Synopsis

Sniper LEE HO-YEUNG (Michael Tse) left the Special Duties Unit as he failed in an operation, and since then he has gradually developed personal enmity towards his co-worker and good friend KO TSUN-KIN (Eddie Cheung).
HO-YEUNG turns into a yacht merchant and then becomes a president of a Firearms Association, colluding with organised crime syndicates on the sly.  Taking advantage of the trust laid upon him by a detective of the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau, SHEUNG KOON MING-CHU (Kate Tsui), he has quite a grasp on police operations that raid on the crime syndicates.  On top of that, with his girlfriend LAI CHUN (Eliza Sam) being a member of the Special Duties Unit, HO-YEUNG gains first-move advantage in all respects.   On the flip side, TSUN-KIN has been kept in the dark for the whole time, until he finds there is something  suspicious regarding the criminal’s modus operandi in several murder cases.  Later on, owing to a money laundering case,  HO-YEUNG deliberately approaches TSUN-KIN’s good friend, WONG YEUK-LING (Kathy Chow), who learns that TSUN-KIN was the sniper who shot her in the head many years ago.  Without anyone noticing,  a tense standoff between the brothers is about to unfold……

Triumph in the Skies 2

  • These episodes focused a lot on Ron and Myolie which I didn’t mind at all : )
There were some very sweet scenes between the two and slowly I began to really like this couple. It felt very genuine and it became clear in episode 21 that Ron had feeling for Myolie as well. Did it suddenly blossom?Ron seemed quite lost before this haha
  • When Chilam received a letter from someone who claimed to be his younger half-sister, he refused to acknowledge her, saying Myolie is his only sister. Myolie felt bad how Chilam was neglecting the girl, so decided to make a trip to Paris to find her. P.s I thought it was hilarious when Chilam showed Myolie the photo and she asked “Is that your illegitimate child?” haha
  • After Kenneth broke up with his 2 girlfriends, he becomes depressed and drags Ron to holiday with him in London to help him recover. Overhearing that Ron would be going to London, Myolie decides to catch the same flight. The three of them have quite some fun in London, with Ron being especially caring towards Myolie, offering to accompany her around to find her half-sister in Paris. They do not end up finding her as the letter was sent to Chilam months ago and she had already left.
  • While on their trip, Ron and Myolie visit a library/bookshop and chat happily until late and they decide to stay overnight there. When Myolie went to a put jacket over Ron who had fallen asleep he awakes to find her close to him. As she backs-off, Ron grabs her hands and smiles. Without any words, the two knew how they felt about each other.

Triumph in the Skies 2

  • The next morning, Ron had to leave when he got a text message from Kenneth who ended up in the police station and leaves a note for Myolie to meet him at the cafe. Myolie misplaces her phone and couldn’t get in contact with him. Hours later, and Ron did not appear, so Myolie starts to wander off to the sites they talked about the night before and here we have a chasing game where Ron tries to track down Myolie. The two finally reunite claiming they were both thinking of the same thing/places. Ron then attempts to kiss Myolie (3 times lol), the first two times being interrupted by Kenneth’s phone call, and the third with Myolie quickly saying, “I’m hungry” as she got embarrassed.

Triumph in the Skies 2

  • The two stroll and enjoy the rest of the day happily together until they walk past a painter who mistaken Myolie (Summer) as ‘Zoe’. ‘Zoe’ had her portrait drawn half way when she had to leave (as she was feeling unwell), so it was only half complete. Upon seeing the painting, Ron lets go of Myolie’s hands as he is reminded of Zoe (his sister in law) and Francis (brother). Myolie becomes sadden when Ron started to keep his distance. She however, decides to complete the portrait with Ron feeling quite uncomfortable. (Why would she do that for? Why create a painting that’s a mix of Zoe and Summer- now that’s just confusing lol And who was supposed to keep it? Ron or Francis? XD)
  • This pretty much ends their romantic escape, returning to Hong Kong with awkwardness between them.
  • Ron starts holding back and is afraid of developing further with Myolie until he is sure Francis had moved on from Zoe. In the meantime, he keeps the painting in his room..

Triumph in the Skies 2

  • I’m almost half way through the series and I feel that it’s slowly losing its momentum and I’m slightly losing interest in it. I thought episode 16 -17 were quite exciting but this doesn’t mean I fully liked the way it was developed or where the story was heading. Nancy’s story development in episode 18 made me go a bit bizarre (call me conservative but it has left me in disbelief), with episode 19-20 focusing on characters I didn’t care too much about (e.g Adrian, Kenneth). Hopefully the story will pick up again because I do hope to enjoy and finish the series. Ok..so onto the exciting episodes!!
  • The PPP was coming to an end (yay, finally!) and on their last lesson, the students get to go on a ride in the sky for the last time. Fala had to go last because she always handed in her homework late. Just as it got to her turn, Fala misses out because of thunder warnings. Knowing that Fala would be disappointed, Francis arranges a time the next morning to fly with Fala, but is told that Chilam has taken the private plane already and he would be able to use it after him. When Francis went to find Fala in her room that morning, she wasn’t there but notices the “Triangel” doll sitting on her table. FINALLY!! 😀 He takes it and smells it (carrying the scent of ‘Zoe’), causing him to become very emotional and full of questions.

Triumph in the Skies 2
Triumph in the Skies 2

  • On the other hand, Fala is outside playing around with a make-belief plane, where Chilam notices her and invites her onto the private plane for a ride.  Being thrilled with the excitement of flying once again, Fala yells in joy on the flight. Shortly after they land, Fala notices Chilam had the key to the lock on her bracelet on his key ring. Bringing back memories of’ ‘Daniel’, Fala lifts up her wrists and lets Chilam unlocks her bracket causing Fala to become extremely emotional and overwhelmed. “Its finally opened. Ever since the jacket, you’d constantly appear in my life. This time, you helped me unlock the bracelet too.” Chilam smiles and wipes the tears off Fala’s face, “Sometimes I shouldn’t think about things too complicated”.  Fala touches his face and the two kiss. Just at this moment, Francis arrives with the “Triangel” and witnesses this…Woahh…..!! The two realisation moments I have been waiting for! TVB, is this supposed to be the start of their love triangle???
  • I always thought Fala noticed Chilam because of his similarity to “Daniel” and sometimes it makes wonder if she’s just using him as a substitute. She was freed from her emotional burden and her kissing him felt like it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing..haha Chilam probably doesn’t even know what/why Fala behaved the way she did.  However, I thought their next scene which followed came way too quick and bizarre for my liking.

TVBA Jadeworld Carnival 2013

**UPDATE** 8/9/13

Hi All! Just wanted to share a couple of photos I took at this year’s Jadeworld Carnival at Burwood Park. I wasn’t feeling well that day and wasn’t super keen to attend this year so I only rocked up at 3pm, and stayed til about 3.40pm. At that time, Moses and Joey were up on stage playing games with the audience. I don’t recall anything else interesting that happened haha. Did anyone go this year? And if so, how was the rest of the event? Did they perform or sing any songs this year? Here are a couple of photos I took..and that concludes my experience of their visit this year ^^

TVB Jade Carnival 2013

It’s that time of the year again, where Sydney siders (haha maybe not so much in recent years ey? :P) are anticipating which TVB stars they would have a chance to meet in the Annual JadeWorld Carnival. Well, the details are out and my first reaction was “Not Moses Chan AGAIN!” lol He keeps coming and I wanted to see someone different lol I like how the location is back to Burwood Park though, closer for me to get to, but I’m quite indifferent to going this year. I like Joey Meng from “A Change of Heart”, but when I’m reminded of all the pushing ad shoving and standing-in-the-sun all day to see a glimpse of them around 3pm, I’m a little put off. We shall seee…

For those who are eager to attend, please be sure to share with us on your experiences! Who is interested?

Triumph in the Skies II

  • These episodes mainly focus on the students at PPP, Fala and Myolie. I felt there was a lot of relationship development between Fala and Francis, while Chilam was pretty much missing in action (except looking cool and flirting with Fala here and there – making the other students think Chilam is giving Fala special treatment). Well, he kinda does, but doesn’t at the same time. Fala knows Chilam likes her, so a lot of the times she goes through Chilam rather than Francis.

Triumph in the Skies II

Francis and Fala

  • During the PPP, particularly when the students were able to get close to the jets, Francis notices Fala not paying attention to what is being taught and her mind constantly wandered as she kept thinking about her ex-boyfriend. After taking Fala on a flight, he tells Fala to leave PPP, and that she should stop wasting everyone’s time because the only reason she wants to fly is because of her ex-boyfriend. She has already flown, so there is no need for her to stay. However Fala sticks firmly to wanting to learn to fly and won’t leave until she does. Francis yells at her at disbelief: “Still in denial?” “Wake up, your relationship is dead!” which causes Fala to snap back “You shut up! Stop acting you know everything because you know nothing!” It was sad when Fala when back to find her mum and asked her “If I can’t stay in PPP, would you still support me to take private lessons to learn to fly?” It makes me wonder sometimes too, was Fala just being stubborn in wanting to be with her ex-boyfriend? Or has she fallen in love with the sky and flying? Or Both?

Triumph in the Skies II

  • Francis finds out that his first pilot book which he lent an old friend, was actually lent to Daniel (Fala’s ex), and through this old friend learns that Fala’s ex-boyfriend actually died in a flight accident on a private plane on the day before he was going to propose to Fala.
  • Francis spots Fala reading his book and doing self study on private flying. He asks for the book back (since she won’t need it anyway) and tells Fala that he learned of her ex-boyfriend’s death. Fala reveals that she was previously against her ex from flying because she felt it was dangerous and didn’t understand why he loved the sky so much. He promised he’d stop when they get married. However on the day he was going to propose, he secretly went to fly one last time which ultimately caused his death. Fala admits that after flying with Francis, she now understands why he was so immersed into being in the air, and she wants to learn to fly so she can always be with him.
  • Upon hearing this, Francis started tearing up the pages of the book and threw the pages out to the sea “You can’t bring your emotions with you when you fly, your only priority is the safety of the passengers!” “If all you want to do is keep memory of Daniel, then just go and stick the book back together but leave PPP” “This book means a lot to me too! It was the book which taught me all the knowledge of flying”. I think this is the scene Fala finally wakes up, and she also starts tearing and throwing the pages in the water…
  • In the next scene, we see Francis back at PPP teaching Fala and providing her some private coaching 🙂

Triumph in the Skies II

  • I thought the scene was pretty cute. Despite Francis disapproving Fala’s actions, he cares for her a lot and is constantly there to help her. He also provided hints during their research lesson where he inspired her to be as successful as the first female pilot “Old bird” who went against all odds to fly. He taught her that as long as she changes her attitude and control her emotions, and think clearly then she can be successful too.
  • PPP students are continuously put under test by Francis and Chilam deliberately causing disputes within the teams etc, and to make them learn all sorts of life lessons like teamwork (making them better friends), dreams/ambitions, treasuring every moment of being about to fly, the type of mindset and behaviour required and the alike. I personally dislike the other boyish female student and her attitude (Francis mentioned she was over-qualified for the program anyway), constantly dissing Fala but I found it hilarious when she kinda ‘confessed’ to Francis that he was one of the key reasons she joined PPP hehee. Well I guess it’s not that surprising given Francis and Chilam’s characters have such a fan base. She is totally not a fan of Chilam though lol
  • Fala is good friends with Him Law and ‘Hero’ in the PPP. They would stick by each other, study together and get in trouble together. Despite all that, I feel the three of them lack chemistry together. (Not sure if its their acting, script, or just me comparing them to the awesome bond between Francis, Nancy and Ron).

TVB Always and Ever

Synopsis

Due to a heartrending vow, YUEN KAM-CHEONG (Bobby Au Yeung), an Inspector of the Criminal Intelligence Bureau, has mistakenly killed his girlfriend YEUNG TSIK-SUET (Esther Kwan).  Being so grief-stricken, KAM-CHEONG has an out-of-body experience, travelling back in time to the Song Dynasty.    Having attached his soul to BAO ZHENG (Bobby Au Yeung), the magistrate of Song’s capital Kaifeng, he is shocked to see HON SEUNG-SEUNG (Esther Kwan), who looks just like TSIK-SUET, right in front of his eyes.   According to BAO ZHENG’s investigation,  SEUNG-SEUNG was actually a princess, but was instead framed by a villain, KO KAI-ON (Ben Wong).  Shedding his tears, BAO ZHENG is forced to execute SEUNG-SEUNG, triggering his soul to once again float out of his body to the 1950s, when he becomes an all-powerful inspector WAH LUNG-BIU (Bobby Au Yeung).

As predestined, he believes he will re-encounter TSIK-SUET, yet TIN TSAU-FUNG (Esther Kwan), who is standing in front of him, does not recall him at all.  On the contrary, she thinks he is the one who killed her husband.   In order to change his fate, LUNG-BIU continuously verifies the truth.  Unexpectedly, he learns that a dancer, LAM YIM-FONG (Rebecca Zhu) and her boyfriend YUEN KWAI (Pierre Ngo), are his biological parents.  Moreover, TIN TSAU-FUNG’s younger sister TIN TSAU-NGAN (Mandy Wong) turns out to be manipulating the whole plot.  Tragedy recurs when LUNG-BIU accidentally kills TSAU-FUNG again.  With KAM-CHEONG’s soul returning to the modern era, he is determined to ferret out the one who has cast the spell on him in the cycle of reincarnation so as to protect TSIK-SUET as well as to escape from the curse.  However, to his surprise, it is him initiating all these tragedies……

TVB Triumph in the Skies II

  • The series continues to be enjoyable 10 episodes in.
  • Chilam and Myolie’s storyline continues to develop and not disappoint. In order to get close to her, Chilam decides to move in as one of her housemates. Seeing Myolie’s dislike for him, her loyal team member “Teddy” (and I believe is also her secret crush) played by Adrian Chau, pulls a prank on Chilam which leaves him locked out of the house with no clothes on (except a towel) and Myolie had to retrieve him. While I enjoy Chilam’s sense of humour and playboy character, I love seeing Chilam more when he’s being serious because he appears more caring and genuine. We see this in the scene Chilam finally confronts Myolie revealing to us their sibling relationship.

Myolie: “I told you, tenants have to look at the notice board themselves, if anything happens, its your responsibility.”
Chilam: “So you think you and I are only tenant and landlord relationship? I am your brother, Koo Ha San. No matter how angry you are with me, even if you don’t want your surname, you can’t change this fact!”

  • Chilam tries to make it up to her for abandoning her when she was young when he went to pursue his pilot career/join the military. One day, he noticed she has been carrying around the watch he had previously given her in her tool box, and kept it the entire time even though it was broken. Thinking her birthday was coming up, he decided to organise a surprise party for her and got the watch fixed as his birthday present. Unfortunately, he got the day and month switched around so he was a month late. Myolie also revealed she had deliberately kept the watch broken at 2pm to constantly remind her of the day/time he left her. It happened to be 2pm again and she tossed the watch into a jug of juice. It’s quite sad actually and I felt sorry for the both of them. I guess it does require more time! I knew the surprise party wasn’t going to be a good idea…(even if it was on her actual birthday given how antisocial she is) lol
  • Chilam seems very proud of his sister, always saying things to Ron like “Of course she’s smart, she’s my sister”. It’s cute how both Chilam and Myolie are similar in both acting “cool” hehe
