My Translations (please give proper credit if reposted, thanks!)

Silence, as though laughter is no longer pleasant to listen to
Speech, cannot help but already cannot hear, how can I respond?
Can use the heart to listen, yet still cannot be sure
Both eyes can still see clearly

*
Who will be genuine towards me? If spoken out, is that considered?
And no need to leave a promise, only say sweet words makes mistakes
Use my pair of eyes to look, would it be clear? Ask who will treat with
genuine feelings*
Intuition infers that it shouldn’t be wrong

Suppose, I didn’t say I cared
In my heart, actually very clear about your real sincerity
Useless suspicions, if expresses
A gentle hug, will know

[Love Exchange] Episode 2

It turns out Michael had used Anita as part of his plan to lure out the man. He previously leaked out information on the internet about Dick’s USB containing important data. Anita was more angry when she found out he had planned it and decided to risk putting her in danger. Michael had given Anita an empty USB which the man stole and so he thinks it has something to do with Dick and Bonnie (Angela)’s death. They took the matter to the police and turns out Michael used to be a cop too. After rewatching the video clip, they realized 1/2 hour of the clip was deleted off, but Anita didn’t want to investigate the matter further since her husband was already dead.

Michael returns to his job after taking a ‘break’ and he works in security as the head.

There are elements of the story that remind me of Catch Me Now, like how Michael works as a Body/Security Guard (much like Sharon’s character), leading a team of 5.  They also use the balcony scene (like one at Damien’s meeting place) and Anita’s housewife character reminds me of Idy’s YungYung character (just a bit). In Michael’s team, there is one girl (played by Mandy Cho) who’s a great fighter, nicknamed “Little dragon girl” and said to outstanding the other male team members. She seems to have a secret crush on Michael’s character ^^; Lead by ‘Master mind’ Michael, the team are highly skilled and professional, and with his clever arrangement, they are able to complete their jobs, such as protecting the stars from the paparazzi, luring them away.

Despite Anita refusing to help, Michael continues with the investigation to find the tattooed man and with help from a team member, he managed to locate the tattoo store where it was done, the ‘group’  the man was in, and finally the man’s home. The man’s wife was there, saying her husband ran away and left them after he found out he had cancer and the insurance company in which he bought insurance from wouldn’t let him claim the insurance.

On the other hand, being a housewife for awhile, Anita struggles to find a decent job but ends up getting employed at a supermarket store whose manager does not treat her well.  On her lunch break, the tattooed man follows her and captures her as hostage, demanding for $1million, saying her husband Dick was the insurance agent who tricked him. Michael arrives asking him why he took Dicks hard disk and USB, and whether there were anymore secrets. When the man realized Michael didn’t bring any money, he attempted to commit suicide with Anita and jumps off the building! Anita gets saved but the man falls off and dies. Their last bit of ‘clue’ was gone and Michael is now left clueless in finding out the truth.

Back at work, Anita gets verbally abused by her senior again and again. This is where Power makes his first appearance in the series. When Power saw the bullying, he defends for her and takes her away. He is actually Dick’s boss at the Insurance company and seeing her in the financially difficult position she was in, offers her a job in sales. Anita has no experience but Power is offering to look out for her. Krystal also makes her appearance, another Insurance agent who worked at the same level as Dick, Power’s two managers. Anita will be working under Krystal’s team. Power seems to be a pretty calm, nice guy and Krystal is very professional and skilled. Krystal seems to be very competitive and can be the ruthless type to get where she wants to be.

However, I just think there’s more to Krystal and Power, they seem a bit suspicious to me. I don’t like Krystal’s character and I do think these two have something to do with the deaths. Could it be that Power is taking in Anita because he feels he owes her? When Krystal was having lunch with Anita, Krystal started questioning her about her relationship with Dick, and what he tells her about work. Anita tells her that she doesn’t know much about what Dick faces at work, nor does he talk much about his colleagues..

In order to keep up and work harder with her job, Anita stays at the company late at night. When Anita was alone in the washroom, the lights start flicking on and off and she tried to clam herself down, saying it wasn’t a TV series and that usually, at ‘this’ moment, a ghost will appear in the toilet. When she pushed open the toilet door, a ghost appeared!! Anita screamed!! And I screamed!! LOL I don’t think its supposed to be a horror film but it still freaked me out XD Anita ran to open the door to the toilet but it was locked!!

Comments: I actually don’t feel much for this series, except its a nice feeling to see more TVB stars returning to TVB to film, like Idy Chan(Catch Me Now) , Anita Yuen (Love Exchange) 🙂 I’ve recently re-watched Gallen’s “Golden Faith” and enjoyed it a lot. Gallen’s a great actor so I have high hopes that his acting will be really good!I wonder how Gallen and Myolie will pull off as lovers..

Love Game– Love Exchange Themesong

I really like the themesong and I think it suits the series really nicely, especially the lyrics 🙂 I’m listening to this song over and over again as I think of Episode 10, awww..

Here is my attempt at the English translations : )Please give proper credit if re-posted or used, thanks! As usual, feel free to correct me if I’ve misinterpreted any of it~

Memories, very heavy,  already no way of coping with the aftermath

Perhaps, after freeing oneself from the tied-heart, can remove the burden
Similarly,  feelings, still no way of getting rid of the psychological heaviness
like in a difficult situation, let the principles become twisted
If you observe from this distance, you can avoid getting hurt
Even though release, suspicious love will not change
At least it will forever bring deep love, as if already in love

Chorus*

If I get you, not necessarily can remember forever
Right at the end, will still be abandoned
Even if I love you, willingness can store up
Want to run further, should leave behind a distance
Once having you, can also lose you
But at least this relationship, no one can compare
If changing the method to show one’s skills, perhaps it would be more graceful

Love Game, no way of grasping tightly, resembling the air

Meaningless love, destroying both parties’ promise
At least, after feelings change, who will care about gains?
Who will also know, actually leaving behind this distance can remember
the feelings
More and more happier, even if the future, we’re  running away together
from the cold

Repeat*
Love is like a game, no point in wasting thought

If I get you,not necessarily can remember
Right at the end, it will still be abandoned
Even if I love you, willing can store up
This kind of love, will never have a limit, til death
Once having you, can also lose you
But at least this relationship, no one can compare
If change the method to show one’s skills, perhaps it would be more graceful

Love Game, no way of grasping tightly, resembling the air
Love Game, no way of grasping tightly, resembling the air

[Love Exchange] Episode 1

A pretty interesting episode!

The story starts with Anita’s wedding with her husband ‘Dick’, saying she’s the happiest women in the world, but the scene quickly changes to her husband’s funeral.  Anita’s husband has been found dead in a car with another women (Angela Tong) and cops have come to believe the two were having an affair. At the funeral, Michael appears as a suspicious man spying on her from a distance.

Heartbroken by the death of her husband and the thought that he has cheated on her, she tries hard to forget and live on  by putting the sadness behind her. She even wanted to throw away her husband’s things, but was scolded by her mother in-law. No matter how much she hated her husband for what he did, she decided to stay by her mother-in-law and brother-in-law (played by Ah Pao from Men Don’t Cry)’s side and help support the family. Her mother-in-law doesn’t treat her well though and is often unreasonable, scolding her and blaming her for the death of her son but she is filial and takes it all. Without Dick’s support, the family is facing financial difficulties.

While Anita was at Dick’s house,  a thief breaks in and Dick’s computer hard disk gets stolen. She gets attacked too and in the struggle, a tattoo was revealed on the man’s arm. She chases him out but loses him when Michael’s car slightly hits her. Michael is disguised as a dopey, dumb-ish/slow man who always stutters in his speech . He seemed to try to hold her up from chasing the thief and offers to take her to the hospital.

He later appears again, saying he is actually Dick’s classmate when they were little, gaining Anita’s mother in-law’s trust who happily welcomes him to move next door to them. Anita  doesn’t trust him and doesn’t want anything to do with him, especially since he was related to her husband. Michael appears to be trying to get close to them..

Michael tries to ask Anita more about the death of Dick, whether she has doubts about the affair or if she knew the women  but Anita becomes extremely upset and frustrated. Having moved next door, Michael starts setting up security/spy devices facing Anita’s doorway and bedroom.

In order to get money for the family, Anita was ‘forced’ to sell away her marriage jewelry, but was seen by Michael and offered to buy it off her for a higher value. The two sat at a park while he listened to her sad story.

When the two return home after an emotional talk, a man delivers flowers to Anita, with a present which was previously sent by her husband for their anniversary. In it had a USB and Michael told her that perhaps her husband has something important in there. Anita tries to avoid it, but after much thought, she takes it over to Michael’s place in hope to watch it together. In it was a video clip from her husband, but he does not say much except “I’m sorry…but I really love you, I really do”Anita, believing it was her husband admitting having an affair, angrily leaves.

Anita’s mother in-law accuses Anita being with Michael, and Michael starts defending her. Anita thought it was a bit strange how he was able to deliver his words so confidently and fluently.

When Anita’s brother in-law notices the camera facing Anita’s room, Anita confronts him; asking who he is really was, a stalker?? In his room were newspaper articles related to Dick and the Angela’s death.

Michael admits that Angela is his wife, and he does not believe his wife’s death was caused from an affair. He believes there is more behind it than what appears on the surface. He loves his wife and he knows his wife loves him and would not believe his wife would cheat on him for another man. Michael retells his story, saying that Angela suddenly said she wanted to leave him, without giving a proper reason. But before  he found out Angela’s death, she called him, saying she wanted to come home to him…but in the end, she never did.

Michael tries to convince Anita to work with him to find out the truth, but she refuses, hoping to just let the past be. Michael gives the USB necklace back to Anita and as she wonders off, a motor vehicle drives up to her and snatches her USB! Michael throws a rubbish bin and tries to stop the man but was only about to cut his arm where a tattoo was revealed once again. The man managed to escape but Michael suspects it was the same man who broke into Anita’s house before and stole the hard disk.

Here are some of the opening screencaptures made from the themevideo. There’s nothing really impressive about it but it does have a nice themesong, sung by Kary Ng.

It has been a long time..I have finished this series in early April which is almost 3 months ago..finally I have the time to do a final overview ^^I figured I should hurry and finish this post now or it won’t be published indefinitely (and perhaps appropriate while the banner is still on The Master of Taichi XD)-as always, this post contains spoilers-

I love this series so much! From beginning until end this story grabbed onto me..so much about it is just so wow.

The scenery is so beautiful! The fighting is awesome..and there’s also a lot of character development and drama! All the relationships between characters (Disciples/master, between friends, siblings, lovers…) were interesting to watch.

After watching 3 more months of TVB series, this is my favourite series so far for 2008!

Vincent as Mo Ma:

I loved watching his character grow. Watching the final episode then looking back at episode 1 you can see different people; not only his martial arts but he also grew as a person- advancements in life and able to live in a mind of peace with no hatred. He turned from a person filled with hatred, stubbornness and a vengeful heart to someone who learned to care, love  and let go… I loved watching when he became “soft” instead of being so “wooden”. His martial arts is also  awesome. When Raymond appeared in the story and fought with him for the first time, Vincent was so arrogant, filled with high confidence even though he was still an amateur. That made me feel embarrassed for him. I loved his character development and it was Master Kwan’s sacrifice and Song Ching who changed him. He grew emotionally and the transition was very smooth and natural. He was able to open up more and become more sociable. This is the first time seeing Vincent Zhao on screen and I think he’s an awesome martial artist and a great actor. I’m so glad to have been able to watch his production!

Melissa as Song Ching:

One of my favourite performances from Melissa! Being the very caring, kindhearted, gentle character she was, I thought I’d probably be bored watching her but Melissa’s performance made it otherwise. Her character was just so likable (especially latter in the story where she had greater significance) and I pitied her character for all the suffering and pain she had to go through, both from her family back-story and love plot. Because of her father (played by Lau Kong), she was left an orphan, though raised up by Kenneth’s mother, she was used as a servant for their family to repay them for bringing her up.  The scenes which I felt were outstanding were scenes with her and father. I was very impressed and touched by their crying scenes. On the romance side, the two sisters (Selena and Myolie) took her love ones away from her; first Kenneth and then Vincent. Finally, at the end when we think that Melissa and Vincent can finally be together, she was given another burden- to look after Selena and Kenneth’s child. I wished that she wasn’t so selfless…I want her to find her happiness too..

Raymond as Hiu Sing:

I loved his character from the moment he appeared on screen. He was fun, playful and genuine when it came to helping other. He had a very loving heart and went easy on others. I was sympathetic towards his character as he went through ups and downs. His love for Myolie kind of blinded him though, making his hatred and insecurities from losing to Vincent take the most of him. I understand where things were coming from though so I don’t blame him. There was an episode or two  near the ending where Raymond’s character turns “bad”, but I was really happy he was able to redeem himself and become the character I loved so much once again. His crying scenes were also very touching…poor guy.

Myolie as Ji Kwai:

One with the very extreme personality. I remember watching her scenes from the start. Her acting wasn’t horrible but she played such an annoying, hated character: one who went through so much. I did not like her character at all though 😛 If you noticed my episodic summaries, most of the translated direct quotes were from Myolie’s character, simply because I wanted to emphasis what kind of character she was, saying the things she did. It was amusing in a way to see what kind of annoying character she was, and it would often make my eyes roll.

I found her really irrational. She obviously cared about herself more than anyone else- very very selfish. How can she hate Vincent so much because she expected him to return her love? It was her own misunderstanding and she felt he owed her but he didn’t even do anything! He never implied that he liked her~ yet she blamed everything on him.

I once read a discussion at a forum where someone made an very interesting point about her character, saying that she is, however, loyal and nice to those who help her. I can’t remember which forum it is, but I guess that’s another side of her if you look into her character more deeply.

I don’t think Myolie did a bad job in acting, it’s definitely a very hard character to play. When she was “See Kam” I started to like her because she was really sweet and wasn’t as aggressive; losing her memories and she started to clam down.  I started to like her character towards the end (around episode 20) after she finally decided to leave Vincent and I wanted her to find her happiness with Raymond.  She created a lot of drama for the series.

I believe the 4 leads did a very good job. There were a lot of  crying scenes and almost all of them were so touching (excluding Myolie crying for self-pity)!

Selena as Chui Kui: At first I found her quite a sweet, innocent character but then after awhile I got annoyed at how pushy she was. However later on I grew to like her again when Melissa found her happiness with Vincent. At the end though when  she died, I couldn’t help but think she was so selfish for asking Melissa to take care of her son…

Kenneth as Fung Nin: One who doesn’t seem to group up. He is the character I did not like throughout the series. I don’t believe that he deserves Melissa or Selena..the two deserve someone so much better. I don’t know what Selena even sees in him, nor how he can be the man she could rely on for the rest of her life. He is weak, indecisive, immature and needs a lot of baby-sitting. I think he is very lucky to have Selena. The worst of his character came out when he tried to get Melissa back because he liked her cooking etc. He already had Selena but it wasn’t enough for him. When Melissa wouldn’t return to his side, he gets drunk and blames Selena for leading him on, on the night they started their relationship Argh!! omg.. I can’t believe Selena forgave him so easily after that…This has got to be one of the hated character Kenneth has played. His character doesn’t really do much for the story either (yes, he’s there for the love plot but) I found him quite useless..

Derek and Yoyo: Derek seems to  fit nicely into the roles of a ‘cool’,  powerful man, protecting a weaker women (like in Face to Fate, Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion). I’m glad Yoyo does not find out the truth that Derek was the one who killed her father. I was rather disappointed with Derek’s character though. I felt that he was going to change, and help Vincent who he ended up becoming friends with. He finally got out of not having to lie to Vincent anymore, yet he continued to work for the police Captain. I guess it goes to show the tough decisions he had to make- to return the favour his god-brother which he felt he owed. I like Yoyo’s character and feel proud of what she did at the end, even though she died in the end..

Master Kwan: A great actor! I liked his character a lot =) His sacrifice was sad and touching and I enjoyed watching the bond he shared with Mo Ma.

Melissa’s father- Lau Kong: TVB uses this a lot. An “evil” man yet has a soft spot for his daughter and wouldn’t do anything to hurt her (like in Face to Fate- Tavia and her father). He can really gain your sympathy and it makes you feel that there is still some good in him. I also like the way he cares for Raymond like his own son, yet being the manipulative man he was, he still used Raymond…*sigh* I liked the final scene before his death~ they were quite touching.
Vincent and Melissa

My favourite couple in Taichi!! Vincent and Melissa shared a high level of chemistry together, even when they just look at each other you can feel something <3 Both being orphans, the two share a feeling no other in the series can relate to. It is Melissa who changes him and complements him. There were so many touching scenes and lots of sweet moments which I’ve detail nicely in all the episodic summaries, so I won’t elaborate on them again. I also enjoyed every ‘rice’ scenes/references hehe.. I enjoyed watching the two; they went through so much to be together and I really wished they did at the end..

Raymond and Myolie: The two shared so many crying scenes together and I felt very involved with the interactions that exchanged. There were some very powerful line especially towards the latter half of the series.  Because Myolie was so obsessed with Vincent, I wasn’t 100% convinced when Myolie loved Raymond when she went to his side…At the wedding day where Raymond rejects her, she tells him that he “was the man she once loved the most, and now, he was the man who hurt her the deepest “. I’m not convinced how true that statement is, but it sure sounds pretty powerful XD During then, i jsut had to convince myself that she did love him (but I think I was just glad she finally let go of Vincent, who never loved her). I liked Raymond and Myolie’s relationship best when Myolie lost her memories and became “See Kam”. That was when the relationship felt more genuine. Every time, Raymond would appear by Myolie’s side when she needed someone, and no matter how evil Myolie’s character was, the gentle music playing when she was with Raymond made me feel liking her. I’m glad the two were able to live happily, ever after..

I highly recommend this series =) I thoroughly enjoyed it ! Which was better? First half or latter half? I can’t say lol because I honestly found the story exciting the whole way through! Perhaps the second half simply because the story reaches its peak climax!
