Synopsis
As a Senior Inspector of the Narcotics Bureau Operation Unit, HEUNG WING (Miu Kiu Wai) profoundly abhors evil. He and WAI SAI-LOK (Raymond Lam) – Senior Inspector of the Intelligence Unit have closely co-operated with each other as peer mentors, frequently solving drug trafficking cases for the Police Force. During an operation to knock down the targets, SAI-LOK discovers clues that HEUNG WING is most likely the corrupt cop in a collusion conspiracy with drug dealers. Apart from launching a secret investigation into HEUNG WING, SAI-LOK is also alienated from him by the evil-willed Chief Inspector of the Operation Unit – PUN HOK-LAI (Ben Wong). Having undergone various disputes against each other, the long-term brotherly relationship between SAI-LOK and HEUNG WING appears full of contradictions.
On the other hand, following an investigation, SAI-LOK falls in love with a snitch – CHAN KA-PIK (Kate Tsui), who suffers from low self-esteem due to her humble beginning. Deliberately denying her affection to SAI-LOK, KA-PIK gives up on him so that his secret admirer – KO HEI-SUEN (Ella Koon), a rookie police officer, can have the chance, leading to a subtle relationship among the three. Feeling life is so dreary, KA-PIK ultimately digs her own grave by becoming a new generation of drug dealer, involved in drug trafficking and provoking the Police Force. With intense sorrow, SAI-LOK then joins forces with HEUNG WING against KA-PIK, waging a chain of bitter battles.

“Evil-willed”, “waging a chain of bitter battles”… the synopsis is so dramatic! 😛 Are you watching this? I caught the first 3 eps, it’s pretty good so far. I actually like Raymond’s character and so far he portrays it pretty well which is something I can’t say for his last few roles! Here’s hoping the series only gets better!

I’ve been catching up on this series (shamelessly) just because of Michael Miu and Raymond Lam. I can’t stand the sight of Kate Tsui and Ella Koon though. Sigh, such conflicts on whether or not to watch this.
Anyways, it is quite a refreshing plot with some odd twists that you can’t quite expect sometimes. I’ve been enjoying it so far…but maybe it’s just the first 6 episodes.

Am enjoying both High and Low and Last Steep Ascent after struggling in finishing Ghetto Justice 2. It’s 2 of the better series this year despite I have too much college work to do. Ben Wong’s acting is still good as he was Spicy Ginger although he kinda annoys me in there haha. I’m curious about Kate’s character.
Somehow the series kinda reminds me of Lives of Omission not only because of the casts but because the undercover thing at the beginning. I’m not used to Raymond’s sarcastic role in this series as the cop but it’s his first cop role so I’m giving him a slack on this.
I’m really enjoying this series right now!! The past few series didn’t really interest me that much, even though I did look forward to Ghetto Justice 2… anyway. Maybe I just like crime investigation kinda series but I’m really liking it right now! 🙂

& it’s actually been a while since I’ve seen Kate and Ella in anything… I don’t have anything against them but it does seem like Ella acting has improved since the last time I saw her? Based on the synopsis spoilers thing, I wonder who Raymond will get together with in the end? Feel like someone’s gonna die =.=
Kate shines in this series. I could say this is my favorite role of her as Linda in Witness Insecurity.
I like Raymond’s character in High and Low but don’t really like his acting in there. This drama is good but the rating is not that high.
I don’t think we should really take ratings into account in terms of how good a series is, since its just based on HK audience’s tastes (which at times can be rather questionable..) XD
I’ve just finished episode 4 and it’s okay so far. For some reason I can’t seem to get into the drama, but perhaps I’m just bored of the police/drug dealing theme.
I know what you mean. TVB has been using their cliche. In my perspective, High and Low is one of the better series this year.
A bit tired of tvb these days. Still not sure if I will watch Silver Spoons and Confidante although they have good casts and are this year’s anniversary series.
High and Low and Last Steep Ascent are worth a watch. Am enjoying as many good new tvb series as possible since there are barely any good ones. 🙂
I’m plannning to watch SSSS and The Confidant since they are grand productions..should be worth giving a shot 🙂

Enjoyed watching them too, I was a bit “aww…” when Vincent gave up the drugs to save Kate. He must have been so cut when he found out she betray him, yet he still let her off the hook 🙂 Too bad that was the last of him

Kate is awesome in here, i just hate her tragic.end, i hope she ends up with raymond, even in real life 🙂
I think this series was very underrated. It was a good drama but didn’t rank high among the 2012 dramas. I don’t understand why people hate Kate Tsui so much, I think she’s a very down-to-earth person in real life and she puts a lot of effort and emotions into her characters.
