Best Bet—> Life Art 寫意人生

Casts: Kevin Cheng, Gigi Lai, Paul Chun, Evergreen Mak, etc.
Episodes: 20
Genre: Modern Drama/Enlightenment/Romance

I’m looking forward to this series..haven’t seen Gigi Lai series for a while now. This series looks like it’ll be light hearted and romantic and hopefully moving ^^ There’s not a large cast here, so most of it would be focussed on the two main characters. Looking forward to it =)
Devil’s Disciples—>The Slicing of the Demon 凶城計中計

Casts: Sunny Chan, Michael Tse, Bernice Liu, Ngok Wah, etc.
Episodes: 20
Genre: Costume Drama/Mystery/Thriller/Supernatural

This series looks interesting, but I think I might be skipping it so I can have more time for doing my uni work instead. Judging from the trailer, Michael looks like he’ll be playing the evil guy. Sunny looks weird in the poster..I couldn’t really recognise him ^^;

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 17

This episode turned out better than I had imagined in the sense that Bosco did manage to make it in time to save his sister Sharon, and Bosco, Sharon and Kevin reunite. Bosco finally realises the evil person Bernice’s father is, and Bernice is starting to see it for herself too. Kevin uses Bernice as a hostage against Sacred Swords, so they were able to escape, and the three went to find Shirley to save Sharon because she was attacked by Bernice’s father. Her injuries have gone very serious and Shirley promised to try convince her father to help her.

Based on the fake information Bosco sent to his sister, Sharon heads off to kill Bernice’s father and Kevin tries to stop her, telling her that she will die. He plans to take her to see Shirley to heal her, but Shraon said she’ll go anywhere with him after she defeats him. Since Sharon kept insisting, Kevin said he’ll go too, to help weaken.

Sharon ends up hitting Kevin in the back, making him faint because she doesn’t want him to die, and leaves by herself.

Because Bernice’s father was ready for Shraon, having worn the special armour and planned a deadly sneak attack on Sharon, she gets badly injured, but luckily Bosco came in time. Even then, Bosco was no match for him and eventually, Kevin comes in taking Bernice as hostage (he saw her on the way after he woke up) and they manage to escape.

Shirley tries healing Sharon, but she is deeply poisoned. An oridnary person would have died, but because Shraon has strong powers, she is able to hang on for a few days. The only hope they have left the leader of the Sky One Tribe (her father), but Shirley says that its their tribe rule that they won’t heal people from the outside; but they want to give it a try. Its their last hope.

The two talk how they are glad that even though all these bad things have happened, they are still good friends (when they thought they would turn out to be enemies the last time they saw each other)

Bosco ends up asking Kevin about his sister Sharon, and he admits their relationship ^^ Bosco asks when he can call him brother-in-law, and Kevin says that because he is older than him, he can always call him younger-brother =)

At this moment, Sacred Swords announces to everyone Bosco’s identity and plans to use Bosco’s mother and brother as hostage to lure him out. Bosco’s mother and brother also gets captured (being related to Bosco and his identity) but Bernice releases them. The two escape and find Wayne, but the three do not know where Bosco, Kevin and Sharon are. Nevertheless, Bernice’s father cotinue to spread out the fake news, making Bosco think they were still captured by him.

Bernice saves Bosco’s brother and mother

The lady tells Bosco of the ‘news’ about his mother and brother’s situation. Even though they know its a trap, Bosco can’t not go to save them…

Bosco tells Kevin that he come back safely to attend their (Kevin and Sharon) wedding.

Shirley tells Bosco how he saved her when they were small and that she likes him. Shirley take Kevin and Sharon to Sky One Tribe to seek for help in healing her while Bosco goes to save his mother and brother.
Wayne, Bosco’s mother and brother want to find Bosco so he won’t fall in their trap but cannot contact him. Eventually, Wayne thinks of a plan and that was to write on pieces of cloths to warn him that its a trap. One the day; Wayne, Booco’s mother and brother standing up in a high position starts throwing the strips into the city, with the help of the right wind. Who would have thought that Bosco does not end up seeing it and falls for the trap T_T

Wayne trying to look out for Bosco, hoping he won’t appear.

Wayne ends up coming out to protect Bosco against Bernice’s father who wants to kill him off.
The battle between Wayne and Bernice’s father was really cool, but it was very sad because somehow I knew Wayne was going to die for Bosco…Wayne cared so much for Bosco; he used his last strengths and power to fight Bernice’s father, but his body could no longer hold itself and he dies… T___T watching the flashbacks of the time he and Bosco were together made me feel really sad.. I always like ‘Si Fu is always right’, but disappointed that Bosco didn’t believe him..Its like Wayne was fated to die for Bosco because Bosco does not end up seeing the strips of writing on pieces of cloths..One piece had fell on him..if only he had looked..and not thrown it away…

Flashbacks of the times they had together..

[Devil Disciples] Episode 16

Argh!!! Bernice’s father lies to Bosco and uses him to lure Sharon into his trap!!Bernice’s father pretends to be the good guy who is understanding and forgives Bosco. He took advantage of the loyalty and trust Bosco had in him (and because he was naive), and used the trust Sharon had in his brother…she would never have thought her own brother would betray her…

Bosco kneels in front of Bernice’s father and tries to explain himself. He even asks him to kill him or do anything he wants..>___<

Bernice’s father takes Bosco to some fake guy and making up a story of how he turned him into a ‘good’ person, saying he can help his sister do the same and get rid of anger and hatred.

Bosco thinking everything would be fine (for believing Bernice’s father), tells Bernice that he was only pretending to be with Shirley etc (what a waste of effort...), but doesn’t tell her his true identity. He tells her that her father knows about ‘it’ and what he was doing was best for her.

Bernice forgives Bosco.

[Sharon and Bosco Moments] The siblings share some time together
I really liked watching Bosco and Sharon moments, especially the part when the two were sharing experiences of how they lived when they were young etc. You completely see no evil in Sharon..I was really annoyed how Bosco believed Bernice’s father and even agreed to help get rid of all her powers, to supposedly turn her ‘good’. He trusted him over his own twin sister!! Bosco even got Sharon to promise him not to kill other innocent people, and Sharon promised him the minimal was to kill Bernice’s father for revenge..yet Bosco still lied to her T_T You know Sharon would keep her words, but its obvious Bernice’s father wouldn’t..he said that he won’t hurt Sharon (yeh..sure) but uses the excuse that there may be some ‘accident’ he cannot avoid.

Sharon was really happy when Bosco accepted her as his sister =3 Feels very sweet seeing the two together.

Bosco takes Sharon to eat as they talk about the past.

How cuuute ^^

The two watch performances by people at the streets and Bosco tells her how he used to do things like that to earn money when he was small.

Kevin notices that Sharon has been in a happier mood and asks what’s been happening. Sharon apologises that she can’t tell him yet and Kevin repsects her decision. Either way, he is happy for her too.

However, when she talks about taking revenge for her parents, the hatred grows and her internal injuries suffer again.

Sharon is angered, saying she doesn’t want to die yet- not before she takes her revenge.

Bosco tells his sister fake information about Bernice’s father.

I liked watching the Kevin and Sharon moments too and seeing the two get closer. Sharon’s body is getting weaker and weaker ..I’m so worried that she won’t be able to handle it and that she would die soon. The ultimate powers she holds is destroying her but she is struggling to hang on..she doesn’t care if she dies..as long as Bernice’s father dies.. Kevin tries to stop her from learning the techniques and taking in drugs (?) but she keeps slapping him in the face for getting in the way.. T_T It hurts him so much to see her hurting herself…

Sharon slaps Kevin in the face for stopping her take the drugs (not really drugs, but its bad for her)

I thought Wayne should have known that Bosco had told Bernice’s father the truth when Bosco said he got things sorted ‘as long as the leader understands’, then Wayne would warn him about the possibility of using him etc

I knew it in the last part where Bosco was talking to Bernice about the guy how turned ‘good’ and that he would realise Bernice’s father had only lied and had no intentions of ‘saving her’. I hope Bosco would see the true face of Bernice’s father now..but I think it may be too late to save his sister T_T

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 15

Bosco wants to leave Sacred Sword School but does not want to work for The Bloody Shadow Clan. Sharon stops him and threatens to hurt his loved ones, i.e Bernice, his mother and brother if he did.

Bosco tells Bernice he wants to delay their wedding but does not give her a proper reason. He can’t tell his true identity and asks her to trust him. Bernice gets angry at him because he’s not being honest to her and says that he is just finding exuses and doesn’t truely love her.

Bosco faced in the dilemma and not knowing what to do, Wayne overhears and finds out that Sharon is actually Bosco’s sister.

He advises him to try not be ‘useful’ to Bernice’s father anymore. That way, Bernice’s father wouldn’t keep him in the high position and therefore Sharon wouldn’t see Bosco in the position to back stab Sacred Swords and taking advantage of the situation.

Bosco pretends to neglect his duties, acting like a total idiot and humiliates himself in front of everyone so they would get rid of him. Bosco’s sudden change caused his mother and brother, Bernice to worry about him, and fell for it. Knowing he cannot be with Bernice, Bosco and Shirley pretend the two have fallen in love with each other so she will give up on him.

Bernice follows Bosco and sees the two together. Bosco appears to have spent the night with her and Bernice waits outside all night.

The next morning, Bernice confronts Shirley and asks her why. Shirley tells her that she didn’t want to, but she couldn’t control her feelings towards him. Shirley also explains that Bosco just wants to be a normal person, doesn’t want to fight, but the School of Sacred Swords have given him a lot of pressure.

On the other hand, we find out that Sharon saved Kevin when he fell into the water in episode 13. Sharon was lured to the water when hearing Kevin’s mother’s melody. Kevin is really grateful towards her, but Sharon insists that its his mother who had saved him, or she was repaying his mother back for saving her in the past. Kevin also knows how to play that tune (that his mother knew) that heals Sharon and offered to play for her to make her better. Sharon’s internal injuries have gotten worse and is unable to play the melody out herself to heal herself. Sharon tries to convince Kevin to join the Bloody Shadow Clan because they share the same enemy but Kevin refuses because he doesn’t want to get involved. He only wants to avenge his mother’s death but doesn’t want to hurt his friends at the School of Sacred Swords. Upon hearing this, Sharon gets really angry and told him to leave or else she would kill him. As he prepares to leave, Sharon’s internal injures arise again and Kevin helps her take her back to her room and plays the tune for her all night to make her feel better.

The next morning, Sharon was surprised that Kevin had stayed and helped play the tune all night for her. She asks him why since he doesn’t owe her anything anymore. Kevin tells her that he wants to stay to help her get better; not doing it out of duty to repay ^^ Even if she wants to kill him, he says that he still gained a few days. Sharon happily lets him stay. ^^

Sharon finds Bosco and tells him to stop acting, and once again threatens to hurt those he cares about if he won’t come back to her. Bosco insists that she kill him first, and the angered Sharon gives him one more chance to think about it. If the next time she doesn’t get a response she wants to hear; she will kill him.

Bernice’s father overhears Bosco and Sharon’s conversation and realises Bosco’s true identity.

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 14

Bosco and Bernice’s wedding is arranged by Bernice’s father to be on the day when peace is brought to Wulin; the day they defeat the Bloody Shadow Clan. Excited as Bosco was, he went to tell Bernice the great news ^^

Bosco telling Bernice that her father has arranged their wedding.

Bosco’s brother and mother’s finding out about his wedding. Bosco’s brother hints to his mother that there’s also a girl he’s found (i.e Shirley). Hearing this, Bosco’s mother was overjoyed, wanting Shriley to be her daughter-inlaw so decided to help him out.

Bosco’s mother gets her to do the stick thing (not sure what’s it called) for her ‘son’ and got the man to explain ‘his’ fortune/luck in his love relationship and gets very positive comments. Bosco’s mother starts hinting to her that her son likes her and Shirley, thinking she was referring to Bosco gets embarrassed.

Bosco’s mother realises that the one Shirley likes is Bosco, and not Bosco’s brother. She later tells Bosco’s brother to give up on her.

Bosco seemed to have everything the way he wanted it. He has been promoted in the School of Scared Swords and the leader had approved of his relationship with Bernice, soon being able to marry the girl he loves. Bosco lives to bring justice to the world and to fight for the ‘righteous’, which is what he believes destroying the ‘evil’ clan would do. But its during this time that Bosco learns of his true past and identity when Sharon’s confronts him. This leaves Bosco in confusion and denial, not wanting to accept the fact even though deep down he knows she is telling the truth.

That night, Bosco saw the birds flying above his room outside, and they lure him outside to Sharon. One of the birds give him back the green thing (don’t know what’s it called) Shraon had previous taken off him.

Sharon shows him her piece of green thing which matches up with the one he has. She tells him about how Bernice’s father killed their parents, but before the battle, the two got the birds to take them away each in a basket with the green thing.

Unable to accept the fact, Bosco runs away..

Bosco later finds out Wayne’s poisoned condition when he sees him on the streets. Wayne has turned into an old man..I felt really sad for Wayne seeing him like that; really pity him. He has aged so much he can’t even remember Bosco..
In order to save Wayne, Bosco seeks antidote from Sharon who told him she would only give it if he came back to their side. Without considering much, Bosco ‘accepts’ her condition in exchange for the antidote.

Wayne does recover and return to his young appearance but he loses all his martial arts skills. Such a shame…

Bosco tells Shirley about his true identity and she tries to confort him.

When I saw this little shot I’m reminded of how much Bosco loves Bernice.. he know that they can’t be together because of who is really is. He doesn’t want to tell her because then they would become enemies..feels like it might be their last time together and plans to leave her while she’s asleep.

The next morning, Bosco wants to leaves but is stopped by Sharon who threatens to hurt Bernice and his loved ones if he goes back on his words. I think its unfair to Sharon; she kept her words when they fought each other, letting them go if he can survive 3 of her attacks, but now, after taking tthe antidoate, Bosco wants to go back on his words. I actually hoped Bosco would go back to the Blood Shadow Clan..

I’m getting a bit annoyed by Bosco’s character already because he keeps thinking that Bernice’s father is a total good guy when its obvious to the audience he isn’t. From what Bosco can see, Bernice’s father is a true hero and so he wouldn’t listen to Wayne or Kevin’s warning. Sometimes it makes me wonder why he doesn’t trust the two… or even have the thought of the possibility at the back of his mind. Another thing Bosco keeps saying is how the School of Swords did a lot for him but I can’t see what it is. Why does Bosco have to show such loyalty? They didn’t teach him much techniques either, but we see it like he’s doing everything for them and selling his soul because he’s accepted as their disciple. Seeing that Bosco saved the situation against Sharon, Bosco gets promoted in the School of Sacred Swords.

Bernice captures Kevin after finding him and brings him back to see her father. He appears to be missing for days while he was grieving over his mother’s death.
[The Confrontation]

Kevin confronts Bernice’s father about the death of his mother but Bernice’s father twists the situation in making the others think he captured her because of a very good reason i.e she caused evil to the world and deserved it; rather than him using dirty tricks to try steal her techniques. Sadly, no one believes Kevin. Kevin tries to avenge his mother by directly attacking him, but almost gets killed by Bernice’s father. Bosco and the others begged and tried to persuade Bernice’s father to give him a chance, so he ends up locking him up for his ‘traitorous’ act.

Bosco’s characters name ‘Wind’ (missing a stroke). Bosco’s mother had always worried for Bosco’s safety after the incident and wants him to leave before Sharon takes her revenge against him. His brother attempted to scare him with blood writing on the walls etc, but Bosco finds out the flaws. No matter how much Bosco’s mother nagged and begged him to leave the School of sacred Swords for her, he declined; saying that the School really needs them now. His thought was also influenced by Shirley when he told her his dilemma. She tells him that he should protect people on a larger scale i.s stay and protect theSchool of Sacred Swords (rather than being filial to his mother) because only then would more people have the chance to be filial to their parents.

Sharon captures Bosco ‘s brother and forces him to tell her about Bosco’s past. After that, she gives him something that erases the memory of that moment.

Sharon on the other hand finds out that Bosco is actually her twin brother and wants to reunite with him. However, her follower does not want this to affect their plan in taking revenge and attempts to kill off Bosco to get him off Sharon’s mind. Without Sharon’s consent, she fights Bosco but was luckily saved by Wayne. We hardly see Wayne fight so I quite liked that scene. Unfortunately, Wayne gets poisoned by her deadly pin and learns from Shirley that he is in a very serious condition. Not wanting Bosco to worry about him, Wayne tells Shirley to hide the fact from Bosco. Always seeing Wayne happy and enthusiastic, I feel sad for him and hopes that he can be cured but I don’t think that would be the case. Wayne’s hair starts turning white..back to his true age (he said he’s supposed to be 60 years old)

[Bosco tells Wayne to look after his mother and brother]

The two slap each other on the face, helping the other to mosquitoes.

Wayne happily agrees to help Boso after Bosco compliments him. As Bosco walks away, wayne notices the crows/eagle flying above.
[Wayne’s fight. Wayne protects Bosco]

Bosco realises that one of the poisoness pins got Wayne on the neck

Sharon disguises as an old woman to get close to Bosco, and Bosco helps her and even planned to treat her food, until he realised it was her.

[Bosco and Bernice Moments]

On the surface, it appears that Bernice’s father has let Kevin go (so Bosco thinks he’s a nice guy), and was never to return to the School of Sacred Swords, but secretly putting something into him which caused Kevin to spit out blood and collapse into the river when he was rowing the boat away alone later. Argh!!! That guy is soo annoying!! Bosco and the others of course do not know about it…

Kevin bids farewell to his friends.

[Devil’s Disciples] Episode 11

Very exciting episode~ I loved it ^^

We learn of the truth behind Kevin’s mother!

The story seems planned that Bosco was not able to take part and Kevin does; just to find his mother. Its quite sad though because Kevin’s mother has already passed away; but luckily was able to leave a few last words for him to find out the truth and what kind of person Bernice’s father is.

In this episode, The Bloody Shadow Clan reveal themselves and plan their attack on the School of Sacred Swords and the 7 other Groups. With the 6 in training for the ultimate attack, Sharon successfully mislead the 7 groups to gathering there and blasted a flying stone; burning the whole building along with the people. Sharon was so cool! I was a bit disappointed that not many people were killed in the fire; and seemed a bit odd how the 7 groups of people who were stuck in the building surrounded by fire for such a long time but didn’t seem to get killed. I also liked how the 6 new disciples (excluding Kevin because he was not in the scene) were working together and saving everyone. I liked how they looked out for one another and it just really showed how they were good choices.
On another note, it seems a bit quick but the 6 learning the ultimate attack (Bernice, Bernice’s father, Sword Brother, and the 3 mentors) were able to master it in such a short period of time. It turns out that they didn’t even need seven people. They couldn’t find Kevin (because he was with his mother) so they carried on with the training.
With help from the Sword Brother; Sharon was able to successfully defeat the ultimate attack. This is also the first time Sharon and Bosco meet!! He stood out for everyone and accepted Sharon’s challenge; a condition of letting them go if someone was able to block/survive 3 of her moves. In her 3rd move, Sharon was able to kill Bosco but she didn’t because she felt something..(we all know why!!) The crows were also flying around; and so Bosco saw the chance and injured her. At that point, I really hoped that Bosco felt something too~ so sad to think he’s helping his enemy fighting his own people..

In the final match, Bosco wins Kevin as Kevin suddenly loses focus midway and it turns out the pill Bosco had given him to save his life earlier was not ready yet so having a negative affect on him, even though it increased his strength. I felt sorry for Kevin there.. feels so slack to him and unfair even though both Wayne and Bosco did not know of the negative side effects back then and had no intentions. With the help of Shirley, Kevin was healed. At least Kevin found out the real reason rather than blaming himself by saying how useless he was etc. Bosco promises Kevin he will help find his mother though so I think Kevin shouldn’t be too upset about it.
We also learn more about Wayne and his past and why he was interested in the ultimate-7-person-attack. It was something his Master and fellow disciples had attempted to learn which caused them all to die while learning it (perhaps not-yet understanding the secret behind it). In the end, Bosco promised Wayne that they would communicate with him through a message pigeon about the technique as Bosco enters with the other 6 to start their training.

Shirley chasing after Wayne, asking him to return the pill he had stolen (one given to Kevin) from the [Sky One Tribe]. The people there don’t know how to fight.

Shirley healing Kevin’s injuries

Kevin on the other hand continues to try to rescue his mother and he gets help from his fellow disciples =) However, in the end he was unable to but they have realised where she was situated: in the back where the 7 are training for the Ultimate attack.

At the end I feel sorry for Bosco !! Having been accepted into take part in learning the ultimate7-person-technique, Bosco is unable to get the first part right when he gets injured due to a mysterious pressure point that didn’t allow him to release his power (that Wayne found in him).
I’m guessing the thing in Bosco that has stopped him from learning the attack has got something to do with his past. Perhaps the pressure points were hit into him at birth.. Either way, Bernice’s father has decided not to let Bosco continue and swapped him with Kevin. Bosco and Wayne must of been really disappointed. In the end, Bosco was not able to take part. Somehow I’m relieved though because according to Wayne; learning the move is very dangerous and can ultimately kill those involved..

Kevin took on the opportunity and accepted his role. While he was there; he happened to find his mother in some cave. Unfortunetly when he reached out to her, he couldn’t touch her…she wasn’t real..
