As I am really busy during this period and do not have enough time to spend on this blog, I’ll be jotting down my thoughts on the TVB series as quick scribbles. This will ensure you’ll get more regular updates from me :) Apologies for the draft-ness of my upcoming posts. Hope you guys enjoy what I have to share! [Contains spoilers]

Growing Through Life

  • After finding out Raymond was his son, Damian made a really good deal with Raymond- promising not to close his father’s factory indefinitely in condition that Raymond went to work for him at the marketing department. Soon, Raymond brings Bosco into the company with him.
  • Damian tried very hard to reconcile his relationship with Raymond and the two started to grow to understand each other. At first Raymond found it kind of suspicious but through these episodes, their relationship improved a lot and it was comforting to see the father-son get along with each other so well.
  • I felt the story was going downhill during these episodes as I watched Bosco slowly changing and turning ‘evil’. I often felt bad for him and I could  see why he was getting more and more bitter… ok- maybe Damien can see through to the “real” Bosco so he has always been so harsh etc towards him in hope to “tame” him, but I can’t help to think Damien is the one who is causing Bosco to change!  I can feel Bosco’s pain… Damian is pretty much turning Bosco to the way he says he is -.-
  • Poor Bosco! I know Bosco has a bit of an ego, but I think it’s a healthy amount. He genuinely does his best to help Raymond and the company yet gets blamed again and again. He puts in a lot of effort in his work yet Raymond gets the credit and when something goes wrong- only he gets the blame. It’s so unfair! Damian thinks he knows what everyone is thinking and wants to control everyones’ lives.
  • I felt the worst for Bosco during his birthday- he started out so hopeful because he has feelings for Ziqi (Lai Ging) and thought she was buying the watch for him and asked him out to dinner, yet gets disappointed when he realises the watch was actually for Raymond. On the same day, he gets sacked by Damian and he has to listen to all the accusations etc. Clearly Damian was being bias and thought Bosco was pursuing Toby because she was rich (which was clearly not true!- at this point anyway) And to be honest, I think he was quite disappointed with the present Raymond and his dad made him- I know it was a thoughtful present and they put a lot of effort into creating it for him but I don’t think he’s into that kinda stuff- I mean…a heater? I also find it strange that Raymond didn’t even tell Toby and Ziqi that it was Bosco’s birthday…

Can't Buy Me Love

Synopsis

Reluctant to marry into the Tibetan royal family, the wilful Princess CHIU YEUNG (Charmaine Sheh) has to find herself a husband as soon as possible. Owner of a gold store TING LOI-HEI (Susanna Kwan) recommends her second and third sons, KAM DOR-LUK (Moses Chan) and KAM DOR-SHAU (Raymond Wong) to the Princess, hoping that the royal marriage would bring them out of financial crisis and somehow save their family business.

Not wanting his brother to sacrifice for the family, DOR-LUK offers to marry the Princess himself. Shortly after the marriage, YEUNG begins to show her true self. She needs the KAMs to treat and respect her as a distinguished princess instead of a family member. Even the spiritual leader of the family Granny KAM (Lee Heung Kam) is not spared.

YEUNG’s handmaiden SZETO NGAN-PING (Fala Chen) is a haughty young woman who has no regard for anyone, not even the government matchmaker TING YAU-WAI (Kenneth Ma). The KAMs cannot put up with YEUNG anymore and decide ally and fight back. But to everyone’s surprise, NG SZ-TAK (Linda Chung), the most vigorous maid of the family takes YEUNG’s side and goes against the KAMs.

After back and forth bickering, LUK and YEUNG are on the verge of breaking up for the third time. The matter is drawn to the attention of the royal family and finally settled by Emperor TAIZONG. Marrying the Princess is supposed to bring LUK wealth and honour, but all that glitters is not always gold, especially when the bride is such a self-willed shrew.

Growing Through Life Bosco, Song Wen Fei & Zhao Ziqi

  • I have to get this out off my chest first…omg..I seriously could not stand watching Song Wen Fei (who plays Raymond’s fiancee “Yiu Kwan”) in these 5 episodes. She is so so so selfish I can’t emphasise enough…. I don’t care if there’s no “right or wrong when it comes to love“. To me, everything she did was so selfish. After all they’ve gone through- Raymond is suddenly “no one” to her and she breaks up with him- calling off their wedding. She is only “grateful” towards him, nothing else. She realised that she can’t lie to herself anymore and she will never accept Raymond because she “can’t stand marrying someone she does not love”. It makes me wonder what’s so good about her that both Raymond and Bosco like her for. Wen Fei continued to actively pursue Bosco despite getting rejected again and again. She even went to the extreme of hurting Raymond even more by revealing the man she could not let go of was his best friend Bosco (in hope Bosco wouldn’t suppress his feelings towards her)>< ARGGGHH I hope she doesn’t end up with anyone in the end (hehe) Looks like she’s going overseas~ hopefully this means we won’t hear from her for a while XD I seriously do not sympathise with her at all and she was a mess to watch.
  • The confrontation scene where Raymond finds out that Bosco was the “cause” of the wedding failure wasn’t as painful to watch as it could have been lol 9that’s a good thing) Clearly Wen Fei did not care about anyone but herself- her selfish act of hurting Bosco and Raymond’s relationship, and cutting Raymond even more was unforgivable! She also made Raymond hurt Bosco- does she really think Bosco will end up with her after all that? I’m glad Zhao Ziqi was there to defend for Bosco and quickly cleared Raymond’s misunderstanding. Wen Fei was in a rush to blurb everything out and then says “Don’t blame Linus (Bosco), blame me” to Raymond. I’m just glad that in the end, it did not affect Bosco and Raymond’s friendship.
  • I loved how Bosco told her to go away when she ran over to him and walked away with Ziqi- his action clearly showed he was not interested in her and just wanted her to stop bothering him. I’m just glad she’s out of Raymond’s life and that he won’t have anymore false hope.
  • I really like Bosco ‘s character!! I love how caring he is towards everyone around him. I also loved the way he handled the situation with Wen Fei and clearly told her that he does not/will never love her. He kept his distance from Wen Fei and tried to mend Raymond and Wen Fei’s relationship when she broke up with Raymond. He ended up using Ziqi and kissed her in front of Wen Fei to make her think she was his girlfriend XD (Poor Ziqi though- he stole her first kiss lol). I really like the bond he shares with his father (Dominic) and his friendship with both Toby and Ziqi.

Hi guys,

As some of you may have noticed, K-TVB.net’s server was down for most of this week and was not accessible. This was due to excessive bandwidth theft and streaming/hot linking from external sites. As a result, I was forced to delete all songs uploaded on my site. I still haven’t decided whether to close off the download section or if I should even bother to reupload them on a different server. It all comes down to whether it’s worth it. It has been a frustrating week but at least the blog is up and running again 🙂 Thanks chibi for helping out in resolving the issue.

Susanna Kwan, Michael Tse and Joe Ma

Something positive though, I finally saw the ad on TVBJ for this year’s Sydney TVB Jadeworld Carnival!! Susanna Kwan, Michael Tse and Joe Ma will be coming to Sydney!!  It’s due to happen on 11 September 2010 @ Carrs Park- Kogarah (like last year), 11am-4pm.  So Sydney fans, be sure to mark that date on your calender! Looking forward to meet Laughing-Gor and Susanna Kwan ^^

Will be putting up my next set of Growing through life thoughts soon. Stay tuned! 🙂 And Happy Election Day for fellow Aussies lol

Raymond Lam in Growing Through Life TVB

  • Raymond’s character reminds me of his role in Moonlight Resonance. The sweet kind-natured guy that everyone loves (He even wears a similar style checkered shirt). Family and morals are the most important things to him and he believe people should be steady and not take shortcuts. I felt really sorry for him from Episode 1 when he was trying so hard to run his father’s business and protect it from his evil Uncle. Based on the trailer’s I’ve seen, it looks as though Raymond’s character will suffer a lot more- facing many betrayals from his loved ones..bound to be a lot of tears! I’m already fearing what will happen to this poor guy, but looking forward to his growth and maturity as he “grows through life”. As he faces all the challenges in life, its not had to predict he may end up losing himself in the process. Guess we’ll just have to watch more to see.
  • At first I thought Damien would play Raymond’s father. Then I found out I was wrong- he played Raymond’s greedy Uncle. The families are in bad terms with each other ( Damien towards Raymond and his mother) and it was frustrating to watch the first two episodes when we saw how far he pushed Raymond to a corner for his own greedy business desires. It had to be for a reason- and it seemed pretty obvious that he was jealous and hated his brother -Raymond’s father (who had passed away). It’s indeed interesting seeing Damien take on this role- it’s a bit different to his usual. When Raymond’s mother mentioned to Damien about him owing her, or she and Raymond’s father doing something wrong to him in the past, I was thinking “did Raymond’s mother use to go out with Damien? Don’t tell me Raymond is actually Damien’s son…” In episode 4, the first part was revealed. Looking at the hints from Raymond’s mother’s flashback and opening sequence, I have a feeling my latter thought may also be true too…
  • Raymond’s fiancee is quite pretty and I was surprised when she was speaking Cantonese (own voice without dubbing ^^) It may be her face expression but I keep getting the impression she’s sad most of the time. Even though I didn’t know her character that well in episode 1, I was disappointed that she let her brother betray Raymond =X
  • Bosco’s character is rather cool. He’s quite smart, fun and caring. I really like watching his appearance. Clearly he is a lot more business orientated and intelligent compared to Raymond.  I’m really happy he is here to help Raymond in his family business- going against Damian. Raymond would be so lost without his help as Bosco often comes up with most of the resolutions. Unfortunately for this reason, I really fear when he betrays Raymond and becomes ruthless. You can tell he’s someone who is very competitive and can achieve much more. For many years, Bosco’s father constantly compared him to Raymond. While he may not show it now, I fear somewhere inside him, he will not stay loyal towards Raymond. I can see he far exceeds Raymond’s ability to run a business. Maybe I’ve seen too many trailers..I should enjoy “good” Bosco now while I can hehe
