Hey all! The once a year Sydney TVB Jadeworld Carnival has come and gone. This year we had Nancy Wu and Wayne Lai come and I was quite excited when I first heard about it, given they’re from the awesome No Regrets series and will be playing a married couple in the upcoming grand production “Forensic Heroes 3” later this year. Much anticipated 🙂
It has been about 2 years since I went to one of those Jadecarnivals as I have always been busy with studies/exams during that time. This year I planned to go see them but unfortuntely was down with the cold 🙁 I stayed in bed for the day hoping to recover or be in a better state to see them at the autograph session instead (which was today). I did watch some youtube clips that someone has kindly uploaded to share and saw the 2 singing 🙂 Anyone go to see them ? Any experiences to share? It looked like pretty nice day outside.
This morning I woke up not feeling so great, but thought I’d go see them anyway(last chance!) XD When I got to Sussex Centre around 2pm, I didn’t see much of a crowd so I got a bit confused on why nothing was set up given start time was approaching. I then later realised half an hour later they were having it at the Food court upstairs- wtf??? That is one weird place to have an autograph session. People are trying to eat there… =.= There was a huge crowd this year with quite a lot of old grannies and gramps lol I’m guessing they were there mainly for Wayne??
Anyways, I managed to find myself a nice spot right at the front to take some photos and video recording of them 🙂 I would have had some better videos/photos if the security guards didn’t keep standing in my way. Wayne and Nancy look exactly like on TV lol Extra friendly of course, Wayne and Nancy kept smiling and waving at me ^^ Nancy talked a bit about the Boxing series, while Wayne mentioned Forensic Heroes 3 (releasing in October as this year’s grand production), filming new series with Kent, and “The Great Eunuch”. The session went pretty quick (half an hour in total) and they soon left. Chibi managed to get autographs (I’m so jealous XD)

pretty sure wayne will sing red butterfly, the themesong from rosy business and the themesong from no regrets was sung by leo ku so i don’t really think wayne will sing that though lol
and yeah, haven’t seen Nancy sing before so probably she’ll be signing autographs and stuff like that

Due to the bad weather, rain and all. The carnival wouldnt be cancelled would it? 😛 Do u think it would be changed to a diffrent venue then carss park if the weather continues on like this? How can we find out?

Autograph session starts at 2:30 but I ain’t sure if if have to buy anything from the center or comming early. I wonder what time do people usually go

I’d like to share my thoughts & experience with you all regard today’s autograph session.
the autograph session is a bull. i went to SUSSEX CENTRE DELIBERATELY today for the session with the so called 1 in 100 VIP sticker, lining up, happily waiting for my turn to get their autographs. everything was cool; the MCs & nancy/wayne talked for like 10 mins & the autograph session later commenced. BUT, another 10 minutes into the signing session with only about 30 or so people actually getting their signatures, you hear the announcement: “sorry for those who are currently waiting in line as we have RUN OUR OF PHOTOS to sign onto”. next thing you know, “please say goodbye to wayne & nancy for they are now leaving”
ok, so what happened to the so called 100 autographs limit?! did TVBA STAFF STEAL SOME FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL COLLECTION?? what’s the point of printing out the 100 VIP stickers then?? heaps of VIPs like myself queued up & wasted heaps of time all for nothing! many of us ended up complaining. the TVBA STAFF didn’t apologise. in fact, they suggest we complain to the SUSSEX CENTRE STAFF! although the SUSSEX CENTRE STAFF apologised, it doesn’t make up for our wasted time & money.
so the total time of the session lasted less than 30 minutes! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I’m NEVER EVER going to another autograph session again
What the…that sucks!! I know some people missed out, but not 70 right?? I heard that annoucement too and though ‘huh’…?? cos I thought I still saw a stack of Nancy’s photos on the table (although I didn’t see Wayne’s ones left) They left at exactly 3pm, so maybe it was an excuse for them to leave..hmm I don’t know..
i know right!!! i was so frustrated! i’m not too annoyed at the fact that i didn’t get the autograph, it’s the principle of TVBA’s method of handling the situation (especially now that you said you saw some leftovers)
i definitely saw a TVB staff had like another 40 photos(approx) and he put them in a clear bag and hid the rest in one of those recycling bags.
yeh i wentr yesterday too… gotta admit it was badly organised… felt so sorry about those who were lining up ages before the event started…
About the Autographs i saw heaps of people holding wayne’s photo but i dont think i saw anyone with Nancy’s and i dont think i saw anyone with two photos… then again what could i see with the women infront of me… she have like cameras in both hands and many heads were in the way… *sigh*

you had to get them at the jadeworld carnival yesterday. but then again, having the VIP sticker didn’t make much of a difference then not have one

that’s the thing, they didn’t have an autograph session at the carnival. it would have been a much wiser decision to have an autograph session after like last year…
there was this table where 2 girls were present, handing out these VIP stickers. they were mainly trying to promote sussex centre though
we just turned up at 2pm and my sister lined up. there was a security guy or something with a blue cap and shirt. he had some vip stickers and handed out all he had to people in the queue that didn’t have one already.
I think the tvb reduce the autographs on purpose! There were more photos but I saw a staff put them back in a bag! Everyone was kinda pushing and shoving today. I got to say… It was badly organised!

I manage to get an autograph though! I was sitting on the front row! But alot of grannies barge in without a sticker and they let them in before me.
OMG speechless…IF there’s a next time, you’ll probly see me barging in without a sticker. don’t blame me then if people with suck a VIP sticker don’t get autographs

yes upstairs market city! I assume they had dinner there after the event on saturday. i had dinner there too…but during that time, there were about 5-6 tables of tvb staff so i can’t even approach. i Actually saw her when she was leaving the restaurant about 8pm maybe.. she was with 2 ladies (manager perhaps?)i didn’t have time to ask for autograph… but i ask for a quick photo instead. One of the lady was like ” no no, we are in a rush..” but then Nancy was like “oh its ok.. won’t take too long.” So me and my sis jumped in for a quick photo with her. After that she said thanks and then went down the escalators. lol i thanked her again the next day at the autograph session.. but i didn’t know if she remembered me. Actually i saw Wayne that night too… but he was by himself so a little hard to recognize and was down the escalators before i manage to get to him

it would have been good if i had a good camera….but at that time, i only had an ipod with a camera function and to make things worse, the lady that took it for us..(nancy’s manager or something) took the picture really quickly and didn’t really cared if the photo turn out well or not.. so yeh.. the quality was really crap

LOL. The autograph was organised really bad. Like there was literally no space at all ! So many people cut corners and like those lining seems totally unfair ! I rather it was at the ground floor, more open.

i was not lining up but was sitting down. was there so my sister could go and look after her haha. she was in the line though and i did say to her there was a person who looked in the crowd who looked like you. i don’t think she kept looking at you though.

The food court at Sussex Centre is too cramped/small to host an event like this. TVBA have a permanent stand in Market City so why not host it there? The stars can appear on stage in the centre court at Market City which is much bigger so many more fans can come to see them from the ground floor or the higher floors. Do Sussex Centre have a special relationship with TVBA? Why else would TVBA stage it there?
TVB stars also come to Australia at other times during the year, but TVBA don’t appear to run any promotion events unless you do business with them or subscribe to Jadeworld. Not very effective/strategic marketing and event management.
they did used to host such events at market city level 1, where they now have temporary stores but that was like 10 years ago. back then, there was no need for such VIP tickets. you just had to wait in line, get on stage, take photos with celebrities and get their autographs. very easy to follow

i thought they were for reporters at first too.. but i ask later and they said u can sit there. i was there pretty early.. i think i was there around 11:15 and sat there the whole time.
