Currently up to episode 22- where its starting to show the 4th Generation, so I think this would be a good time to put up a post ^^ (first one of Maiden’s Vow);
For up to the story so far, I think my view on this series has fluctuated a bit. Sometimes I think its ok, while some other times I just didn’t feel like watching it. But I don’t think it is one I would recommend to anyone..
I watch it mainly because its during dinner time, so might as well watch something ^^; Not particuluarly a fan of Joe Ma or Charmaine Sheh but was hoping for a good storyline. When I first saw the trailor I thought this series looked quite good lol I thought it was romance story, and each generation was gonna be like the next life of Charmine and Joe (sorta like a love story for 4 generations before they can finally be together, i.e they don’t end up together in the earlier 3 generations) but I guess not XD Joe Ma’s character are different people that just happen to look alike XD Ah wells…mm..what else~
For 1st generation, I didn’t really see where the story was going. Charmaine ends up marrying Sammual and Joe sticks aound. Sammual continues becoming an idiot and doesn’t end up learning his lesson (taking on drugs, being with that other girl again, getting jealous over nothing and doesn’t seem to see what a perfect wife Charmaine is – geez she gave up everything to keep the family running ). Sammual plays a character who is totally useless, yet claims to be getting all the credit for the success of the business. Charmaine should have just left with Joe when she had the chance~ seriously…even her parents told her to go back to them. I guess it was cos Sammual’s father asked her too. Did everyone have to die/injured like that though? Just seems to fake..and over-dramamtic. The story was getting messy…I was trying to look to the possiblity of how they were gonna end the first generation but Charmaine had to have a daughter first. Sammual disappears..no one has hear of him since, and Charmaine and Joe’s characters die in a train explosion.
2nd generation was teacher and student relationship between Joe and Charmaine. Should give credit to Charmaine as I could imagine her playing a role of a different person, but once she eloped with Joe (and seemingly a long time ago) when she grew her hair, couldn’t imagine her being the same person as before xD That got even more messy when they were working, and how they got involved with the Japanese people. That guy being a fake doctor, sleeping with Charmaine’s friend, taking revenge .. And that women who had a blind mother. I sorta reckon Charmaine did get rapped by that fake-doctor guy, even though Joe said he stopped it from happening. It doesn’t convince me.I don’t like how it was all set out. It was getting unwatchable. When I first started watching the 3rd generation, I couldn’t stand it lol The way they acted (exaggerated), and their accent ..clothing styles..the 60s…*shakes head* but after a episode I think I’ve gotten used to it, and thought the 3rd generation was perhaps quite funny to watch.
Last night’s episode , there was a bit on the 4th generation and I couldn’t get used to them talking normal lol They sound sorta weird ~ lol and Joe Ma is finally more decent looking XD What a neat way to end that episode though =P
I hope this 4th generation would be better than the others!
This series seems to be very popular (been browsing around the net and mostly heard good comments- sometimes a lot more than I reckon it deserves, but that’s just my taste (no offense to anyone) ~) I wouldn’t call it one of “must see” category *shrugs*

After the end of Face to Fate airing in Australia on satellite TV, I was wondering whether I should watch Land of Wealth.
Currently showing:
7:15pm: Maiden’s Vow [Episode 22]
8:30pm: Land of Wealth [ Episode 3]

11:40pm: War and Destiny [Episode 13]

And I’ve only been watching Maiden’s Vow~ mainly because its during dinner time. War and Destiny is a bit late. And Land of Wealth? I guess I haven’t been following it because its getting closer to exam time (about a month to go or so) and it doesn’t look that appealing- so I’m thinking about skipping this series. I asked around and didn’t hear any really good comments about it. The cast doesn’t look all that appealing either~ Maybe I should watch it myself to see lol but yeh~ if I had more time hmm..
I might watch War and Destiny after my exams (so that would be around November-December) because a friend said she’ll lend it to me.
I wish there was gonna be another Raymond series soon XD

Raymond saved Tavia a few times in the series, and Ray said Tavia can repay him in one go in the future, but it was never shown. I think it would have been interesting to what it was ^^
How did Frankie have one of Tavia’s pins he dropped? It can’t possibly be the one he gave her already, did he buy a new one?
Most of the characters don’t have parents (passed away? orphan?)~ Raymond , Frankie, Derek, Selena..and ones that do i.e Nancy and Tavia -only have a father (which happen to both be evil) I like Tavia’s father so much better~ John Chiang doesn’t love his daughter enough! He would anything to keep his pride, even forcing his daughter against her will to marry that guy. He is the type to use everyone around him to get what he wants (even killing his own wife attempting to kill Tavia and his apprentices..) He’s got two-faces +_+ If Nancy ever betray him, he’ll probably kill her off~ On the other hand, Tavia did betray her father, yet he eventually forgave her. Much loving father lol These thoughts sorta bring me to wonder- I wonder how Tavia’s father and mother met and fell in love lol And..how could Tavia’s mother fall in love with a monk o.0?? What was so attractive about him?
I wonder if Raymond’s character continued to look after the Ghost Doctor’s mother after he turned back ‘good’
Wonder where Anne learnt her martial arts from~
Wonder what Frankie had been doing for the “2 years” (later thing) XD
Why is Selena hated so much in other forums? I really love her character here and I think the character she protrays suits her. People have said she has taken over Nancy’s role, but I just don’t see how Nancy’s image would fit in with “Yin Ye Loi”. In terms of the character “Yin Yei Lo” I liked her from her first appearance in the series, while Nancy and Tavia’s characters annoyed me. They were too proud of themselves~ hm..I don’t recall Nancy’s character thinking Tavia for helping her take the blame (about fighting the other people).
Why was this series warehoused? Love it heaps. They should definetly broadcast this over at HK, beats a lot of series this year I reckon~ has a good cast too ^^
And the battle begins!!
It was an intense episode; it also seemed like Raymond had the upper hand because he understood Frankie too well. The whole way I was rooting for the White Side (like the white side heaps more after John Chiang’s character has left lol, I like the competitiors too).
The way Raymond got one of the fighters to suck up all the powers of the 3 generals was too evil!! It seems like more and more of the dark kingdom people are liking Tavia because the way she treats and cares for everyone there…I think she has earned their loyalty~ the generals, that guy she punished by rebuilding the house rather than getting killed, the guards at the doors..when she becomes the leader, I’m sure she can turn the dark place to a good one =) *refers to Tavia wearing purple sitting on the throne in the ending credits*
There were also some surprises~ like Derek competiting!! ^^ That was very neat lol I feel happy for the 2 couples- Evergreen and Fiona always wanted to have a baby, and Derek was fighting- not only for the white/good side, but also for his and Nancy’s future and their baby ^^ Feel very happy for them =D *yay* they get a good ending and are finally accepted =D When he stood there I was getting worried, because it seems like he hasn’t fought in ages, and as Raymond said- Derek isn’t able to use that technique to the fullest because he lost that burning fire/killing heat (dunno how else to explain it XD) That was the 4th round and it was very crucial because that determined whether the white side could proceed to the final round. It would be a waste if the White side lost in the 4th round and Frankie didn’t get to fight. So I knew Derek would win, watching how is the cool part ^^ So good to have Derek on the good side . I’m sure his father would be very proud of him (we just need Raymond to come back)
The one I feel sorry for the most is Raymond’s character. I pity his charcter because everything he does, its for Selena- but that’s not what she wants, and Tavia and Frankie are also constantly telling him that Selena doesn’t want to wake up to face him anymore. The poor guy, so helpless. He doesn’t care what he turns into as long as he can svae Selena, even if he knows what he is doing is wrong. They are all convincing him its not too late to turn back. However, Frankie wants assurance that if he returns back to the white side, Selena can still saved. Too bad Frankie and the others can’t give him that certainty but the DarkSect leader can..At that point, I felt like giving Raymond a hug =(He asks Selena ‘What should I do?’ I wish someone can give him an answer too..
The last episode is on tomorrow night – final round for the competition:
Raymond v Frankie ..this match is bound to be good!! (really reminds me of two good friends- Raymond and Bosoc from LWOLAP fighting for opposite sides) Who is truely more powerful? I wonder..I have a feeling Raymond might end up losing to Frankie because there’s still good inside him..but its also possible Frankie will lose because he cares more for Raymond and Raymond defeating Frankie is driven by a strong will to save his love. In the opening themevideo, Frankie seems have been killed/badly injured and Tavia is crying- I wonder if that’s from losing to Raymond or another battle with the Dark Sect leader +_+ There’s also another part on the opening with (not sure where the place) and Frankie is facing Tavia- I wonder if that’s in his dreams..
In the ending credits, there’s Raymond, Selena and her son happily together (with flowers around his head) I hope that’s their good ending!!! But his hair is still white~ ~ maybe!! He doesn’t end up getting the cure~ we’ll just have to see!! ^^
Such suspense!! All answers will be coming next episode!!
P.s: where were the judges from? Didn’t quiet get that
This episode was soo goood xD !! Heaps happened and it was moving at a fast pace. The truth finally comes out with John Chiang being the traitor *yay*. All secrets are out (can’t think of any that hasn’t come out yet) Frankie’s innocence is finally proven =)
Gotta say, when Frankie was discussing with John Chiang about working together I thought that was a pretty good idea lol, though I kept on having doubt John Chiang would keep his words~ when he and Frankie were facing the Evil Sect leader, I kept having this feeling he was gonna turn around and kill off Frankie +_+ intense stuff…at least he hit the Dark Sect leader too. ..when everyone started coming out, it was like ‘yay’! ^___^ And the Dark Sect leader looked sorta out-of-place. Pretty much all the ‘white’ people were there, his power seem to have weaken, but when Raymond appeared, it was like ‘AHHHHH!!!! Scary!!!! >___<;;' Raymond appears more powerful than the dark Sect Leader, with him on his side, its likely they would have to defeat him to even get to the leader =\
I felt sad when Raymond started talking to Selena, he appeared so happy she was awake but she felt really sad because of what he was doing- becoming a cold-blooded person; doing anything to save her. When he tried to just justify his reasons, he realises Selena hasn't woken up. Maybe it wasn't his illusion, maybe that's what Selena's soul was really telling him.
Aww...the Ghost doctor dies >< He died being a filial son (really like that apsect of him), sorta felt sorry for him. I thought the Ghost Doctor and Raymond were starting to become good friends/ or would have been good friends =[ but yeh...too bad =( Before that, I was thinking both doctors are on the evil side, that means if anyone is badly injured on the good side, no one can save them..Raymond also seemed to be ordered to kill those who betray the Dark Sect Leader (i.e Tavia) but the Dark Sect leader cancels the mission. I thought it looked a bit odd to have the leader at the Food place, but I suppose he is a human as well. Even though he's the evil guy, I do want Tavia and his relationship to mend back. (can see it happening already =) )
We see Nancy and Derek again! *neat* ^__^ Glad they are living a peaceful happy life together ^^ Even though John's charater has gone psycho, he's still very powerful (looks like he mastered the palm technique). Kinda funny how he wonders why he's hungry and if the noodles are edible ^^; He gets what he deserves. When Derek protected that guy, it really shows how much he has changed into a kind person =)
The Competition is on the next episode!!! So excited!! I can't wait to see it~~ The zombie-like undyable dead bodies look so scary...I wonder if the good guys can win? Will Raymond also be battling with them? We'll just have to wait and see =)
p.s: this is also the episode Raymond has black streaks in his hair =)
Not sure whether my eyes were playing tricks, but I thought I saw Raymond’s picture change from the beginning of the theme video- gotta see the repeat to clarify lol
When Raymond started talking to the unconscious Selena, I suddenly felt his old-self back again, just seems to show his caring side for Selena..but Raymond changed ..and its sorta scary >_<; If I was the boy I would be scared too..now Raymond is teaching him to use poison and his mother is missing. If the Dark Sect leader really helps Raymond learn that thing and he saves Selena and cure his disease/curse, seems like Raymond would forever sell his soul to him..I wonder if there would be any turning back...
*we want you back Ray*
On the other hand, I like how the 5 Martial Artists believe in Frankie. I hate how the other "white" people treat them. It really annoys me cause they were invited to come fight for them, yet treated with no respect or trust and constantly restraining them from going anywhere. They are even accused/ hinted of being traitors from the dark side as well, just so they wouldn't fight for them. Seriously, what a waste of Frankie's effort in convincing them to fight. Its not worth it at all. Even though its supposed to be a bad thing that the white side might lose, I sorta don't want the 5 Martial Artist to fight for such people >< *still very annoyed how that guy tortured Selena even though he's dead*
One thing I thought was odd was how they used the “Pillowcase of Mystery” idea, when Frankie found the pillow inside some vase, and then saw his master in his dreams. It seems to fit into this context I suppose, though Frankie better not sleep with the pillow and go see his master again~ once is enough..but yeh..can’t help but point that out XD lol
Somehow seeing Tavia’s father loving his daughter that much and trusting her, I hope Tavia would accept him someday. Feel sorta sad how Tavia is betraying the dark side~
So happy Tavia finally realised the truth- I was getting annoyed how she wouldn’t believe them. From what I recalled from memory, I thought Frankie told Tavia his suspicion of John Chiang’s character before (but in this episode, she said Frankie never mentioned it to her)
It always happens- even though the characters know how dangerous it would be- still go and confront the person without telling anyone first >< She even brought along what he wants from her! I hope Frankie can make it in time..or someone from the dark side to save her, so Tavia's father would know what kind of guy John Chiang's character is.
awww….feel so bad for Selena’s character T__T and Raymond!! Those teary eyes when he saw Selena..totured her to…ay…how cruel are those people!!! >< So evil..and they call themselves "the good/white" people... *shakes head in disgrace* happens all the time...sometimes, the so-called "good" are more evil than the "bad" ..
Raymond eventually joins the evil side in order to save her; she means everything to him T_T Its true in the sense..what’s the point trying to help the so-called ‘good’ side? What do they get in the end?
Frankie on the other hand has gone into depression~ Anne has died, his friend (Raymond) left him, and everyone thinks he’s the traitor and are all after him. He is realising and blaming himself as getting himself involved from the start was wrong.. I think at a time like this Frankie’s character should really get back up, he has to get back hope!! can’t believe he ‘doesn’t care’ and wants to ignore everything. It’s really not like his usual character because he’s not taking responsibility for his own actions~
Glad to see Monk again (sorta sad to see his master die when it appeared he could have attacked raymond but didn’t, giving him a chance), and Tavia, along with the other 5 Martial Artists <-- I've long awaited for the 5 to reunite (and yup, they look cool together). I'm happy they still believe Frankie isn't the traitor~ I wish they could really do something to help him..
The battle is drawing near..it makes me wonder who the Dark side would send to fight…the 5 generals? Or Raymond 0.0 ? I wish the truth would come out quick!!!
