Synopsis

An incisive portrait of a business woman
torn between duty and desire

HONG PO KEI’s (Sheren Tang) engagement with Wuxi rice baron TSEUNG KIU (Ngo Wah) broke off many years ago when a natural disaster hit the country. Later when the country was running out of food supply her whole family was killed and she become a criminal. Over the years, KEI has never got over KIU. She has been trying to prove he is not as heartless as the others think. Fate has it that they meet again and she becomes his fourth wife. KIU’s first and second wives, YAN FUNG YEE (Susan Tse Suet Sum) and PANG KIU (Kiki Sheung), always make things difficult for KEI. KEI, who is an extremely clever person who never wastes time on trivial things, turns every threat into an opportunity. This makes KIU appreciate her wisdom and persistence. He entrusts his business to her and tells her to find a suitable successor for him before he dies.

Despite all the attacks in the family, KEI manages to keep the business in good shape. She has never forgotten KIU’s last wish, too. By chance, she discovers that TSEUNG PIT CHING (Ron Ng), KIU’s second son, is not really a playboy but an upright person loved by everyone in the shop. She therefore guides and helps him in every possible way, but her efforts are met with CHAI KAU’s (Wayne Lai) challenges. KAU seeks vengeance for being mistreated and wants a pay back from TSEUNG family. After rounds after rounds of battle wits and actual fights, KEI and KAU begin to appreciate each other. KAU even falls for KEI as time goes by.

I really like how there’s a parallel story happening in E.U (which sorta reminds me of the affect in The Seventh Day), where something similar is happening to two different characters, but under different circumstances. One would be Kathy and her relationship with her mother, and Michael’s relationship with Elanne. In this episode, both Michael and Ron both choose their career over the woman they love. They started becoming harsh towards them and started distancing themselves. I thought it was heartbreaking for the girls…so slack!! (though they’re probably just as hurt) Yet, I think it’s because they love them, which is why they don’t want them to get involved/put them in danger/use them anymore.

For Ron- he doesn’t want to use Elanne to get close to Michael. He also wants to focus on his undercover job… For Michael though, something tells me he’s willing to use Kathy to get what he wants (after being reminded that he’s the one who killed her husband and that they can’t be together…)

After Michael.M saved Kathy from the explosion, he started avoiding her and showed no care or concern for her whatsoever. He gave the credit to Laughing, pretending he never visited her while she was still in hospital.

Kathy didn’t understand what had changed between them or what went wrong because they were always really close. She decided to confront him and ask for an explanation.

Michael told her that it’s because they’re getting close too quickly and he doesn’t want that anymore. He’s reflected what’s important to him in his life, and realises that other than family (his daughter), nothing is more important to him than his career. Kathy refused to accept the explanation as it contradicted to his previous confession of wanting her to be happy, despite no return.

Michael decided to go more extreme by insulting her that he minds being with her because she was once a prostitute. omg. SO SLACK!

After Laughing reminds Ron about his relationship with Elanne, Ron realises he can’t go on being close with Elanne. He doesn’t want to use her, or hurt her, again.

Like Michael, Ron starts avoiding her and doesn’t answer her calls. She got really angry and frustrated and didn’t know what was wrong again. She asked him if it was because he’s getting jealous how she always praises ‘Lucky Prince’. Instead, he openly told her that he’s bored playing with her and doesn’t want to waste his time on her anymore. Elanne was really upset and wanted to turn to her other important friend- ‘Lucky Prince’ from her blog. She left Lucky Prince a message, saying she wanted to meet up with him at a park that night. Unfortunately, that ‘Lucky Prince’ would not show up as Ron would not go…That night it rained and Elanne continued to stand in the rain waiting hopeless for him. “You won’t do this to me too will you?”

Ron couldn’t help but to have a look to see if she was ok. He hid on the side and watched her from afar, but couldn’t come out T_T Why have to be so slack? ? =(

Hi everyone!

*Update* I’ve just made screen-captures for the spoiler in episode 22!

As you are all probably aware, I’ve been quite into watching EU (Emergency Unit) for the past few weeks. I have finished the series, yet still have a few more posts I wanna write up for it ^^ Neat yeh? I hope TVB will produce some more exciting series to watch!

As for the moment, I haven’t quite started on anything else. Unlike in the past when I had time to watch any TVB series that was releasing,  I only want to be watching one (rather than 2 or more at the same time) and only if I believe will make good use of my time 🙂

The King of Snookers, Wintermelon Tale and Man in charge actually doesn’t appeal to me much…(where’s my Raymond Lam gone? haha I hope he’s 3rd album will be releasing soon!)

Let’s see..what else has been happening..oh that’s right! I’ve finally set up an email address at k-tvb.net 🙂 About time yeh? Please no spam though, and only use if you really need to. I’d much prefer comments about my posts on the respective posts, general TVB series comments/blog comments on the tagboard or Guestbook. This song is sung in the persona of YaoYao (Elanne Kong) about her feelings/relationship towards Ah Man(Ron Ng). I think it specifically describes the circumstances in Episode 27 (screenshot above) when YaoYao confronts Ron for using her feelings to get close to her father. The song title “Palm Print” refers to her being slapped, and the palm print that is left on her face.

‘I’m used to no one treating me nicely‘ refers to the past when her father abandoned her and ‘no one’ cared about her. It was Ron who really cared about her; yet now he is the one who is hurting her the most.

Even though she knows he’s a ‘bad’ guy,  she has already fallen deeply in love with him that she can’t bring herself to do anything against him. She couldn’t bring herself to break up with him, nor reveal his undercover identity to her father because she fears he will kill him.  Even if it’s wrong for falling in love with him, and letting him use her- if she was to choose again, I think YaoYao would end up choosing to love him, and be used by him again. That’s what love does to someone. Once she’s stepped into it “how could you.. not sink?”

At the end of the series, YaoYao breaks up her relationship with him because she could no longer face him…

I was so excited when I heard about this news!! 😀 I’ve never seen it happen before and I was really happy for Michael Tse!! YAY! I don’t really care if this movie will disappoint (I mean I do care haha but), I’m just glad I can see more of him XD What more can a Laughing-gor fan want? lol I wonder if it’ll be released later this year?
