She feels bewildered too, for although KIU pretends he does not care about the snooker any more, he has set up an extremely difficult game in his restaurant. His purpose cannot be more obvious: he is waiting for someone to solve the game. KIU comes to know KAN TSZ HIM (Patrick Tang) by chance. Noticing his flair for the snooker, KIU decides to make an exception for HIM and teaches him all he knows about the game. Later, KAN manages to persuade her father into taking her in as well.

The King of Snookers

HIM fancies KAN, but she is fond of LUI KIN CHUNG, KIU’s bitter foe (Derek Kwok). CHUNG is a crafty person. In order to win the game, he fools around with HIM’s aunt CHIN TO TO (Joyce Tang), who is also HIM’s manager. HIM falls out with KIU because of CHUNG. Both master and disciple come to settle their scores on a snooker-table in the end.

I’m currently up to episode 14, and I must say the series is rather ordinary. It’s not that interesting and the story moves quite slowly. A lot of the time I have to force myself to watch it haha and I feel like giving up on it but I’m more than 1/2 way through the series so I’m trying to finish it. The idea of snooker is new and refreshing- sorta makes me wanna try it out 🙂

The part which leaves me with the least interest is Patrick Tang’s character. He’s a very weak character and annoys me so much! I understand his character is supposed to grow throughout the series but watching him is a pain. Unfortunately he has a lot of screen time too.

I really like watching Joyce Tang’s character ^^ She is very entertaining and funny to watch and she’s growing into a ‘better’ person as well.
Derek’s pretty amusing to watch too~ with all his magic tricks and ego-boosted self-esteem. He always thinks that all the girls fall for him and are his fans (obviously Niki and Joyce wasn’t tho haha). I thought Joyce would like Derek, but he’d like Niki or something but I guess not 🙂 Hope to see more fun scenes with Joyce and Derek!

The other anticipated scene was the competition between Adam Cheng and Derek Kwok. I really wanted to know how was the better player, but it sorta came down to the cue he was using. I’d like to see a rematch too XD

    • KTVB says:

ooo..! Adam and Derek do have a rematch and that was pure awesomeness! XD I think it was in Episode 15 when Adam (through Joyce) was able to find the “Dragon” Cue lol
The rematch was very exciting to watch, and has that touch of ‘fantasy/story-like’ bit in it; with Adam being ‘poisoned’ by Dr.J just before the match; causing Adam to be in a very disadvantaged position. At the end however, Adam was still able to win Derek and Adam has finally gained Derek’s full respect for how hard he tried; and continued on- not giving up despite his condition.
      Nice match!!

I just finished watching the series and I’m happy to say I quite enjoyed watching the last episode 🙂

    Niki wins the Pool Competition

I really like the ending 😀 And I’m happy for all the characters. Niki has always wanted to make her father proud and being the daughter of the Snooker King, she had always wanted to follow his footsteps and be as successful as him (if not exceed). When she finally got back up after being so hurt/depressed for facing the truth when her father told her she had no ‘natural talent’; she finds the real game for her-Pot Black & Pool. I felt really happy for her when she won and how her father was the one who presented the award to her 🙂

Derek also turned into a really nice guy-well he was never really bad to start with, but he was able to put down his arrogance; accept defeat and displays true sportsmanship. He put his guard down to Dr.J by trusting him and in return, Dr.J betrayed him &used him, which ultimately led Derek to lose to Patrick. However, Adam’s everlasting persistence to continue to play despite facing any obstacles inspired Derek to get back up. Derek’s is one talented player and he helped Patrick and Adam overcome their weaknesses. For that, I’m grateful towards him 🙂

    Niki wins the Pool Competition

At the final match between Adam and Patrick, Patrick wins but it was a very close match between the two and I believe if it wasn’t because of Adam’s eye sight; Adam would have won instead. Nevertheless, I’m glad they had that match and that they were able to play like they were in good-terms with each other again 🙂 Patrick has also shown that he is a very capable talented Snooker-player and that someday he would exceed his master. This was also Adam’s last match (before his eye operation) and I’m sure it would have been the most memorable in his lifetime. Adding to that, it was the perfect revenge on “Dr. J” LOL!

The last 4 episodes which lead to the finale were quite sad and annoying to watch though- with Patrick finding out the truth that Adam was the one who caused his parents to have such a sad relationship. He learned the truth shortly before he was about to confess his feelings for Niki. From that point on, his heart was just filled with anger and revenge. All he wanted was to prove to Adam and the world that his father’s technique was truly the best of the best and to defeat him in the match. I’m just glad he’s old self is back now..he was quite despicable to watch lol

At the end, Joyce ends up with Adam, Niki with Patrick, and Benz with Halina.

    Overall I wouldn’t recommend this series. It’s slow for my liking and I didn’t quite enjoy watching Patrick’s character in here. I admit he’s kinda cute sometimes but still reminds me of a little boy who hasn’t grown up yet. I’m glad to say he finally has at the end of the series ^^;
The highlights of the series would have to be the Snooker Competitions/matches. They were quite exciting to watch
    Adam v Derek (two games)
    Derek v Patrick
    Patrick v Adam
They have these very interesting tactics which I doubt are realisitic since they seem computer generated and seems to defy physics. lol Nevertheless they were all added to make the series more interesting XD

I also liked Joyce and Derek’s performances. They were entertaining to watch despite there were times I didn’t like Joyce’s character lol

One of the touching scenes in the series I found was when Niki starts losing memories of her father and she starts confessing to Adam that she’s scared she’ll forget who he is overall *aww*sniff* Can DrJ’s brainwashing really do that? lol (What a werido he is) It’s interesting idea though..making her forget the sadness inside her, including her sad memories with her father

  • qing says:

yes! king of snookers has a nice ending. i was surprised that joyce ended up with adam instead of derek. :p

  • Nicole says:

yeah the show was quite slow at the beginning, but it picks up near the end & it does have it’s moments. i liked the last ep too, esp. when Adam presented the trophy to Niki. that was a nice touch. 🙂 but i think Joyce really stole the show for me. she was unlikable at first, but i think she underwent the most change. and she looks really gorgeous in the show (like in the screencap you have up there)! surprisingly i found myself liking Adam/Joyce more than Derek/Joyce haha. overall, not a must-watch but it’s entertaining & quite funny. 😀

  • Rin says:

I’m only half way through this series and since you have the ending up, I’m done.. haha. Too much time watching the remaining episodes & I was getting really bored.
One thing though, you said it’s Adam and Joyce at the end makes me go wth.. haha. As much as I like Adam, I think I would have liked Derek&Joyce more from the 10 episodes I saw… maybe there were Adam&Joyce moments later that I miss.. but oh wells.

P.S. I thought Patrick was pretty much annoying throughout the first 10 episodes too haha.

    • KTVB says:

If someone else owned this blog and wrote this up; I’d probably do the same thing as you XD lol I had to force myself to watch it cause I watched half of it already (might as well finish it I guess)

I was a bit of the ‘wth’ as well lol There was no ‘real’ moment between the two except Adam changed Joyce and she started to realise he saw the ‘good’ side of her/and understood her as person under all those layers. Joyce never really liked Derek that way ^^; though I could have sworn there was a moment here or there that she had considered him lol

      P.s Patrick’s pretty anoying for a long..time

  • jRAW says:

Just bought this yesterday and I’m already questioning myself if I’ve wasted 10$ on it XD

I watched the first episode and I was already bored/confused rofll XD

  • Karson says:

I really liked this drama. I think it is one of the best I’ve seen not including E.U. and Moonlight…
It had a good plot and the actors/actresses did well.

  • Anna says:

I think Patrick Tang REALLY love Niki Chow

  • love ahoy says:
