true love, Lily (played by Ella Koon).

The last part he speaks of being an ordinary guy, there “isn’t anything outstanding” about him. Ella’s father looked down on him, and previously Ella did the same. He was not a wealthy guy and led a “lousy” life. Ella’s father felt he was not good enough for his daughter and couldn’t give her happiness. However, he wants to prove that he can, and his love for her was everlasting . He describes himself to be “gentle”, a down-to-earth type of guy.

The only part I found a bit confusing was “But the enemy, can roam with me over the world“. The only way that makes sense if he is referring Ella as his enemy lol (either reference to his relationship with her in the past, or metaphor as the two are the type of couple which argue and tease each other). Maybe I’ve misinterpreted the whole phrase altogether ^^;
