Warning: Ending Spoiler!! [All my posts contain spoilers, but this is the ending, so an extra warning message ^__^]
This episode is so sad…there’s so many deaths in this series, all in which were quite sad: Ha Yu, Kenneth, Ron’s father.. Add three more to the list (though one deserved to die and is meant to die).. most unexpecting is Ron!! I can’t believe he ended up dying..I always thought the main character guy can’t die like that; there must of been a miracle; he must of been able to survive it..just didn’t believe it until they revealed him.The other tragic death belonged to Stephen Wong’s character. Unable to accept what his parents have been doing all along, his father killing Ron and learning Shirley’s true face, he ends up commiting suicide in hope that his mother won’t have to worry about him anymore and give in to the police..it was very moving..

Ron eventually finds out the key device in accessing evidence was hidden in Michelle’s dog. While hiding in their room as Michelle and Ngoh Wah(her husband) came in, he sent an sms to Steven, wanting to say “dog”, but instead, typo was made into “dop”. After sending and not realising his mistake, he overhears the conversation between the couple, finding out that it was he who had killed his father. After Ron confronts with him (and knowing he was there to find evidence against him), Ngoh Wah stabs Ron in the heart. Stephen and Shirley also witness this and Michelle begs her husband not to kill the two.

Later, Shirley cannot stand Stephen anymore and lets out her anger on him, yelling at him and telling him all the things his parents had done, and the real reason she was with him. Michelle hears the conversation but doesn’t seem like Shirley is scared of her at all. The things Shirley said to Michelle made her so angry yet she couldn’t do a thing against her.

She slapped Shirley on the face, but I was surprised Shirley didn’t slap her back. After having last few moments with his mother, Stephen tells her to get a camera so they can take a photo together, Luring her away, Stephen suicides by falling into the swimming pool and drowning… =(

Ron becomes missing and the others weren’t able to find any clues at Michelle’s home. The only clue they had was the sms “dop” he sent. Knowing that Ron has gone missing, Kate comes back from Canada and they soon find Ron’s dead body ..
The police are at Michelle’s home looking for evidence; Michelle turning into the police herself after suffering from her son’s death. Eventually, Steven realises the Ron was actually trying to type”dog”, and was able to expose Ngoh Wah’s criminal activities by notifiying Madam Wong. They all try to capture him, and he holds Kate as hostage. With the help of Bernice, they ended up successfully killing him. During the random firing gun shots, Shirley was shot in the process (I knew that was coming =p). Ngoh Wah dies, Michelle is taken to a mental institution, Shirley has gone uhm frozen? (not sure what the term is), Vin is also captured, and all related illegal actions are stopped.

The only happy thing left is Bernice and Steven Ma..Steven gains back his Lawyer rights but after all those deaths, the ending feel quite sad..

The whole ‘Tong’ family is gone..the good and the bad..

I wonder though, why didn’t Ron type ‘9’ instead? Wouldn’t it be faster and easier to understand? Kate had a dog before and she called it “dog dog dog” equivalent to ‘999’ like a police dog. Or what about the cchinese character for dog?

[The Brink of Law] Episode 24

So exciting! Michelle’s husband eventually finds out Bernice is still seeing Steven thinking that all Bernice was doing was trying to get close to him to take advantage of him and he no longer keeps her by his side.
The part where Bernice fought the two guys looked so cool; she also seemed quite smart to have given the money to them. Having one down, there was only Steven and Ron left to continue with their mission. The largest lot of the illegal weapons have been transported in Hong Kong and was successfully captured. It was after this incident that Michelle and Ngoh Wah tested Steven’s loyalty by giving out false information and Steven is mislead, taking a device he thinks contains evidence, but instead activates the bomb set in his car which explodes. Luckily, Steven gets out of the car in time, but his identity is also revealed and cannot get close to them again.
It is evident that Bernice is more skilled, trained as an undercover agent compared to Steven and Ron, but ironically, she is the one gets caught out first.
There’s only Ron left, but he seems to be the weakest and can easily be caught out. He acts so unnatural even around the couple. Even though it is possible that Ron is moving back to the house and getting along with his uncle Ngoh Wah (real father), I think he isn’t that convincing, but at least the father is falling for it. I liked the part where Ron was with Steven and Steven wanted to be with Ron, ignoring Shirley’s constant complaint of not letting the two to be together. I’m quite glad this brotherly relationship was close the whole time and that Shirley couldn’t go in-between them. Michelle tells Steven that Ron is his brother, trying to make him thin Ron is getting close to him because he wants to take everything away from him. I don’t think Steven believed that though, which is nice..

[The Brink of Law] Episode 23

I had a feeling Steven’s identity wouldn’t be revealed, but I actually thought that Steven would come out of the wardrobe and hit him in the head with a bottle or something..besides, that guy was drunk. At least it wasn’t predictable, and instead, Bernice knocked the hot water and it spilled on her arm stopping the situation. She also tells Ngoh Wah that she is not going to sleep with him until he divorces Michelle.
We find out that Kate is 2 months pregnant and the two plan to get married. Upon hearing this from Stephen, Shirley proposes to Stephen to marry her and he agrees. Ngoh Wah objects the idea of Shirley marrying him, so Michelle and Shirley plan the wedding while he is away out of town(I think it must be annoying for Stephen since he can’t talk properly. He doesn’t seem to be able to say or ask what he wants to. I’m sure he would have liked his father to be there for his wedding. I’m sure he would have wanted Ron to be there as well. I’m sure he would have wanted to know why his father didn’t accept the wedding..just doesn’t feel right). I think it was Kate and Ron that told Ngoh Wah about the wedding ceremony so he came back quickly to stop them; but Shirley successfully marries Stephen anyway…there really wasn’t much they could do (No one brings up the fact they are cousins ?) Shirley succeeds in securing herself..
Ngoh Wah finds out that Kate is pregnant and gives extra care and attention towards her. He was really excited to have a grandchild even planing ahead to make up a name (What if Ron doesn’t want to use his name? XD) Shirley then suggests to Michelle that Ron wants to take over the family’s wealth. Michelle hires someone to fiddle with their car and attempts to kill them off!! Steven tried to contact them but it was too late as they were already driving away. Ron and Kate do end up in the car accident but fortunately only suffered minor injuries.
I thought it was really smart how they pretended Kate’s baby was really gone so she can be safe. It tricked me too! Quite happy that Ron is now also helping them , even if it means going against his real father. Kate moves overseas to Canada, staying at Bernice’s place.

[The Brink of Law] Episode 22

22_02.jpg

Evil people tend to think everyone else is as evil as themselves…

Shirley thinks Kate is only pretending ..Michelle thinks Ron is just pretending..

Now knowing that Kate and Ron both see through her, Shirley immediately tries to stop Ron from letting Stephen know that she is pretending to be his girlfriend only because he is of use to her; not because she loves him. Firstly, she does something to Stephen’s laptop so he cannot email/communicate with Ron. (I find this really weird because it shouldn’t be hard to get him a new one, or they should have more than one computer in their house. They are supposed to be very rich). Later, the breaks on Steven’s wheelchair gets released and it starts moving towards the swimming pool. Shirley smirks when she sees it, but when she noticed Michelle approaching, she deliberately runs in front and blocks Stephen from falling into the swimming pool, falling in the pool herself as a result. Shirley succeeds in gaining Michelle’s favour, and for her to think that Shirley really loves him. Ron eventually tells his uncle (real father) about Shirley, and he tries to keep Shirley away from Stephen by “promoting’ her to work in Shanghai. After more acting and lying from Shirley, Michelle objects his decision and told him that Shirley would rather quit the job than to leave Stephen’s side.

On the other hand, Bernice antagonises with Michelle and is later almost run over by a motorcycle and her arm gets injured. Bernice goes to Michelle’s house and confronts her; Michelle’s husband believes Michelle was the one behind it and their relationship worsens further. During their argument and distraction, Steven successfully inserts spyware into Michelle’s laptop. I didn’t know the motorcyclist was sent by the police force and was also part of their plan!

Later, Michelle and her husband receive more orders for the illegal items but the timing was risky. Her husband ends up proceeding anyway. The time of exchange was on Bernice’s birthday, so as planned, the two have dinner together. While they danced, the police force managed to successfully steal his mobile phone and return it back to his pocket without him noticing. They ended up checking up the location of exchange and eventually they were busted.

22_01.jpg

When Michelle’s husband leaves to deal with the situation, Steven was waiting at her house to celebrate her birthday together. Being upset with the situation and argument with his wife, Michelle’s husband goes back up to Bernice’s apartment!! Being drunk, he tries to take advantage of her. The hiding Steven cannot stand it anymore and steps out…

Extra side note:

On Ron’s instant messenger, above Stephen, there’s Nancy’s character’s nickname from [Heavenly In-laws] “Fei Fa” (fat flower)

[The Brink of Law] Episode 21

A very exciting episode!

It was such a relief that Bernice saw Michelle coming up to them and she pretended they were arguing so Stephen got the chance to close her laptop..it was then Bernice realised what Steven was trying to do; also leaving Steven to have other thoughts about her.
We find out that Bernice is actually an undercover cop from Canada trying to get close to Michelle’s husband to ruin their relationship so they could find evidence against them. Bernice and Steven’s misunderstanding is finally cleared and they make up. I actually didn’t realise ages back when Bernice said she had something secretive that she would tell Steven after she comes back from overseas but doesn’t. I’ve always wondered what job she had. Now the two are working together, but this just means that the two are in more danger.
Shirley’s father dies in jail; her hatred, anger and jealousy towards Kate grows seeing Michelle’s husband favours her more.. Can’t believe she even have the guts to yell at her boss like that; its just ridiculous..I’m glad that Ron and Kate see the side of Shirley she had been hiding the whole time. Kate and Ron seem to be pretty clueless..At least they won’t trust her anymore and have their guards up.

21_argue.jpg

The relationship between Michelle and her husband get worse. Bernice and Steven set up the scene, misleading Michelle into thinking her husband was doing something inappropriate with Bernice making her even more angry…what an awesome plan. The danger of this is Bernice’s safety..

Synopsis

Good and evil, who can determine;Love and hate, who can distinguish

Wulin’s [ancient world of martial arts] top righteous swordsmen clan, the School of the Sacred Swords, was recruiting students to learn, practice and train in a specific formation that had been lost years ago. An easygoing fellow, Sing Fung (Bosco Wong Chung Chak), and the cool and solitary Ging Nui (Kevin Cheng Ka Wing) were both successfully admitted into the school. At the same time, the evil Bloody Shadow Clan was rising up. The new leader of the clan, Mok Man (Sharon Chan Man Chi) led its members on an attack to Sacred Swords. Fung suffered severe injures, but was fortunately rescued from the doors of death with the help of a good friend and a member of the Sky One Tribe, Sui Ling (Shirley Yeung Sze Kei). After Fung recovered from his injuries, his martial arts powers grew immensely, and was appointed the master of the school. Bak Tong Oh (Eddy Ko Hung), whom people call the “master of swords,” married his daughter Bak Tong Chi Lung (Bernice Liu Bik Yi) to him. However, on the day of the big wedding, someone revealed that Fung and Man were siblings, and he was actually the offspring of the evil clan! Fung, who had always been raised admiring Sacred Swords painfully struggled between the idea of good and evil. Nui, who both loved and hated Man, was also trapped in a big dilemma…

TVB synopsis translation Credits to: Bosco-Wong.com

============================================================

Adjustments to the synopsis given by TVB:

The School of Sacred Swords didn’t recruit the students to learn a special technique. (This is what Wayne’s character had initally thought). They were just recruiting and training them. Fung (Bosco) was not saved bySui Ling (Shirley) after suffering severe injuries after the battle, but instead healed by Bernice’s father and the remaining group leaders. Fung (Bosco)’s martial arts didn’t grow inmensely. He’s powers weren’t able to increase due to some pressue point Wayne found in him. Also, Bosco was not appointed the master of the school, but in a higher position as the 3 other teachers and temporarily taking his ‘role’ while he was away. The fact about Bosco and Sharon being sibilings was not revealed on the wedding day, but beforehand. Nui (Kevin) didn’t love and hate Man (Sharon). He has always liked her.

Comments:
I’m looking forward to this series since its a Wuxia series based on a RPG. Despite hearing the graphics aren’t that good here (are there any TVB series with good computer graphics?), I look forward to seeing it.

[The Brink of Law] Episode 20

This episode focussed a lot on Shirley’s character- her jealousy, hatred and selfishness growing.

The end of this episode was left in much suspense! Steven was taking a big risk by trying to install spy ware into Michelle’s laptop just the moment she ran off to see Stephen. She could have easily seen him through the glass window as well. Bernice comes up to him and asks what he was trying to do..
