I really liked watching Michelle Yim’s older son in this episode and his interaction with her. Michelle Yim has two sons; one is very filial, kind-hearted, hardworking, successful, smart etc, the other is the complete opposite and does nothing but cause trouble. Despite the younger son being very unsuccessful, as his mother, she is still always trying to stand up for him etc in front of the father. It is obvious though that Michelle Yim and her husband has all their hopes on their older son. When I saw the preview for this episode, I would have thought the younger son had actually did something to him because of jealousy, but I guess not. Really do feel bad for him having the accident..I hope his character will recover soon. Either way, it has increased Michelle’s hatred towards Ron even more..she’s one dangerous women…

On the other hand, Steven Ma’s sister has finally turned good..^^ hope she stays this way now.

There was also another part where Shirley wanted to go overseas with Ron, but it didn’t seem like he wanted her to tag along lol Thank goodness the dog bit up her passport xD With the looks on Shirley’s face , it looked like she wanted to kick the dog; but I guess she wouldn’t dare since it was Michelle’s puppy XD

*Steven finds out that Kenneth has fallen in love with a girl at first sight while training in Canada and has been having an online relationship since.
*Under peer pressure, Ha Yu falls back into the trap of borrowing illegally again.

*Steven (a legal prosecutor) and Ron meet at the Racetrack.
*Ha Yu plays Steven’s father who gambles on horses; he ended up borrowing a large amount of money from illegal off-track betting activity; and his son helps him repay his debts.
*Kate meets Ron (a veterinarian) while taking a wounded stray dog to the vet. *Kate and Kenneth Ma (an inspector) are siblings. Kenneth is Steven’s best friend.
*Michelle’s 2nd son commits a traffic crime, taking Ron’s car. He almost ran Kate over.

I remember watching this episode constantly getting confused between Steven and Ron. Their personalities seem quite similar ^^;

I’m currently up to episode 10 of [The Brink of Law] and you probably wonder why I haven’t put up my thoughts on the series yet.

Strangely, even though I heard from many that [The Brink of Law] is a really great series, some say its even better than [Dicey Business], I didn’t find the latter quite true.
I think this an above average TVB series; but I haven’t really been addicted to it yet (unlike after watching the first episode of Dicey Business). This feeling is similar to when I first watched [Step into the Past] where I enjoyed the series, but didn’t feel addicted to watching more. Is that actually possible?

The cast looks sort of refreshing. I actually enjoy seeing  a different side of Shirley and Michelle Yim; both scheming women lol. I really like seeing Bernice too;  she looks very pretty on-screen 🙂

After watching all these episodes, I didn’t really have much I wanted to say (weird, yet true).  So, until I do, I plan to make screen captures for you guys to enjoy instead ^^ Stay tuned~~

As [Dicey Business] has come to an end last Friday, [Heavenly in-Laws] has been showing in place of it.

Heavenly in Laws Poster

Starring: Nancy Sit, Linda Chung, Joey Leung, Yuen Wah, Joel Chan, Winnie Yeung, Rain Lau, Wong Cho Lam…
Episodes: 20

Synopsis
The heavenly mother-in-law destroys the couple
The mortal son-in-law’s spirit and soul are dispersed into nothing!

“Hundred Flower Goddess” Chi Mei (Linda Chung Ka Yan) secretly descends into the mortal world in order to experience love. Her innocent and kind self meets Ding San (Joey Leung Wing Chung), who makes his living as a swindler. This leads Lo Fa (Nancy Sit Ka Yin), who is head of the Hundred Flower Palace, to rush down. She swears to prevent her daughter from falling into the mortal world’s love trap.

Fa strongly believes that love between a mortal and an immortal will not have a good ending. Therefore, she uses magic to break up the lovers. Who could have imagined that she was so silly and created the opposite spell instead? She causes San to marry Mei as his wife! On the other hand, in order to win Mei, rich heirloom Cheng Sau Yip (Joel Chan San Chung) unexpectedly steals Fa’s magic weapon. Things become worse when he accidentally causes himself and San to exchange souls!

The soul switching reaches its time limit, but San still cannot return to his true body. From then on, his soul and spirit disperses. At the same time, Fa, Mei, “Tok Shui” God (Yuen Wah), and Yee Long Sun (Lee Kwok Lun) don’t know the real story. They wrongly believe the words of “Fake Ding San,” pursue “Sau Yip” to kill him, and at any time, the soul and spirit of the “Real Ding San” could disperse into nothing…

Comments:

When I first heard about this series, I wasn’t really looking forward in watching it mainly because there’s Linda Chung in it, but I decided to give it a go anyway since uni hasn’t started yet so I’m still on break. Maybe it would be as good as ‘Wars of in-laws’? It looks comical, and I thought as long as it brings some laughs maybe I’d watch it? I also haven’t seen a series with Nancy and Yuen Wan for a while..(currently re-watching The Legend of Master Chai with Joey Leung). While watching episode one, I wanted to give up on it ..the lighting was too bright and colourful. The graphics were overly done and looked so cheezy!! The acting of the characters looked really fake, but I couldn’t even laugh to say it was funny. The time era wasn’t that appealing either and seeing the same backdrop and setting as used in The Price of Greed and Au Revoir Shanghai was quite annoying too.

The heaven scene where Linda was on a swing reminded me of Whatever it takes where Annie Man was also a fairy on a swing. In Whatever it takes, Annie sees “Ngau Long” and “Jik Lui” (the Cowherd and Weaver Maid) where they meet on the 7th day of the 7th month. Just before Annie descends down to Earth, her other fairy friends warn her not to fall in love with a mortal (and of course she does eventually =P). In Heavenly In-laws, Linda sees “Jik Lui” and they have a conversation as well. I guess they always like using the reference to the legend of the Cowherd and Weaver Maid in these types of situations.

Nancy and Yuen Wan appear very childish and immature when they were arguing in heaven and then reporting it to the Heavenly God…

I made screen captures for the theme video for [The Brink of Law]. I don’t really think it was put together that well and some of the lighting makes it look a bit off. I like the little part at the end with the characters on the boat though. The theme song sung by Steven Ma and Ron Ng sounds quite good though, so I think it makes up for it
