I decided to dedicate my first Poll for Men Don’t Cry ^^ simply because it is one of my favourite series of the year yet it does not seem to gain the praise and attention it deserves. One factor I believe was the promotional poster and its casts..most Dayo Wong supporters have given him a go, but those who didn’t feel much for him (like myself) thought the cast did not look good enough. Perhaps it was because the cast were older and “ugly” . This was my opinion anyway. Most people gave up on the series after the first few episode, I myself almost did, but I’m really glad I didn’t because the series picks up so well after and it has been a series I was really addicted to watching til the end.

Have you seen "Men Don't Cry" aka. "Evil Kin"?

I really hope that more TVB viewers will watch this series. Dayo can make you hate him so much at the start, yet pity and feel so much for his character as the story goes on. It’s a very enjoyable series after the first few episodes which is why I’ve been trying to promote this series on my blog, with episodic summaries etc.

Hope you guys will trust me and give this series a go =)

    Episode 19
Another good episode! As I had suspected, Dayo was only ‘pretending’ to have turned into a bad person again as planned with Wong Fei Hong so that he can get back to Ah Pao’s side to investigate about the missing people. Though a little unexpecting was the fact TVB revealed it so early on but I don’t mind =) We get to see Dayo and Wong Fei Hong’s conversation and Dayo’s real thoughts as they progress through the plan.

Some very sad moments in the episode was the things Dayo had to do to make people think he was evil, when Cecilia and Benz really wanted to help him and try convince him to come home

Dayo lied to Benz and Cecilia that it was because he owed a lot of money to Ah Pao which was why he has to work for him. In order to help him repay his debts, Cecilia even willingly ‘sold herself’, a contract to work at another place for 10 years as a servant.. to stick to plan, Dayo couldn’t accept the money, so pretending the idiot he has turned into, ended up gambling all the money away..I think Dayo was touched and heartbroken when he found out how she got all the money for him…

Benz on the other hand wanted to get Dayo’s attention, so started gambling away at Ah Pao’s place but ended up losing a lot of money. The people there threaten to kill him. In order to protect him, yet not make it obvious that he still cares for ‘his father’, he ended up getting the bad guys to slash Benz’s head with a thousand times…*sigh*

Dayo also had to betray Vivien and lie to her again to make her forgive him, but then ‘drugging her’ and taking her to that Japanese man..

I like everything except the ending of the stories, which i prefer that finally they both can be together, dayo and cecilia. I think comedy and happy ending will bring more joy to audiences these days, as many of us moved away from sad movie that will effect our daily emotion, so happy movie is more popular now.

A very witty series ^^, enjoyed watching it heaps. Before watching this series, I never really liked Dayo…but now, he’s alright :P.

Like what bibi said, would’ve preferred a different ending. Part two anyone?

  • KTVB says:

lol..part 2 as in a sequel? I would love to see more Dayo! XD But a Sequel is highly unlikely since it wasn’t well received in Hong Kong which is a shame. (And the characters have gone older now).

I really wanted Dayo to be accepted in society but at the end it does prove to be difficult considering all the “trouble” that he brought to everyone in the past. Even if Wong Fei Hung was there to clear his name, things just wouldn’t revert like that.

I wish that if Dayo was to leave, he would take Cecilia with him ^^

  • sugar says:

KTVB – yeah thats what i wanted too lol. xD

  • Kelly says:

one of the most funniest series i watched. Dayo is the best in comedy. I love his facial expressions. Did anyone watch his stand-up comedy shows? They’re so funny.

  • Lol says:

A comedy makes people happy so it should haf a happy ending…i remember a show called “To catch the uncatchable”. One of the cast is Dayo Wong n a lot of people complaint abt the bad ending to TVB n stuffs like that n in the end they edited the nding into a happy ending…
