Synopsis

LEUNG HAU-CHI (Ada Choi), a career woman in her 30s, has all the attributes of a typical Hong Kong girl – fussy, arrogant and easily irritated by the sight of beautiful young ladies. She is desperate for love and has been eagerly waiting for the thrilling miracles of life. As CHI is plunged into misery and despair, something strange happens and leads to her abrupt transformation into a superwoman of charm and immense strength. Every time CHI mutates, she is equipped with extraordinary powers, through which she fights for justice and helps the weak, joyously exploring and experiencing a dazzling kaleidoscope of adventures. Along the way, she is happy to have met three nice men, namely the brave yet traditional policeman YEUNG HO-YIN (Kenny Wong), the good-natured gentleman turned nouveau-riche businessman TSU WING-FAI (Raymond Cho), and the super-talented genius KAN MING-HIN (Moses Chan). Fortuitously, HIN is in love with CHI in both her usual and mutated states, leaving her stranded on the horns of a dilemma.

It is always hard to be plain and perfect at the same time. Despite the extraordinary powers she has, CHI is unable to get out of the maze of love. How is CHI going to handle it all? What more perfect choice could there be for her?

Such cruelty!! Arghhh!! Tavia only had her 4 children left, yet Dominic did not let her off as Tavia wrote letters to the government in hope they could bring justice to her parent’s death. He sent people to cause trouble at the Martial Arts school/home, damaging the place, destroying her fathers ‘words’, beating up Tavia and threatening to attack her children.

A Fistful of Stances- Episode 6

He later came with a crowd of police and “doctors”, all picking on one woman! They started accusing her that she has gone crazy and messed up her home herself.

They tied her up and forced her to go to the mental hospital! Tavia was helpless- she was scared she’ll never see her children again. She pleaded them to let her go and that she’ll never mention Dominic’s crimes ever again. aww….Poor Tavia!!

A Fistful of Stances- Episode 6

I hate Dominic so much!! He is SO cruel!! He won’t even let her off after killing her family, and stealing her father’s medicine formula.. :<

Episode 5 ended very emotionally!  Yuen Qiu refuses to take the operation, despite being in immense pain and  her life was at stake. Her children kept pleading her but she stood very firmly at her decision and refused to listen to them.

She finally reveals at the end of the episode..

A Fistful of Stances Episode 5

In the year her husband went missing after saving baby Kenneth back, Tavia was riding her bike to treat her patients (to earn money for the family despite being pregnant with twins). An accident occurred where she was hit and Tavia was brought to the hospital. While semi-unconscious, she overhears the doctors saying they’ll need to do an operation to retrieve the baby twins out in hope to save them or else the babies will die along with Tavia.

At that moment Tavia prayed and pleaded to God to give her one more chance. She couldn’t leave now- she still had 4 children to look after and have yet to find her eldest son back. She pleaded to let her live until Kenneth turns 28 so they could all at least look after themselves. A miracle occurred and Tavia was able to wake up along with her twins beside her 🙂

This year, Kenneth turns 28 and she once again had to face an operation.  She felt it was God who is here to take her life away as she had promised and that she won’t be able to wake up this time.

A Fistful of Stances Episode 5

The words Kenneth gave were so emotional. “You haven’t completed your duties yet” ” Do you have so much time on your hand to guess what God is thinking? How do you know God won’t give you a second chance?  Since their mother still refused to take the operation, Kenneth lead the rest of the sibling to swear all the worst things that could happen to them if God will let their mother live. Kenneth was willing to give up his life at 29 and  Natalie swore she will no longer be able to stay in the family and become lonely for the rest of her life.

Yuen Qiu finally could not bear seeing her children do that to themselves anymore and made them all stop. She finally agreed to take the operation!! :D  So touching!!

I LOVE Kenneth!! As each episode progressed, I’ve fallen in love with his character more and more! Everything about him is so likable. I like how brotherly he is and how he takes care of the entire family. He is always there for those around him and we often see very touching scenes and speeches from him. He’s very witty and quick-thinking, solving many of the problems his family encounters. Even if the world was falling down on him, he would not give up and remained focused, persistence and courageous. He’s also really fun to watch and I love his chemistry with Selena 😀 GO KENNETH!!

Cast your vote!

I probably should have moved Shirley and Stephen to this poll too XD A couple of supporting casts appear near the end fo the series, so please refrain from voting until you’ve seen them all (to be fair ^^)

My favourite supporting has got to go to Ram- he’s fun to watch XD It was good fun watching Ram and Kenneth’s interactions when Kenneth tried to delay making payments. Despite Ram being very powerful, he listens to everything (well, most) of what his wife (Angela) says. The most important thing is he’s a good guy 🙂 and was willing to stand up against his wife for Kevin. Falling closely behind is Kara and Uncle Cheung! I absolutely loved the confrontational scene between Kara and Yuen Qiu and then later on revealing the “truth” to help Natalie, but mainly for the sake of her children.

I love watching the bond between the family- the series  really reminds me of Moonlight Resonance.

Yuen Qiu reminds me of HorMa who has 6 children, one who is adopted (i.e Natalie). One woman, suffering a sad tragic past, namely the separation of her family and bringing up the children herself. She also has a brother, who reminds me of SaYi where he can get quite annoying, but at other times is closely bonded with the family.

The family would share a lot of  fun,”silly” moments and laughter and really sad touching moments, but the importance is the bond between them, and how they are brought closer together each time.

A Fistful of Stances Episode 3

I loved the scene where the siblings were trying to convince “Ah Leung” to come home before their mother would find out.  Touching words from Kenneth and Natalie.

I can’t wait until the family gets back together (reuniting with their long lost brother), and fighting back against Dominic and his family.

The two following parts were my favourite scenes in episode 1. They made me all teary and it really gained my sympathy for the characters :<

A Fistful of Stances- Episode 1

A helpless pregnant woman holds an umbrella and walks in the rain at night in hope to search for her two kidnapped sons. Her parents have been murdered and her husband goes missing after going to find the murderer.

A Fistful of Stances- Episode 1

All Tavia has left is her children…unfortunately she was not able to save her eldest son :< Poor Tavia!!

***

The other sad moment I found was when Tavia’s father was telling off “Pai Jeung” from stuffing-up the lion dancing because he got too nervous. His words were so harsh and he trashed him like he was worthless!! He really tried though!! All he wanted was to prove himself worthy and to show his wife and son his performance. I felt so sorry him ~ and he subsequently wanted to leave. It was touching to see Tavia’s father accept him back and taught him another fighting technique.

A Fistful of Stances- Episode 1

I have a feeling this series is going to be one of those really emotional, heart-felt series- looking forward to seeing more of it!
