[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 8

oo..this is interesting, more of the past is shown and this time Anne and Michael actually talk, and we find out that the two eventually jumped off because they were poisoned by Bernice’s fathers’ deadly attack..more of Bernice’s father’s ‘dark, ugly‘ side is revealed

[Back at the present time] When he flew down where Anne and Michael had jumped off, I didn’t expect him to find their graves! I was hoping that 20 years later there wouldn’t be any remained of their bodies. I was really scared he would find something Actually, I had hoped the two didn’t die even though the chances of that is very unlikely ..I was actually quite shocked to see what he saw: 2 graves, engraved with words by their daughter!! He now knows that their daughter is still alive and even encounters Sharon there. I’m quite relieved she was able to escape though (she must be quite powerful).

The Sacred school people have also found the Bloody Shadow Clan’s hideout; but luckily most of them have evacuated already. Instead, they were faced to fight Corpses which didn’t seem to die easily. It was at the hideout that the Sword brother had realised he had been poisoned by the smell from Sharon and would soon be under her control. He eventually confronts her and she reveals her true nature to him though its already too late for him.

With the Bloody Shadow Clan arising, Bernice’s father has decided to learn the ultimate 7 person technique and would choose the best one out of the seven new disciples to take on the final position. It appears that Wayne is also very interested in the technique and at first thought Bernice’s father was going to get the 7 new disciples to learn it, but instead, Bernice’s father is also taking part of it. For the first speed match, I think it looked like Kevin was in front of Bosco, but instead Bernice said that Bosco had won the match. For the second round, the 7 had to stand up on a mountain and transmit a poetry to Patricia, whichever she heard first would win. Seeing that Kevin had would have won, Wayne used some technique and blew his one aside so Bosco’s sound transmission should have reached Patricia first. But at the end, Patricia had still announced Kevin the winner. it leaves me a bit confused..

Bernice’s father suspecting Wayne and injures him to see if he knew how to fight back. Luckily Wayne didn’t, but got quite injured..I really don’t like Bernice’s father…makes me hate the School of Sacred Swords.. I sort of hope the Bloody Shadow Clan can get their revenge on him and hopefully Bosco can see what kind of person Bernice’s father really is..

So the cockroach scene isn’t that random after all! As a result, Bosco’s brother and mother are now also at the School, working as cooks there, so I think they would have more screen time. The more people at the School of Sacred Swords; the more things can happen; the merrier! They are bound to cause more problems too. Wayne has also accommodated himself at the school by pretending to be an innocent old man who needs to be protected.
I think its so cute how they were all teasing Bosco about Bernice. You just know that if Bosco’s brother (played by Johnson Lee) hears/sees ‘things’, its bound to spread..Bosco is so cute when he’s shy!~ Bosco’s brother also sets up a little 2 day trip for them to play in town (excluding Kevin who rejected the offer); one in which was looking through an ‘mysterious’ ground where they would see the person they like. Out of curiosity, Bernice sneaked out at night to see for herself, and she ends up seeing Bosco (who in fact was Bosco who had fainted, as planned by his brother).

Being jealous at Bosco again, the ‘Sword brother’ injures Bosco and Bernice comes to stop him.

Sharon ended up luring the ‘Sword Brother’ to take in her deadly poison/perfume.

Wayn’e new disguise as an old man.

Wayne does not like the head of Sacred Swords and suggests that he is not as righteous and heroic as he appears. I was right ^^ The green creatures has been killed by Bernice’s father by using sneaky attack and taking advantage of his weakness by using his son to lure him out and and some eclipse thing which weakened him.

Shirley makes her first appearance in episode 7 when Bosco randomnly walks by her tea store. She looks pretty here but doesn’t really leave much of an impression on me.

Sharon’s quite nice to Kevin and helped him by directing him to find his mother. There Kevin hears his mother’s voice calling out to him trapped in some mountain and is unable to rescue her.

The Bloody Shadow Clan is rising and the new leader is revealed to be Sharon~ This is so cool. Not unpredictable but I like where the story is heading.

Thinking back to when she was 13 years old, the leader of the Scared Swords along with a group of people destroyed her hometown and her people. She swore to bring them down for what they have done. This really reminds me of Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion where he tried to destory everything that was left from the Bloogy Shadow Clan. All those innocent people killed!! And they call themselves the “good” people..

I don’t really like Kevin’s character. He actually asks Bosco to give up in competing for being selected to learn the ultimate 7-person technique because he doesn’t want to hurt Bosco. I just feel that sounds unfair to Bosco…

These screncaptures were a bit hard to capture and looks blurry. I’m not sure if its the quality of the files or if they added some sort of effect onto them, but here they are =)

In these episode, the Sacred Sword disciples continue to learn some more techniques. Didn’t really mention it before but I think the group of disciples that got accepted are quite funny together. I like watching them interact and how they look out for one another even though three of them a quite silly.

Learning pins attack.

Learning drum-beat techniques. The drum-beats were about to create hallucinations. Interestingly, Bosco saw the birds which surrounded his birth place; ones with the evil clan. Also the bird (or is it a crow?) which took him away. These crows are also found flying outside of the place Sharon stayed.

Bernice helping Bosco with the drumming.

Learning speed moves.

Eating food and finding a cockroach on it. Such randomness XD

Bosco teaching Bernice how to eat a Beggar-chicken.

A very powerful green creature appears, killing the Wulin’s heroes. The School of Sacred Swords try to eliminate it, so they sent the ‘top male student'(I’ll refer him as ‘Sword Brother’ from now on. Not sure what else to call him hehe..) leading more disciples to go on the important mission of defeating it. The guy loved Bernice but she did not return his love. Seeing her get along with Bosco so well and cared for him alot, he took the opportunity to put Bosco in danger by bringing him along too. He even got Bosco to go in the cave and do the task of shooting it with these special arrows. In the previous episodes, Bosco had saved the green creature before so the green creature ended up healing Bosco when he was injured. In the end, the green guy captured the Sword Brother..haha, he deserved it..I don’t really like watching the green creature..hope the story moves on to the real villains soon..
On the other hand, Kevin managed to find Sharon and the relationship between Sharon and his mother is revealed. The mystery behind Kevin’s mother is interesting. I wonder who trapped her there; I wonder who she really is; ..why at the School of Sacred Sword? Maybe its Bernice’s father..how did Kevin know to get in Sacred Sword to search for her?I look forward to watch more and find out about that =)

I think its very interesting how Bosco being the son of the evil clan couple is brought up to be a good guy and accepted as a disciple of the Sacred Sword; those how have forced his parents to die..I wonder when Bosco would meet Sharon.

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 3

In short, a few points for this episode:

*Bosco overhears his mother and brother’s conversation and realises that he is not blood related to them. However, he still does not know about his true past.
*The new students continue to learn more techniques.
*Sharon makes her first appearance !! I think she looks quite pretty here..

While Kevin is resting on the iced-stone (like that of Return of Condor Heroes by Jing Yong), flashback is shown. Played by the little boy Jacky Wong, Kevin’s character said his mother had told him that when the purple crystal shone, he would find his mother if he followed the light; but never did.

The purple crystal reacted and he left into the direction of the light in hope to find her. However, he was disappointed to find it was just the reflection of the moon. At that moment, Sharon suspiciously runs by and he follows.

The whole time, Kevin didn’t end up saying anything. He just looked back at her. Attracted by her charm.

I just can’t imagine them hugging each other there like that..hahaha.. this was Kevin’s punishment when they found out he wasn’t sleeping on the iced-stone (had sneaked out), and Bosco attempted to help him out of the situation making both of them being punished.

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 1-2

As others have been saying, the computer graphics used here aren’t very good, they look really fake.. but if you ignore that, and look at it as an RPG (since it is based off a Chinese RPG), the story looks like it’ll get interesting. I’m actually quite confused with the first part of the series. Seems Like Michael Miu and Anne’s characters are evil, and Bernice’s father (played by Eddie Ko Hung) is there to fight them off, but I reckon he looks more evil than the two. Bad guys don’t often jump off the cliff and commit suicide. After the victory, that man became the leader of Wulin, head of “Seng Gim Muun” (School of Sacred Swords).
I have no idea what the narrator was trying to say at the start. If someone does, please let me know lol Its like those ancient poetic stuff. Hm..guess I’ll just have to watch on.

Before Michael and Anne go into battle, we see them get birds carry and fly away with two babies. I believe one on them is Bosco; the other being Kevin perhaps?

Bosco’s ‘mother and brother’ who had brought him up

20 years later, Bosco is brought up and ends up becoming Wayne’s apprentice who learns his techniques quite fast (only showing him once) and he seems to grasp quite quickly. Their relationship is quite fun to watch because both of them have fun personalities.
Bosco’s character reminds me of his usual roles, like in Lethal Weapon of Love and Passion. He is an easy-going, friendly guy who is naive.

Reminds me of Whatever it takes how they accepted him mainly because of the money that was with the baby. The two also trick people’s money to make a living, but glad to say the son is not as bad as the one in Whatever it takes.

I think Kevin looks a bit out of place, or maybe its just because he hasn’t been in ancient series before. Bernice looks similiar to her role in Brink even though its completely different time period.Kevin appears to be looking for his mother, but we don’t really know much about him yet.
The two meet when they both were accepted in the School of Sacred Swords as disciples.

Bernice and Bosco’s first encounter. Bernice catches him when he falls.

Plays Bernice’s father.

Bosco meets Kevin. Kevin’s first appearance.

[The Brink of Law] Evil Villainesses

“I don’t blame you because I am that kind of women myself”

I think the two female villains’ stood out the most of all characters in Brink. I liked their portrayals of their characters and think they did a pretty good job. I never really liked Shirley’s characters in previous series when she played as good characters, so I think this one really stood out.

Not surprisingly, my favourite character in the series goes to Michelle Yim’s Song Gam Chi. She was a really interesting character; very evil, beautiful, ruthless, clever, yet she truly did everything for her family. It’s like there’s two sides to her. She loves her family and you can feel the motherly love. She loved her two sons; she loved her brother, her niece Shirley, and even Ron (until she found out who he really was).

Shirley’s Song Ga Yee, on the other hand was filled with hatred and jealousy. She was purely a selfish person, scheming so she could get the best out of the situations. She was able to hide all this for almost the whole series, appearing to be a kind, innocent, caring person. The two are always scheming and do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals.

Shirley and Michelle’s goal in the series are different; they are evil in their own way. Michelle was involved in illegal off track gambling activities, and illegal weapons, one in which the police are after. She, along with her husband are the ones leading the criminal behaviour in Brink and are the ones that need to be stopped. Its the corruption its causes to society in general. On another note, Michelle’s motives were also driven by her “love” for her family.

Michelle is one dangerous women you would not want to mess with. When her brother was imprisoned, she hated Kenneth so much she hired people to kill him off. Sadly, her brother believed Michelle had betrayed him and purposely got him imprisoned; as if she didn’t care. This has also influenced the way Shirley saw her. When Michelle realised Ron was her stepson, she feared that Ron would take over the wealth of her family and the business when she wanted Stephen to have. She also blamed Ron in causing the accident Stephen was involved in. With more flaming from Shirley, Michelle believed Ron had known the truth earlier and planned for this to happen. Once again, she hired someone to try to kill him off while he was hiking along. When she learns of Ron and Kate’s baby, another ‘accident’ occurs.

With no doubt, Michelle is protective over her two sons. Stephen means everything to her and we never stop seeing the unconditional love she has for him. The first time he comes back from overseas, she found him in coming out of their swimming pool. In the last episode, Michelle found him dead there. I really did pity her. I know she would have been completely heartbroken and shattered when she saw what she did. It was a really sad scene. At that moment, she had lost everything. Nothing meant to her anymore.

I think her love for her family is also her weakness. For her children’s sake, especially Stephen, Shirley managed to successfully persuade Michelle into negative thoughts of Ron. Shirley fooled Michelle numerous times in the series because she trusted her; she was her niece. Michelle wanted to give the best thing to Stephen, so Shirley started sticking to him, making it seem like she loved him so much. Steven successfully got close to Michelle because he had helped Stephen with his medical condition; then later successfully helping Vin escape from the police.

Even though Shirley was not involved in the illegal activities; Shirley was the character of selfishness- she only cared about herself . Shirley sought power. She wanted to be promoted. She wants the fashion Company. Jealousy sprouts when Kate enters the scene; yet she pretended they were really good friends. She tried many times to go in between the two, to get rid of her because she wanted Ron for herself. Even when they first met, Shirley deliberately bad-mouthed Kate to reduce her chances of getting employed. When Ron had rejected her, Shirley pretended she was ok with it. Kate was her arch enemy. Even though Kate treated her as a friend, Shirley did all to get back at her. She finally confronts Kate when she bursts out everything in episode 21.

Because Michelle is very powerful, she usually hires people to kill those in her way. On the other hand, Shirley does not have the power to do what she wants herself so she manipulates and uses people. She acts in front of everyone, lying and deceiving others while pretending she is innocent. Once she turns her face away, a different face expression can be seen. No one really finds out Shirley’s disguise; both times she ended up revealing her true self to Ron/Kate, and Stephen/Michelle. Shirley would pretend to cry to get people to pity her.

Shirley successfully used Vin to get back at Kate, used Michelle’s trust, used Stephen’s feelings to gain a secure place in the family, allied with their business competitor to get rid of ‘Anita’ so she could get promoted, then using Michelle again to kill of the business competitor when they had blackmailed her. Only until the last episode did Shirley show her true self to Stephen and Michelle.

I always founds these family relationship charts interesting when there’s lots of people involved and the relationships can get complicated. I’m surprised that some major spoiler relationships aren’t linked up.
