[You’re Hired] Episode 3

Due to Charmaine’s crazy idea of free food delivery within 15mins of ordering, Theresa makes her way to delivery the noodles at a very dangerous creepy street late at night. Luckily Dayo was there to accompany her (such a gentlemen ^^). It was funny watching how scared both of them were but how persistent Theresa stayed when Dayo kept trying to convince her to just go back xD (This seriously was not worth it)

TVB You're Hired Episode 3
While walking there; they suddenly notice two large gangs walking towards them in both directions xD They acted as if they weren’t there and were about to start a fight.

TVB You're Hired Episode 3
Dayo: Don’t go in there- do you hear me? Let’s go back
Theresa: No..’Chai Gei’ will lose their trust
Dayo: They’re gonna start a fight! Let’s get out of here!
Theresa: No- EXCUSE ME!
*The gangster pause and turn to her*
Theresa with a big smile: Sorry
Gangster: Which gang are you from?
Theresa: Er, no. This is noodles. I am ‘Chai Gei’
Dayo holds up the basket: Food delivery..we’re here to deliver food.
TVB You're Hired Episode 3
Gangster2: Missy, can you not see we’re busy here?
Theresa: But my noodles will go soggy.
Gangster: Ok..can you just go then?
*The gangsters make way for the two to go up stairs into a building, and then continue bashing each other XD*

Overview and Thoughts
*Contains some spoilers*

I went to see the movie last night and thought it was pretty cool!! Haven’ t seen a HK movie in Aussie cinemas for a long time. I went up to the counter and I’m like..”I’d like tickets to ‘Laughing- gor” (It sounded a bit awkward lol!! Would have been easier to say “Turning Point” Movie please ^^)

I think it’d be quite different watching this movie as a standalone movie, and one as the prequel to E.U. Watching it from the perspective of E.U. prequel, I like how there were references from the series (e.g the coin).

They’ve also mixed in similar ideas from E.U- mainly the latter bit in the series where everyone gets killed…

Like E.U how they mentioned the police force sends a lot of undercovers; and many either die – identity revealed, or get shot by their own police members (like Laughing Gor in EU, Kenny Wong in Turning Point) without them evening knowing- or what the police fear the most- undercovers turning into real gangsters.

But as it is also a standalone movie- and Laughing’s character being a bit different from the series; the story does not directly link to E.U. Laughing, is not the same Laughing in E.U- his intentions are different- the one in the series never had doubts about his identity and his intentions were clear- he was a cop. In the movie however, I’m slightly confused in what he was actually doing lol Did he start out wanting to be a gangster and follow Anthony Wong because he saved him and he looked up to him? When he was sent to be an undercover, and the police sent him back as an undercover- what was he really trying to achieve? I saw Laughing as a good guy though so this part kind of confuses me ^^

Storyline put aside, I really liked watching Anthony and Francis XD One was cool, the other was funny and entertaining to watch! Anthony looked great with the makeup~ rather stylish I must say haha I also enjoyed watching Francis and Fala’s sibling relationship~ it was very touching… and sad they had to end that way. Seeing the TVB actors in it was also quite awesome~ Fala Chen (Francis’ sister), Koni Lui (Anthony’s gf), Tracy Yip(Lawyer), Johnson Lee (traitor), Wayne Lai( Cop- yuck, didn’t like him at all), Kenny Wong(undercover) and of course, the cameo appearance of Ron and Sammul!! LOL (I loved that part at the end XD) Wish we got to see more of them hehe

Finally, a scene which left me thinking. Near the end of the movie, we are once again shown the flashback of where Laughing follows Anthony Wong out of the convenient store.. We still see the shoe left behind by the robbers. As the two walk out; a police officer walks pass them and the scene is frozen there. Were they trying to imply that the police/justice will eventually win in the end? Or imply that if the police had came by sooner and saved Michael- he may have been a police instead of following the bad side?

[You’re Hired] Episode 2

Charmaine goes to find Dayo, demanding he return the debt.

Charmaine: Return the money.
Dayo: Are you crazy? I used a whole day to explain to you; when it’s due, I will  consider how much and whether I want to repay or not.
Charmaine: I’m doing this for your own good. The earlier you pay, the less interest you’ll have to pay. You have money to give ‘Mo Lin’, you don’t have money to return to me? You’re obviously fooling with me.
Dayo: Are you doing this for my own good?
Charmaine: Yes I am- you better quickly repay
Dayo: Well I don’t like people doing things for my own good.
Charmaine: No don’t go there, are you going to repay or not? I know you have money to pay her so- let me check-*starts searching his clothes*
Dayo: What’s my relationship with her? What’s my relationship with you?
Suddenly, a voice interrupts them.

Charmaine and Dayo in You're Hired- Episode 2

Granny: He really doesn’t have any money.

*The granny walks up to them holding Dayo’s bank book with a smilie face*

Granny: His whole life saving is only $53.

*When Charmaine wanted to check out the book, Dayo snatches it off the Granny.*

Dayo: How come you went to find my bank book?
Granny: I went to find a spoon.
Dayo: You went to my room to find a spoon?
Granny: Yea!
Dayo: So..did you find it?
Granny: yea! *points to the book*
Dayo: You want to get a spoon to eat the congee?
Granny: yea!
Dayo: Ok, go to the kitchen, there’s a few there. It’s clean, go eat congee.
*While Dayo leads the granny to the right direction, Charmaine snatches the book off him and checks out his savings*
Charmaine: Are you crazy?? You really gave all your money to ‘Mo Lin’?
The two continue to argue on for a bit until suddenly, the granny reappears behind Dayo again, staring at him.

Charmaine and Dayo in You're Hired- Episode 2
Dayo: Betty, did you find the spoon for congee yet?
Granny: I recognise you! You made my ‘Ma-Jai’ die! You made my son die!
Charmaine and Dayo in You're Hired- Episode 2

Dayo: You finished eating your ‘Mai-jai’? I’ll help you find again. *Dayo quickly attempts to shut the door on Charmaine, but she pushes it back opened.*
Charmaine: No- seems like you…caused someone’s sons death *points to Granny*
Granny: No, I said he’s really good; just like my son : ) I really love him, he’s a good boy.
Dayo anxious expression loosened and appeared relieved.
Dayo to Charmaine: Did you hear now? *quickly shuts her out*

Charmaine and Dayo in You're Hired- Episode 2

(lol…love Charmaine’s expressions XD The granny’s pretty funny too. This scene just made me more curious to find out what Dayo exactly did to his mentor (Granny Betty’s son) one year ago…)
