Every Move You Make

Synopsis

Crime Unit Senior Inspector, YIU HOK-SUM (Bowie Lam) has learnt his mind reading skills overseas. He is efficient and, by far, the most competent cop in his unit. He is able to analyze and read people’s minds just by observing their body language, facial expressions and from the tone of voice. In addition, he is also highly skilled when spotting disparities in testimonies and evidence.

However, his teammates find him to be a real pain in the neck. New comers, YIP CHIN-TING (Krystal Tin) and HO LAI-YIN (Bosco Wong) are especially annoyed by the unconventional way in which he does things. As a result, the pair often has confrontations and misunderstandings with the inspector. Things become worse when SUM learns that his half-sister, CHING PUI-YEE (Aimee Chan) is secretly going out with LAI, and that TING, who has recently been divorced, has a crush on him.

Hrmms, so is Aimee going to pair up with Bosco again?

  • zihwye says:

aimee and bosco again?? SOUNDS AWESOME!!!

  • silentmemories says:

Why bosco and aimee again? 🙁 no offence but i’m a hardcore boscolie fan haha.

    • Fiona says:

Myolie isnt in this series lol, so i guess Bosco had to be paired up with someone else LOL

    • ilikehim says:

I think TVB is putting efforts in turning this pairing into “The New Boscolie”, if you know what i mean.

      BUT HELLS NO, cause i am a die-hard Boscolie. FOR.E.VER. <3

  • Chibi says:

Looking forward to this, hope it’s good! It’s gonna be aired in Sydney after CBML which ends this weekend, woot!

  • Jen Chu says:

I like to watch this type of series but not a lot of actors or actress I know.

    • Chibi says:

I think the casting of this series is quite fresh, with Bowie and Bosco collaborating (I think this is their first time?) I like seeing Susan Tse here, and I don’t mind Aimee too much yet.. not sure about that other girl though o_O

      Watched the first episode and it’s kinda amusing, though I hope the investigation cases will be a bit less obvious ^^;;

  • KTVB says:

i’m currently up to episode 8 of the series and am quite enjoying it 🙂 I haven’t seen America series “Lie to Me”, and although most probably TVB has copied yet another American Series and is not original- I enjoy watching the concepts of analyzing body language etc Some seem to be stating the obvious but I still find them quite interesting lol

Apart from the cases, the cast is quite refreshing. Bosco’s character doesn’t seem to stand out much though- hopefully he’ll have a larger role later on

    • Elle says:

I’m not surprised if TVB has copied another American TV series. After watching “The Mysteries of Love”, I learnt that they copied the Japanese TV series “Galileo”. I find that “The Mysteries of Love” also somewhat resembles the American TV series “Numb3rs” except that the Raymond and Kenneth’s characters in that show are best friends instead of brothers as in the American series. So with that, it won’t be surprising if TVB copies another TV show in the future.

Somehow I think that even though the show primarily focused on Bowie’s character, Bosco’s character somewhat stands out, between the initial clashes and arguments between him and Bowie, to dating Perlie, Bowie’s sister in the show (Aimee Chan) with Kristal’s (Phoenix) character stuck in the middle. In some scenes, I find Bosco’s character to be quite funny. That’s just what I think though.

If you ever got time, I would love to see you do a summary of your thoughts on this show like you did for some of the other series.

      • KTVB says:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Elle =) I didn’t find Bosco to stand out that much though…his character feels a bit random lol I guess it was really his relationship with Perlie that kinda forced him to try get along with Bowie XD

I watched Lie to Me and it is definitely not as good as this TVB series…In my opinion, I do not think that the mind-reader detectives in the American series are not as good as the one that is portray in TVB series…It is more on talking and the reasoning that they gave is pretty obvious. Also, I felt that the cases that they handled are not that interesting as well…Maybe it is because i just watched one of the episode so that i would see how different or similar the American series and the TVB series..I would still go for this TVB series instead of Lie to Me… 🙂

4 more eps to go. Never watched ‘Lie to Me’ before. Copy or not, I found this series quite good ar! The cases are interesting and fast pace in general and the cast did a great job too. *Like*

+ The themesong’s good and tailored to the series too! 🙂

  • KTVB says:

I just finished watching this series- overall I found it enjoyable- it had some interesting aspects to it. I think the first half of the series was a bit more interesting but I’m not sure if that’s the real reason because that was when I started watching “No Regrets”. After starting “No Regrets” I started to lose interesting in EMYM! XD No Regrets is just so much better lol although it’s of different genre etc I felt EMYM was kinda draggy..

I don’t think Bowie’s character is that “weird” or “mean” as they tried to protray him as from the start where Bosco disliked him. I don’t think Bosco stood out that much in the series- I was rather annoyed by his character from the start when he just seemed bias towards Bowie. Bowie is his head after all- he should show some form of respect or at least try to get a long etc.

Overall all the characters were just ok..Bosco and Aimee were kinda cute together I suppose. I didn’t like Chris and the other policeman together- seemed kinda pointless.

They didn’t really have much of a resolution to Bowie’s family problems though- they’re all still bias towards Susan etc

There weren’t really any conflict between Krystal and Bowie either. Oh wells, they get a happy ending together lol

    • Chibi says:

And this is what separates an average series with an AWESOME-AWARD-DESERVING series like No Regrets!

    • Ri says:

To me, watching No Regrets is like 45-mins of non-stop, mind-blasting drama.. and then I switch over to EMYM and didn’t really have to think much. Haha!

I was annoyed w Bowie’s need to constantly explain everything even to the suspects -.- I get that they’re trying to explain it to the audience but it got a bit preachy and draggy after awhile..

I do think that Aimee has improved vastly though! And although it was a bit weird that they didn’t conclude the family’s bias towards Susan & Bowie, I think it’s fine because they were so. annoying. Not seeing them again was fine by me!

All in all, nothing award-winning but it was good, mindless fun! 🙂

      • KTVB says:

haha I agree with you “watching No Regrets is like 45-mins of non-stop, mind-blasting drama.. and then I switch over to EMYM and didn’t really have to think much. Haha!” XD I thought the cases were pretty predictable..like when I saw Macy reaching out for help, my first impression was “I have a feeling she’s faking this whole rape case” lol As for the last case- it was obvious that Bosco’s friend was the one behind it, especially when they kept emphasizing how the key is the fact his legs are too weak to attack anyone.. I did think for a moment that he was just faking it XD

I agree it was a bit preechy lol He mentions the same ones quite a few times too.

        Haha..yes..what a annoying family!!

This series seems more watchable than like “The comeback clan..”

    • faithict says:

I just finished watching EMYM and I did not really start watching No Regrets yet except for the first episode…However I have the same opinion as you, that is the second half of the series doesn’t seem to be as interesting as the first half…maybe it is because on the first half of the series, we were amazed at how Bowie read the expression of other people to solve the case…but as it goes on, the steps that he took is pretty much the same and so we get accustomed to it…Also, the cases are not that hard to solve as the culprit is pretty obvious… maybe then that is why we found that the second part of the series not that great compared to the first half…However overall i do enjoy this series..Not as good as other detective series like Forensic Heroes, but is something slightly different as it uses mind reading to solve the cases…..

One thing I would like to see is that Bowie’s family will change how they treated Susan…At first i thought after the case of Bowie’s father is solved, they would treat Susan much better after all the things that she has done to protect the family and what Bowie did to help the son…

I really like to see the couple Bosco and Aimee….they look very cute together in EMYM….on the other hand, i found Bowie and Krystal do not really have that much chemistry together..it seems to me like they are just good partners in solving the cases but not being a couple…i guess tvb wants everyone to have good ending in EMYM, bowie-krystal, Bosco-aimmee, chris-loretta… 🙂

Overall, this series is OK for me, not that great but not that bad as well…lol..I am going to start watching No Regrets…I am pretty hopeful that this will not be a disappointing series to me..which i don’t think so, looking at so many good reviews from it… 🙂

      • cheela says:

It was really funny went Chris was like saying “I LOVE YOU” twice to his girlfriend on the phone, and Loretta was like, what are you doing dude? 😛

        • KTVB says:

That scene was so embarrassing -.- how about when the gangsters were there lol

        • cheela says:

The gangsters were like mimicing Chris saying I LOVE YOU. Kerry, did you see the part when Bosco was telling off Chris for hurting Ruco and Loretta was like protecting Chris. So romantic. Could see that she likes Chris. 🙂

      • KTVB says:

I agree faithict! I can’t feel much chemistry from Krystal and Bowie- they’re more like friends/partners when solving cases..and I found it weird how her ex-husband didn’t really appeared in the series(until the end- I thought he wasn’t ever going to show up lol)

About Bowie’s dad’s case and the affect on the family..I don’t really see what the big deal is. Susan kept it from her family because she wanted to protect her family…and as a result- her husband’s upset? It doesn’t make sense that she wouldn’t tell anyone though- what did she want to happen? Just let Bowie’s dad trick their family’s money again?

I also thought there was more to Susan’s background..which was also part of the blackmail- something about her used to being a conartist too? I don’t think Bowie’s dad even revealed this..so is Susan still hiding this from her husband..?

        • Chibi says:

haha that’s what annoyed me about this case- It makes NO SENSE how Susan was protecting her family by not revealing the truth. By doing that, she is endangering their lives, and really has nothing to gain from it.

          Illogical, lol.

  • Park says:

Good cast and everything but TVB writers need to start getting original (have their own style and not “copy” the ideas of others). I am pretty sure that the core of this whole drama is from Lie to me.

  • mandy says:

is it just me or does it seem like that in every single crime series there’s someone with mulitple personality disorder ? it’s getting to typical and boring.

  • gohanDLuffy says:

Just finished watching it! Not Bad!! although i am not a fan of bowie, i actually liked him in the series! i was angry that tvb didnt show how his feelings for Krystal and how it developed! when and how he started to like her. The ending was too abrupt for the two characters. the point of a movie? is to watch a character develop. TVB lacks that, hence their endings are always bad! However they did show him develop emotionally, the case about his father was very touching, how from trusting his father to capturing him, the emotional hardship he had to go through… think I enjoyed watching Chris he bought humor to the series once in a while especially when he was on his phone to his gf 😛 My favourite case would be the last one! the guy with bipolar disorder! it was interesting to watch! one by one the bad guys die, yet the murderer is so innocent i think I’ve adapted a few points from reading peoples body language from this, and as most of you have commented it is similar to Lie to Me, but i havent seen that at all.
    woops wrote too much.
Thanks KTVB I love your blog! its where i go to read all reviews before watching, then after watching i go posting my thoughts on here too!

  • Ferwine says:

Does anyone know what is the physocology book called that Bosco started reading (the part when Bosco just started dating Bowie’s half sister?)
