[Born Rich] Gallen & Anita Scene 2

Episode 4– Their second Encounter- a promise?

At a shopping centre back in Hong Kong, Gallen sees Anita from afar.

While Anita is walking around, she bumps into a big bunch of helium balloon which were blocking her path. Moving the balloons aside…

Anita: It’s you..?
Gallen: Surprise, isn’t it?

Born Rich TVB Gallen and Anita
Anita: I was startled because I was scared. What are you doing at Hong Kong?
Gallen: Hong Kong is a shopping heaven, of course I’m shopping here.
Anita: Shopping? Buying balloons so you can kidnap little kids?
Gallen: You don’t look like a kid no matter how I look it.
Anita: So you want to kidnap me again? Do you think I’ll be that dumb again?
Gallen releases the helium balloons and the two watch them fly away.
Gallen: I think I’ve explained it quite well last time, I had no other choice..To show my apologises, I’ve given you a present without your consent *points to her bag*
Anita finds a box inside her bag.
Anita: When did you put it in there? This is no different  from stealing. *Gallen shrugs*

Anita: You wouldn’t be so nice to buy me back my diamond watch would you?
Anita opens the box to find it is empty.
Anita: What are you playing this time?

[Born Rich] Gallen & Anita Scene 1

As many of you may already know, I adore the Anita and Gallen pairing in Born Rich <3 .I loved their  chemistry from their first encounter and I wanted to see more of them. Their few, yet every encounter always had a romantic element in it  ^^ I don’t know how this couple will turn out in the later episodes but as of now, I’m pretty happy with what I see XD

To cut this short and sweet, I’ll be doing some mini recaps of some of their scenes together.

Feel free to discuss the scene! (no other spoilers please 🙂 )

Episode 2

Moses notices a lolly placed next to the “medicine”. Mary’s servant says Charmaine gave it, telling them they can drink the medicine at ease. The  lolly will sweeten any bitterness. Based on Charmaine’s words, he realises the medicine isn’t poisoned. He drinks it in relief and tells Mary to do the same. He was right! It is revealed that Charmaine intercepted the  two cups and had changed them before they reached Mary. Phew…

Moses and Charmaine Beyond the Realm of Conscience

As a result, Susan and Edwin are convinced they really are infected with the illness. The two are finally sent out of the palace! As Moses is sitting inside the carriage once again, he thinks back to Charmaine; and the first time she gave a lolly to him. He peers out of his carriage but she no where to be seen. He really does miss her. Charmaine is elsewhere, standing by the turtle’s grave, wishing Moses and Mary has a happy and safe life outside the Palace. Aw… I still really like this pairing!

Moses and Charmaine Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Meanwhile, Kevin approaches her, and gives her a gift. Since Moses is out of the Palace, the one person Kevin worries most about is Charmaine. He hopes this scent holder can keep her safe and healthy. Kevin is constantly mesmerized by Charmaine, and the two feel a strong attraction between them.

Kevin and Charmaine Beyond the Realm of Conscience

However, as Kevin and Charmaine’s relationship grow to a new level, they are both taken aback by the expectations of those within the Palace. Kevin’s father was accused of having an affair with a servant and was almost kept imprisoned! Luckily Kevin hastily found out the truth behind the affair, and his father is able to redeem himself. This incident was a reality check for both Charmaine and Kevin, who become disappointed that they potentially cannot be together… How will their relationship turn out?

Susanna talks to Tavia privately by the well. She comforts her, telling her she knows who works hard, and the pain people go through. She will definitely give opportunities to those who put their heart into their work. However, it turns out Susanna somehow knew Tavia was the one who backstabbed June! Tavia is shocked by this knowledge but keeps her composure. Did Charmaine tell? (I kind of doubt it, but it’s probably the first thing Tavia thought). She assures Susanna Charmaine is her best friend, and will never do anything  to hurt her. It feels like Susanna only spoke to her because she was worried about Charmaine, moreso than here to comfort her.

Tavia and Susanna confront Beyond the Realm of Conscience

The confrontation is followed by a slightly eerie scene, with Tavia filled with jealousy and bitterness in her eyes. She helps Charmaine dress up in her new outfit and tries really hard to smile and be happy for her. However, once Charmaine leaves the room, tears pour out of her eyes uncontrollably. She looks around at the large room which could have been hers. She forces herself to smile, wiping away her tears while telling herself Charmaine is her best friend and she is suppose to be happy for her. aww..I feel sorry for her.. 🙁

Tavia cries Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Moses is alone in the forest practicing martial arts Kevin has been teaching him. He suddenly hears a voice crying for help and looks around to see Charmaine! Her foot was caught in a trap, and a very concerned Moses comes to her aid. He talks to her in a very serious manner (being his true self), and Charmaine starts finding it odd.. He frees her from the trap, and while bandaging her leg, he suddenly realises he forgot he was supposed to be “dumb”! He concentrated so hard in saving her that nothing else was in his mind. Charmaine smiles cheekily, indicating she’s found out the truth. He continues to be his serious self and carries her on his back. Aww..so sweet…

In [Beyond the Realm of Conscience] episode 7, the story continues to heat up! We start to see another side of  Tavia.. a side which was probably always hidden deeply within her.

Mandy, Susanna and Michelle Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Mandy Cho, a concubine candidate for the Emperor seeks help from Michelle and Susanna. She hopes they can make her stand out amongst the other girls by creating a remarkable outfit and jewellery. However, they reveal many other girls have also done the same thing (and have paid a lot more money). Mandy is extremely saddened but is persistent. She has been in the Palace for 8 years and has never had the opportunity to even lay eyes on the Emperor. If she doesn’t grab his attention now, she will wither away and grow old with no sense of worthiness. Seeing Mandy’s very pitiful background, the two agree to see what they can do for her.

For this project, Tavia and Charmaine were put in charge of creating the pieces for Mandy. June, Susanna’s assistant; becomes jealous over her choice of Tavia.

Tavia

One night, Tavia discovers June sneakily in her room replacing her make-up! Tavia walks in on her and June is absolutely terrified by her discovery. June intended to replace the make-up with one that would infect Tavia’s face, making her ugly. She admits she wasn’t thinking properly, fueled by her jealousy of Tavia who she saw as a threat. She begs Tavia not to tell Susanna and promises she will never bully her again. Tavia tells her she will forgive her if she wiped some of the infected make-up on her own finger. June is relieved and upon printing her finger on it, promptly leaves the room.

Tavia and June Beyond the Realm of Conscience

The next morning however, Tavia’s face is all red and infected! She immediately dobs June in for intentionally harming her! June is absolutely horrified by Tavia’s backstabbing, but no one believed her claim. Her own finger was infected; evidence she was handling with the make-up. Susanna is extremely angry and sends June out of the Palace Proceedings. As June is seen leaving with a backpack, an extremely amused Tavia approaches her. The two confront and Tavia happily expresses out how pitiful her current state is. The truth is unveiled between them through exchange of bitter dialogue. Just when Tavia leaves, she discovers Charmaine standing there, who heard the entire conversation! :O

I just finished watching Beyond the Realm of Conscience episodes 4- 6 and I’m happy to say- wow! It is completely mind blowing!!

After completing episode 6, I’m not surprised it peaked at 41 points in HK. This episode rivaled many TVB finales! There were many moments which left me teary, in suspense, and extremely touched. I owe this all to Susanna and Michelle. Their relationship, conflict and resolution was very well put together. I loved watching them so so much! I remember thinking during episode 4-5 that they were a bit bland and Michelle was even on the brink of being annoying. My views have since completely changed.

Thanks to those reading/following my episode summaries and thoughts so far 🙂 In this post, I will go over specific scenes which left an impression on me, as well as my thoughts on the various characters. These thoughts may change as the story progresses. Well, let’s get started!

Charmaine as 劉三好 Lau Sam-ho

I watched Charmaine a little skeptical; thinking, how can she be so optimistic? Does her motto ring true in life? Can you really just do your part, help everyone you can and everything will be fine? Surely she has it better than Tavia, right? She has two handsome young men head over heels in love with her- who always come to her rescue. (Okay, maybe they’re not in love with her yet so to speak, but I think you get the general idea XD) I wondered, if she experienced the same things Tavia did, will she feel the same way? Would she still always act on good intentions? Upon looking closely, she doesn’t have it all that easy either. She’s made enemy with The head of army…and that in itself is pretty nasty! If it wasn’t for her gracious nature, she wouldn’t have people wanting to help her in the first place. I guess she deserves all the attention she does. It will be interesting watching her deal with obstacles and how she uses her head to overcome them.

Moses and Charmaine Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Charmaine helps Moses in a pinch, and Moses saving Charmaine from the Head of Army’s evil doing.

Kevin as 高顯揚 Go Hin-yeung

I haven’t watched many TVB series with Kevin in it, and where he was, I admit I was never a fan of him. His characters seemed rather bland or they forcefully try to make him “cool”.  However, I tried to look at his character  in a fresh, unbiased view. I don’t really mind him too much at the moment. He’s pleasant to look at and has done his part of helping Charmaine in times of need. He seems to be your typical sensible good guy. This quality in itself instantly makes him compatible with Charmaine. I hope there will be more chemistry though.. I don’t understand the hype between Kevin and Charmaine, but maybe there will be more focus on them in the future. Why do people ship this pairing so much? o_o;? I really don’t know..XD

Kevin and Charmaine Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Charmaine & Kevin develop a friendship with Ben- a Japanese chess player after gaining his respect.

Moses as 李怡 Lee Yi

Moses is still lovingly adorable since episode 2. I’m glad Moses gets to play such a fun character since he pulls it off so well. I can’t think of any reason to dislike him. We really start to see the advantages he has being “dumb”. He doesn’t need to make excuses for doing the things he does. He can safely move around the palace and be unsuspecting. It’s quite a relief, really! He has helped out both Charmaine and Tavia time and time again.

The official nominations listing is finally out!!

My  first reaction is “wow…”  lol I can see why they decided to extend the nominations list to 15 this year XD From a quick look I can see all the leads in Born Rich, Beyond the Realm of Conscience and The Gem of Life with sprinkles from E.U and Rosy Business!

~K for TVB‘s voting poll is now up~

**You can only vote once and will not be able to change your answers. You can vote up to three people in each category (must be done all at once though) The ticks are my own preferences ^^

As I have not watched all the series, my preferences are a bit bias.  Series which I have not watched include: DIE Again, Page of treasures, Off Pedar, Beyond the Realm of Conscience. As I have not seen Beyond and have only started Born Rich , I did not really vote for them yet…(I’m sure they’ll be awesome!) Shall update my choices as I go along hopefully ^^

Best Actor

At first glance, the  two that definitely stood out are Wayne Lai and Dayo Wong =D I believe this year should be Wayne’s year. I can’t imagine anyone else perform ‘Chau Gao’ as awesome as him. It was absolutely impressive! While it may be too early to judge (haven’t seen much of Born Rich), I currently vote for him! Dayo is a great actor and comedian~ while I love him a lot, I do not believe the award will go to him simply because he is not under TVB management. Nevertheless, I would love to see him in top 5! Other than Born Rich males, I really enjoyed Bowie’s Performance in The Gem of Life. While many of the nominees here I commend, I slightly disagree seeing Bosco on the nomination list (and not too much of a fan of Bride for a Ride- Sorry Chin Ka Lok!)

Best Actress

Now this category is HARD! lol The competition here is more intense..with so many more strong female leads, who will take home the award? We have the 3 sisters from Gem of Life, 2 leads in Beyond, and 3 female leads in Born Rich Grand Productions plus Sheren Tang! I must say it’s quite hard for me to choose =X Nevertheless, I was quite impressed with Sheren and Ada’s performances. I hope to see them in top 5 for sure! As foe the lovely 5 ladies on the bottom row..will just have to wait and see!

Best Supporting Actor

My vote goes to Michael for sure XD He is the most awesome, especially in E.U! I do hope he takes home this award ^^ I also like  Kenneth Ma in Born Rich- he is just so cute there ~ (though maybe that itself should fit in a different category lol)

Best Supporting Actress

Having the stronger competition for Best Female, the supporting actress nominees are just as intense lol (Mainly referring to the top row and bottom row). As I have not watched Beyond, I’ll save my vote for later. I would like to commend Linda’s performance in Gem of Life though! Hopefully she can place in top 5!

My Favourite TV Male Character

My two favourites go to Laughing Gor and Mak Tai Song ^^ Need I explain more? haha I don’t know who the third one will be..Wayne Lai in Rosy Business? Michael Miu from EU? Gallen from Born Rich (depending how he turns out lol) ? Kenny Wong was quite sweet in Gem of Life too ( I did not like Terrance (Moses) – thought he’d be better nominated for his role in Beyond since I heard he was quite quite and likable) I also really like Steven Ma in Sweetness in the Salt. There’s really only the “bigger” ones who will have a chance to will though.

My Favourite TV Female  Character

The first thing I noticed was Gigi not been nominated with her other ‘s sister from Gem’. I’m glad…lol Her character was so frustrating to watch in Gem! My instant favourite went to Anita from Born Rich. I don’t know what exactly it is, but I really like her there lol I don’t think she will win though ^^; And wow, Charmaine nominated twice! I quite liked her character in “When Easterly Showers falls on Sunny West” too~ she seems to be getting likable characters to play!

**For Most Improved, you can only vote for one (since there’s only 5 nominees)

Most Improved Actor

Hmm..not feel much for this category. I haven’t seen the two from Off Pedar. Johnson Lee was ok (I rather him as BT though). I like Raymond Wong so I voted for him, but Pierre quite deserves it as well. We’ll just have to see.

[Born Rich] Themesong Lyrics & Translations

TVB Gallen Lo- Born Rich

TVB Born Rich Lyrics

On the Verge of Eternity (Themesong to Born Rich)- Gallen Lo (CD Version)

English Translations by KTVB Please credit k-tvb.net if re-posted. Thanks! : )

Chasing, Rushing, Pushing, Bumping into
Considers everyone and everything, ideal is burnt out
Real,  fake, fallen before, hurt before
Love’s sparks have given me wish and hope

Dark sky, bright sky, clear sky, gray sky
Once accompanied together, secretly yearned for
Pity that this night, fireworks have stopped, no way of looking up to it
*On the verge of believing in  Eternity
Only fallen short one step, desire for illusion turns into star light
Who with whom  lives in  love, who with whom buries love
Where are the heavens?

If I am scared, it will be because of disappointment
The rest I have no vain
All the consequences are completely cut away
Heart/ blood (efforts) all leaked away

Erase the fear, tear away the rarity
Only when you forget love,  can you swim to shore
In my life, can’t forge out the cause and effect
Truth and false like floating clouds, the sky is also watching

Repeat *

Comments: When I first heard this song, it gave me a similar feeling to Hacken Lee’s Dicey Business themesong. I loved it! It has a grand production feel to it and at the same time, it gave off a sad feeling…I really pitied the character…
